Delius is my favorite classical composer. I first discovered him in 1970 wen l was 18 years old. ln 1971 l bought the first record with his wonderful music. The first of three records conducted by Thomas Beecham from 1958 - 1963. And it is still magnificent.
Titles like. On hearing the first cuckoo in spring. Summer night on the river. Brigg fair. Fennimore and Gerda. March Caprice and others. Now l am 70 years old, and l can´t live without the music of Frederick Delius. And l love the way these film pictures follow the music. It is absolutely amazing. Thank you very much !

Same here. No music tugs at the heart strings as Delius’. It makes my soul levitate…

And I’ve just discovered him at age 75! Simply sublime.

His early music is just as captivating as his later music. This piece is a good example.

It may be early but it sounds like mature Delois already

I am an ardent Delius fan of many years standing, and this is my first time to hear this work. This is first-rate Delius, along with the Florida Suite and Appalachia. It has always seemed to me that the early works of Delius based on his USA experiences are his very loveliest music. I thank God for this wonderful music that transports me to better worlds away.

I think Robert Threlfall’s splice is at 1:13. The secondary dominant (V7/iii4/2) there would not normally go to a dominant chord. Still, it takes nothing away from this wonderful music

Many people seem to find Delius "boring'. I have no idea why...

It's simple, my dear friend. We live in a world that values crude vulgarity over true beauty. Pity. It's a fallen world.

@@stevebrown3559 To be boring, the music surely needs to be lengthy and colourless, just about the opposite of Delius's.

At 66 years young I’ve just now discovered Deluis. I read about him in a library book titled: “Florida’s Past”. Volume 1. By Gene M. Burnett. Since then I cannot stop listening to his music. How wonderful !
