- Red Dead Redemption is one of the few critically-acclaimed video game franchises without a live-action TV Show adaptation in the works, but if Rockstar Games were to actually agree to one in 2023, who could possibly play the iconic characters from the series such as John Marston and Dutch Van Der Linde?
Well, this video offers up some realistic casting suggestions for all the main characters featured in the much-beloved Red Dead Redemption video game, first released in 2010.

I think Logan Marshal green should play John. As for Dutch I was originally thinking Jeff Bridges since he play in several western films and can play a villain role but he is old so idk.
@@wolfknightstudios5021I feel like an rdr live action would be soooo cool, the only problem I have is some of the characters, (dutch and John for example) have voices that are hard to mimic, so I feel like it wouldn't feel as legit if John didn't sound like John nor dutch like dutch
If they ever make this into a TV show, I hope the first season covers RDR2. Then for the second season go into RDR1. Maybe even do a pilot for season 1 featuring Red Harlow and tying his story into Arthur Morgan’s story.
That’ll be really cool! If red harlow does appear there should be a stand off scene between Red, John and another character a reference and tribute to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
What I think would be cool as that every single chapter is its own season. So we can get like 10 1 hour episodes in one season
Honestly RDR2 has such a long story if they really wanted to they can make a season 1 Chapters 1-2 and Season 2 Chapters 3-4 and Season 3 chapters 5-prologue.
Then from there have what 2-3 more seasons to cover RDR1
I hope the first season actually covers what happens before RDR2

Jeffrey Dean Morgan would've been a better Dutch
I could picture some changes made. Like when Arthur takes Jack fishing, we don’t see their full conversation. Instead we see Abigail overlooking them from Horseshoe and has a conversation with Hosea about John, then Hosea goes over to Dutch discussing their next move. It then cuts to Jack making the necklace for Abigail before the Pinkertons confront Arthur.
Towards the end of the show, after Jack kills Agent Ross, Jack looks at the gun, whom had belonged to John, sets it on the ground, and rides back off as dawn emerges. He then flashes back to fishing with Arthur, and we get to see the full conversation as Arthur explains the meaning of life and what Jack should do with his as he gets older instead of being like him. All of this as Deadman’s Gun plays.
Edit: And maybe in the final season, we get to see what happened in the events of Chapter 6 and the Epilogue we didn’t see. In the beginning of the first episode of the epilogue season, we see where John left off after he was wounded during the train robbery.
In the second episode, we see where Tilly goes and what Sadie does in her after getting Abigail to safety, her early life as a bounty hunter and at the end she finds out rumors of John Marston’s ruckus up in Strawberry.
In the third episode, we see where Charles left off before being found by John and Uncle at the end.
The rest of the season plays out like the rest of the show, some parts of episodes take place before others though so it doesn’t get all over the place.
But the second to last episode will end with John, Sadie, Micah, and Dutch during their standoff with “Now John what were you saying?”
The final episode of that season will show what happened to Dutch after Arthur died, and how he caught up with Micah. We also see Ross show up and examine Arthur’s body. Then in the middle is where Micah is defeated finally, and the ending having Sadie and Charles leave as the Pinkerton’s find out about John via Micah’s investigation.
IMO a Red Dead Redemption series make more sense starting with RDR2 story and than going to RDR1 story.

I would go with Norman Reedus for John. Today, prosthetic make-up can make him look younger. Did you ever watch "Lost"? They made Terry O'Quinn (aged 60s) look mid-40s for flashbacks and it looked GREAT. For RDR2, Roger Clark could still be Arthur.

Logan Marshall-Green has great in Damnation. As an American it pains me to hear Damnation called a Netflix series since it was a USA network original and an underrated one at that, but I get that 90% of viewers probably watched on Netflix.

I really appreciate you keeping to these rules that I see are a problem with most other people's fan cast, especially the age problem. Lots of great actors who would be perfect 10-20 years ago. But especially if casting for RDR2, a lot of the gang are much younger than most of the popular first thought casting choices. You really pulled out some great selections that I'd be thrilled to see

They'd need to do Red Dead Redemption 2 first... as that is the prequel technically. Also, it would be good to give some of the lesser characters in RDR more screen time in RDR 2 first to show off what happened to the gang and what caused them to split.

I’d cast Faith Hill and Tim McGraw as John and Abigail. They were both in the miniseries 1883 and they’d be absolutely PERFECT as those two.

In my opinion, you can't do a Red Dead Redemption TV Series without starting with RDR2. Arthur Morgan's story needs to be seen by as many people as possible.

For some reason I mistakenly thought Keith Carradine was the voice of Marshal Leigh Johnson. This leads me to believe that he'd be a great choice for the role. Unfortunately, Sam Neil is ill and I think he might be done acting altogether.

I'm making my own series from the story on my channel. I have part 1 and part 5 which is the end but I will take them down and re-edit to make them look better and smoother transitions with the editing. Please check it if you are a RDR fan. Best story and game for me.

This is a fun idea, but since GTA and RDR are merely video game homages to hundreds of different crime/ western movies., the TV series would just feel like a rip off of every western movie ever and thus only be inferior to those original movies. At least when it's a video game, YOU are in the story. YOU are Arthur Morgan. As a show, you would be passively watching John/ Arthur's stories play out under the limitations of TV budget/ schedule... and every Red Dead fan would hate the series more than they hate Red Dead Online.
