It is very sad to see the Palace of King Thibaw being bombed. As Japanese were defending which made the Allies difficult to go into the royal palace and the Allies have to make this hard decision to bomb the palace.
Thanks. I was told that the japanese destroyed our palace. Now I have seen that British forces shot with cannons to our palace. That's the real history.
MANDALAYA parbat was captured by japanese troops before the end of world war 2 but 4th gurkha rifles of british indian army fought and re captured palace .at that time the priest of the temple gifted a large bell to army men who saved them form japanese force.the commander of last battle group was Mr AITAMAN GURUNG OF LAMJUNG NEPAL.Later he promotion to senior commander of platoon.thats why 4/4 Gurkha rifles called Mandalaye.even my grndfather and father also served in same platoon .
the only reason why they broke through burma is mainly because Of the burmese independence army Because when the independence army left them they start being push back
Bullshit. They did not start being pushed back and in fact the Japanese never even attempted to start trying to push them back. So stop making crap up. If the war had gone on the British were next going to invade Malaya and Singapore and the Japanese would have had no chance. The allies had hundreds of thousands of men.
As a Burmese myself I am very shocked to see our very old and majestic palace just being bombed and set on fire like it’s nothing.
