I know that there is signal coming through my XENYX X1204USB mixer, because condenser mic that is connected can be heard through speakers also connected to the mixer, along with fader showing the signal input level, but there is no signal coming to Mac through mixer's USB port. The port is working fine, because I can play music from Mac through mixer, to speakers, just fine. Please help. :) I am trying to get the signal inside Ableton, but there is no signal even coming to Mac that can be seen or heard.
make sure your device is being recognized in Ableton and that you are selecting the proper input and output. Don't use Ableton but my guess is your software isn't seeing the driver for your hardware.
I bought a used Behringer x2442usb and I’m having no luck downloading any drivers or software for Mac from the Behringer website seems all to be windows software only any help?
@@InternecivusRaptus you can download generic USB sound drivers. You'd have to search and see what a decent generic sound driver would be. If all else fails I'd go out and buy a new one.
I’ve never used Ableton Live but if you don’t see the mixer in Ableton settings it doesn’t recognize the driver. The Xenyx is not designed as USB mixer it was added afterwards and can be extremely difficult to load with a windows PC.
@@DebErney Actually it's a piece of cake on PC and takes about the whole of 5 minutes. Follow the steps of install driver, connect the USB, go to your sound settings and make sure that the USB Audio Codec is selected. Then in ableton go Options-Preferences. Select Audio. Driver type = ASIO. Audio Device = ASIO4ALL v2. Change your sample rate to 48000. Press the 2-TR/USB to main button on your Xenyx. Voila it's done. Sometimes Ableton will throw a hissy fit when you load it and say there's no Audio Device, just click the thing that says click here and choose the ASIO4ALL v2 again. Not sure how it took you hours.
It’s not designed to be used with IOS/iPad/iPhone, BUT I’ve gotten some USB equipment to work with IOS using powered hub and or USB cable with power. Try it and see.
More thorough than the guys at guitar center told me... But I haven't played with it in a day I downloaded that stuff it wasn't working got real frustrated I have a behringer as you described but after I downloaded the driver it wasn't talkin to my laptop at all so I left it alone today hopefully when I'm brave enough to try it again they will have resolve their issues in there are non-human digital way. 🙄
Deb, I just want to say, thank you so, so much for this video. It was EXACTLY what I needed... no, really--I have a Xenyx and a Rode NT1 mic. Quick question--where would you recommend I go if I want to learn some real basics of improving my audio quality? I love having an analog mixer because I can actually feel the dials and such that I'm turning as I mess with EQ, gain, signal boosting, etc. I've gotten it to a place where the quality is nice, as in it reflects the quality of my mic and I've got good volume on the recording, and the mids, highs, and lows are sorta where I want them. What I really want, though, is to learn how to do dynamic range compression, and also any other sort of "top 15 basic things that will REALLY improve your audio" kind of stuff. Do you have any recommendations for where I should go? I can probably find a top 15 type video like that on TH-cam, but you were so helpful, here, I just wanted to run it by you to possibly benefit from your expertise. Thanks again so much for making this.
analog mixers only have stereo USB output. For more than 2 tracks out you need to look at the Hybrid mixers like the ZOOM L-12 amzn.to/2WdJOh9 or a stand alone recorder like the Zoom R-16. amzn.to/2S3xTTF
congratulations for the video. I own your own mixer and since I'm Italian and I can't understand all your speech in English, I kindly ask you one thing. what connections do i have to make to register with headphones while singing on a music base imported from pc? I currently have the il.mixer connected to the pc via usb cable, so in this way I should take advantage of the sound card inside the mixer, right? but what other connections do I have to make and what settings? thanks
you should be able to bypass your sound card with the USB in. If using a sound card you should have audio in? the simplest way would be to use an adapter cable from the mixer headphone output into the audio input of your card.
can you do another video where you actually show step by step how to set it up? You say you go to your control panel and set up the sound card but you don't actually show how to do that so I'm lost before we even start
If you don’t know how to get to your control panel this is going to be incredibly difficult with PC. Mac just grabs the drivers automatically and downloads if needed. Pc does not.

I have a video setup for USB audio setup that may help you. USB RECORDING WITH ANALOG MIXER th-cam.com/video/Fvt1j7BMZLc/w-d-xo.html
ehy only 2 mono or one stereo? Is there a model that does more?
The analog mixers only have 2 USB out. Some are as one stereo file, some are 2 mono files. Depending on the mixer. They have hybrid mixers that many are having problems with, then you move up to the digital mixers which also jump in price. amzn.to/2EGZkdZ
I cant hear sound from my pc coming out of my mixer..i can hear my voice when i record on my mic but cant hear sound coming from my computer..like when i play videos/music out of my computer it doesnt go through the mixer headphones..please help
sounds like you have monitoring turned off in your software or computer. check the manual to see how to turn it on.
@@robertbell4455 I'm having the same problem, but activating those buttons cuts off the recording signal. I can get playback to run, and I can record, but I can't do them both at the same time for some reason.
Hello Deb. I Have one question
I'm using MIDI keyboard controllers on stage wih Live ableton. My audio port is a Behringer UMC204.
audio input 1 - my microphone
audio input 2 - my electric guitar (clean, but processed in ableton)
2 midi keyboard controllers with vst's and the ableton intruments.
my quetion:
Can I use the Xenyx X-1204-usb for that purpose?
Don't use midi. But reason would say I
f you have audio, XLR/TR/TRS/RCA outputs I would say yes. If you are planning on midi I would say no.
@@DebErney thank you!
Super Video so well done thanks for all the info
Download link is not right for downloading Mac, it only has drivers for windows... wtf!
U shouldn’t need drivers for Mac.
I have to press the 2- tr/usb to record and then unpress it to hear back what I recorded on a Daw is that right ?
Yes, you are selecting the signal output/input. You could monitor through your computer or DAW.
@@DebErney seems the only way is headphones
Thanks for your video! I have a quesion, I have too much level noise input trying to record, any idea?
Try turning down the gain on mixer channels
Hi do you try to use this mixer for smartphone for external audio source for video recording or video live
I have not ever tried this.
Sehr gutes Video. Vielen Dank!
Greetings, if someone can help me: So I am using Macbook Pro Early 2015, with OS Cataline 10.15.7 - latest at the moment, and I am having trouble getting signal that can be seen inside System preferences -> Sound -> Input, as seen in the video, even when I select that USB port from my XENYX X1204USB.
Very helpful video. However I am having trouble getting playback/metronome to play while I'm recording. Are these two things mutually exclusive?
not sure but I would think so.
I bought a used Behringer x2442usb and I’m having no luck downloading any drivers or software for Mac from the Behringer website seems all to be windows software only any help?
Echo4nineteen if you’re Mac isn’t very old it should automatically pick the mixer up. You may try to turn everything off to reboot and try again.
Deb Erney my mac was purchased in 2013 brand new but perhaps in today’s stands that’s considered old. I’ll give restarting it a try. Thanks
Deb Erney and if that doesn’t work?
@@InternecivusRaptus you can download generic USB sound drivers. You'd have to search and see what a decent generic sound driver would be. If all else fails I'd go out and buy a new one.
Deb Erney thanks for your responses, guess my other question would be why I can’t get a Mac version from Behringer’s website?
Helped thank you!
Is Behringer XENYX X1204usb is available to Ableton Live Suite 10? I can't find the mixer in the audio input device in the audio tab at ableton
Mat Hickling glad it worked out for you.
Can I use this with a I pad and does it need the os operating system
It’s not designed to be used with IOS/iPad/iPhone, BUT I’ve gotten some USB equipment to work with IOS using powered hub and or USB cable with power. Try it and see.
Super helpful!! Thankyou
See if this helps you out. th-cam.com/video/Fvt1j7BMZLc/w-d-xo.html

Does this board have a gain for the usb output?
I believe it does. you may want to look at the online manual to make sure. www.uns.nu/pdf/Behringer_Mixer_XENYX1204FX.pdf
Hi, can i recording milti tracks ? for example 5 microphones, each one in individual track
analog mixers only have stereo USB output.
@@DebErney just curious do you get any popping noise in the audio when the mixer is connected to PC via USB? I just got one and everytime i play or stop music i get a pop at the start and end. Also sounds like the USB mixer interface is turning on and off. When i start a song i get a pop then its fine when i pause it I get a lot of hiss from the USB then i hear a popping noise like the mixer USB connection is turning off. Not sure if the mixer is just bad or if that's how it is?
Thanks for the tutorial ... I have a xenyx q802 ... I do everything like you, but i got no lucky, Studio One doesn't recognize the mixer, I have windows 10...
Greetings!
This vid may help. You have to balance the system audio in/out with hardware and the software. Very time consuming but some times necessary. This vid may help th-cam.com/video/Fvt1j7BMZLc/w-d-xo.html
not picking up mic
You made my day Deb, I APPRECIATE YOU #SUBSCRIBED
Thanks for subbing!
not work on Windows 10. Why we are using 3. party drivers? If behringer called this "USB Mixer" they must be give to us smoothly drivers. I will buy extra sound cart for this mixer connection. This is really bad experience...
These mixers were not really designed as usb go to mixers especially with Windows computers. If that’s what your looking for you may want to check out DIGITAL MIXERS.
@@DebErney i bought a new Usb Type-B cable for my Behringer x1222. And problem resolved.
And Im using Behringer 2902 X64 driver. ASIO4ALL driver is not working. Who have same problem I suggest this
solution. Change usb cable and install Behringer 2902 X64 driver.
Excellent -!
Thanks!
