May 2021 and STILL helping the diesel community. Thank you good Sir. It's because I know these videos are available that I'm confident in buying a 25 year old truck. R.I.P. Ron
Ron gave everyone the greatest gift he could give before he passed. he gave his family a long term TH-cam revenue and gave the world his help for years to come.
2023 and this man is still helping people and teaching how this tucks used to work. I hope Ron’s family are still monitoring this Chanel. Great videos, great teaching and the best of all everything is made with love. I hope God has you on a special place Ron. Rest in peace man
Every time I watch Ron”s videos I’m always grateful for the knowledge he selflessly gave away fro free. I looked this video up for a job I have tomorrow and I wasn’t surprised it was a DieselTechRon video. God bless his family and may Ron be wrenching in the sky.
Rest in peace Ron, I have learned a lot from you and your great videos. I hope that you and Rusty Bunn are spending some quality time together and talking about all the great things you both have done for us all!!
I had been watching his videos for a while and unknown to me he had already passed ever since then I find it important to comment on his videos their clarity and instructions are great RIP Ron
Bless you Ron. Rest in piece, your selflessness and help provided to the powerstroke community will never be forgotten. I only wish I could have shaken your had and said thank you in person.
I'm watching this as I find out that you're no longer with us man you're videos turned my entire career around rest in paradise keep them angels trucks going
Great video with many important details for not only the seal replacement, but also the transmission mounting bracket assembly order. Seal can be installed without special tool, just use a deadblow hammer to install wear ring first, then lube and slide seal on with RTV. Great job!
Just found about Ron ' s death ...thank you for the knowledge you shared with us. ...God bless you and be in peace...my condolences to Ron ' s family and all his friends...you are going to be greatly missed.
I was very sad to hear of Ron's passing. When I was looking for a Powerstroke to haul my 5'ver with, Ron's videos were one of the things I looked at to research what to look for problem wise when buying a 6.0. I found Ron's videos and information in them very helpful in my search for a good used Powerstroke. My condolences to Ron's family and friends, he seemed like a very genuine and down to earth guy and he will surely be missed by those who were close to them and to those of us in the Ford Powerstroke community. RIP Ron.
Such sad news. Thoughts and prayers to his family! Will be greatly missed by every 6.0l owner with a TH-cam account, Helped me about a year ago on something I was stuck on and will be for ever grateful. Rip my friend.
This man saved ALL of us tons of time and money. If you are a Tech and you do this for a living well then face it HE Saved you time and you made money because of that. Donate to his family! They have lost a father, husband and provider. We cant bring him back but we can help the family. Pay that Karma back, pay it forward. Someday your family might need help. You can find the donation tab in DieselTechRons last video.
My Lord, why are all the good ones taken. I miss this guy something awful 😢 I still refer back to your videos Ron, many thanks to your family for leaving us with your educational videos🙏God Bless your family, RIP my brother, til we meet again 🕊🕊🕊
I like that 3/8 battery gun. Doesn't have a silly sized battery like the 18v snap on one. Good to see a guy of older years using battery tools as even at 35 I thought I was too old to buy new/uprated tools lol.
I really would like to own a ford diesel truck one day but im looking videos of common problems and what not but im really sad for ron you will be missed thanks for all this content it will help mw with my future diesel truck when i have it
Este fue el mejor maestro de todos los tiempos y seguirá siendo el mejor. mientras siga en nuestra memoria y nuestros corazón.porque los que aprendí los ago con amor y paciencia como no enseñaste.que Dio te tenga en el mejor lugar amen
Do you advertise for Milwaukee or just really like their tools? They are top notch. ONLY thing they need is to match ingersol rands impact ratchet with ~150 ft/lbs that would be a game changer.
Have you ever had to change that seal a second time? Say if someone installed it incorrectly? How hard is it to get that wear ring back off once it had been glued on with loc tite? Any tips?
Not the 7.3 but the 6.0 many times until it was redesigned. The correct pullers on the 6.0 make it easy. On these or one without a tool I cut it almost through then split it. Loctite let's go with heat.
hey ron, recently did this on my 01, dropped the transmission replace the seal, now the oil leak is fixed, however the transmission now tries to take off in drive not first, if I pull the stick down into first gear it takes off in 2nd. I replaced the tss on the top of the transmission (closest to the bellhousing) didn't fix anything..... speedo does work, checked the harness for cut wires, or corrosion can't find anything.... any ideas?
Hey Ron great video, I'm on a 7.3 build right now and soon will be needing to do the rear main. I've been looking for the tool and can't seem to find that part number on freedom racing. There's many rear main tools listed but none with the part number you stated. Any idea if the number changed. Thanks
Vincent I had the same problem about a month ago when I was searching for a rear main seal press for my 7.3. A friend of mine had offered up some advice to use the flywheel spacer and four flywheel bolt to press down the new wear ring on the crank. This worked perfectly for my needs because if I were to buy the tool I would only use it once.
Great video, is the seal something that should be replaced if the trans is removed for other work? With most 7.3s getting up there in mileage is it worth changing the seal out as preventative maintenance when doing up pipes or torque converters?
I recently got my 6.0 back from the shop where they replaced a fuel injector I noticed that when I filled the coolant up after I starting the truck it would quickly disappear and the little that was left was a light brown color and today as I was turning the truck over it was blowing a lot of white smoke but after a while when it started it cleared, any thoughts
Hi. sounds like the egr cooler. that may, may explain the misfire too. be careful it may hydrolock on you. if possible flush it first. You probably need an oil cooler too. Don't DO NOT USE THE CHINESE JUNK.
hello i come to see your video because i have a 2004 f350 transmission leak, i am about to bring a friend of mine to lowered the transmission what do you recommend?
Hey Ron I just bought a 99 7.3 6 speed, the speedometer won't go above 40mph. Ever had this problem? No abs light on the dash are illuminated and runs and drives fine just no speedometer after 40. Any ideas?
I bought a 3/8 drive Milwaukee cordless impact in 2007 , new it would bust the lug nuts loose on a small pickup , I've left it out in the rain , once ran the thing over with a Bobcat T320 (weighs about 9000lbs with the forestry cutter package) and the cordless impact still works , the battery that was crushed doesn't fit any more .... Go Milwaukee hahah
Hey Ron , off topic question if you don't mind. 2012 F250 6.7 diesel. It's has been at the dealer twice for the same problem , reduced speed. Now it has been towed into the dealer because of idle only came on the dash. First time in they couldn't find the problem , second time they replaced Nox sensor , now third time towed in for idle only , in shop now. Maintenance package so dealer maintenaned and low mileage. Any ideas?
I would need codes. it has some. Reduce power is usually oil temp, exhaust temp or diesel exhaust fluid. I've only seen idle only on Def and exhaust temp. I miss about 80% of the emails on TH-cam. if you write again so it through my website please. If I don't answer.
+DieselTechRon Sure , no problem. soon as I learn more. It shows the def symbol and idle mode. I will certainly let you know what the dealer said. thanks.
+Shackles so apparently as of this morning they are replacing the catalyst. This would be part or the entire exhaust. $5000 job. It does have warranty.
+DieselTechRon so I put the new seal in with the installing tool, used the 609 and rtv, everything is put back together the way it came out and torqued. My old seal didn't have a wear ring, it's the original seal. I started the truck up 4 hours later and there's a loud noise, hard to describe but I can only assume because there's a wear ring, that's what is causing the noise. It's goes away after you go and drive around. I just wanted to know if this is normal after install. Thank you btw for the loctite info.
+LukeTehGamer1 I have never seen one without a wear ring or a noise. Are the bolts tight in the flywheel and torque convertor? What year and trans? Just by luck I saw this question, if I get two off TH-cam my andriod S7 does not show them.
Milwaukee, both of his are Milwaukee brand. He has the 3/8" drive and 1/2" drive brushless version of Milwaukee's impacts. They have the market on lock for breakaway torque and fastening torque in the 1/2" impact . The 3/8" I'm not sure about but with a little research one could find out pretty quick.
Hey Ron, Quick question. I am in the process of changing the 4r100 in my 2001 7.3 and I also changed the rear main seal when I was under there because of a leak. Right now I have the transmission out of the truck, can I start the truck without the transmission or will it cause damage? -Sean
+Sean Mooney I do. that rear adapter is held on by dowels. Maybe I should say put a few bolts on it. use the Trans bolt with a socket as a spacer? I show running them on my 6.o vibration video. if somebody touches or walks into the moving ring gear let me know so I can delete this post. or wait. I suggest not doing this. its all hypothetical right?
+DieselTechRon hey Ron, all went well with the test start. Still got all my fingers and no leaks at the new rear main seal. Thanks for the advice on the test start, it was a big help I appreciate it.
The shield had oil in it. The customer started that it only leaked at times esp after towing. No excessive crankcase pressure. No oil stains anywhere except what and where you see.

Yeah I have enjoyed his videos, he was taken away too soon.
hello i come to see your video because i have a 2004 f350 transmission leak, i am about to bring a friend of mine to lowered the transmission what do you recommend?
The owner, Ron, Passed away last march.
Hey Ron I just bought a 99 7.3 6 speed, the speedometer won't go above 40mph. Ever had this problem? No abs light on the dash are illuminated and runs and drives fine just no speedometer after 40. Any ideas?
What causes valley upper leak?

You should try the brushless series. They will make a believer out of you with the cordless. My air tool drawer is now M-12 M-18 drawer.

Hey Ron, what's the tool number for that 24" pry bar you got from Harbor freight?
Thank you mr. God bless you
I have my seal from Ford and it came with the silicone. What is the exact loctite you are using?
loctite 609 is a press on retaining compound. they have different types if the crank is worn or gouged. if in doubt visit their website.
+DieselTechRon 2000 Ford F-250 with a 4r100, fly wheel is torque to spec and torque converter bolts are tight
+LukeTehGamer1 post a video of the noise.
where are you from ??? i hardly see any rust under that truck i guess you are down south ????
nice, rust free vehicule looks like a real joy to work on hahahah i a tech in a dealership and see 3 years old vehicule full of rust underneath hahah
Bulletproof EGR cooler with Ford oil cooler. 6.0 Powerstroke somewhere in this video Milwaukee feels that Ron is not qualified to use their tools
Will this oil pan trick work with a 7.3L E350 van?
that cordless impact is sweet what is it ?
Milwaukee, both of his are Milwaukee brand. He has the 3/8" drive and 1/2" drive brushless version of Milwaukee's impacts. They have the market on lock for breakaway torque and fastening torque in the 1/2" impact . The 3/8" I'm not sure about but with a little research one could find out pretty quick.
Hey Ron,
Quick question.
I am in the process of changing the 4r100 in my 2001 7.3 and I also changed the rear main seal when I was under there because of a leak. Right now I have the transmission out of the truck, can I start the truck without the transmission or will it cause damage?
-Sean
sorry for the late reply. yes
+DieselTechRon hi Ron thank you for getting back to me, so just to clarify, I can start the truck without the transmission?
+Sean Mooney I do. that rear adapter is held on by dowels. Maybe I should say put a few bolts on it. use the Trans bolt with a socket as a spacer? I show running them on my 6.o vibration video. if somebody touches or walks into the moving ring gear let me know so I can delete this post. or wait. I suggest not doing this. its all hypothetical right?
+DieselTechRon Got it, I just watched your 6.0 vibration video and that cleared things up for me. Thank you.
+DieselTechRon hey Ron, all went well with the test start. Still got all my fingers and no leaks at the new rear main seal. Thanks for the advice on the test start, it was a big help I appreciate it.
Is there anywhere you can rent the rear seal installer tool?
I'll miss you Ron
didnt see a leak, was there more to it? thanks for the videos!
The shield had oil in it. The customer started that it only leaked at times esp after towing. No excessive crankcase pressure. No oil stains anywhere except what and where you see.
