    loved this video, I think this is the perfect balance between keeping the agates intact as much as possible and revealing some of the banding without cutting them and structurally changing them forever

    At 13:40 put your flashlight on those little specks. Usually they are Hematite/Salmon flakes, but I have a few from 2 creeks close to each other, and those specks after VERY close examination are Copper.

    I like the next to the last one. They are so shiny! I have used a tumbler or 3 since I became interested about 4 years ago.Stopped for a couple years and am now back at it. I am using some different approaches, trying to use the same consistency in each barrel. Staying away from ordinary granite.

  • @kirbycraft9325
    @kirbycraft9325 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Monochromatics polish well, but don't reveal details like other agates do. In fact I'm fairly partial to them; painted and jelly. I like how the Jellys look like they have puddles in them; like a drop of water was frozen in time. The Blue is my favorite. I mean that agate is Pacific Blue. I wonder if it's going to turn "milky"? The specks on the mountain agate might be Native Copper. Put your flashlight on it at different angles. Really cool. I haven't been watching Agate vids lately because of Cabin Fever. I'm so ready for the thaw. I believe our Snowpack is going to make for a great start this year. Good job.

    Fun demonstration! The last was my favorite also. It seems as though the little surface holes/tubes you sanded over, weren’t filled in all the way. So where you sanded down to where the tubes’ insides were level with the surface, bands appeared around the tubes. So were the bands formed inside the tube shaped voids?

I wish i could post it on here. It was such a serendipitous find too and it is has a life-size eye on it. It is so cool; I call it my alien eyeball lol!
    I only have a rotary tool to polish, but I wish I had a lapidary set like yours, that thing is so awesome! Hopefully someday!
    What method are you going to use to finish polishing the rest of the stones?
