🔻Song Facts: In Bob’s youth, “Seger wrote this song about his high school years in Ann Arbor, Michigan.”
“The actual street Seger sings about in this song is Ann Street, which was off of Main Street in Ann Arbor. Seger recalled to the Chicago Sun-Times: "It was a club. I can’t remember the name of the club, but the band that played there all the time was called Washboard Willie. They were a Delta and Chicago blues band. Girls would dance in the window. They were a black band, and they were very good. That’s where I would go but I was too young to get in. It wasn’t in a great part of town but college students loved to go there."

The entire show was great for all us old timers that could just let it wash over us. We were THE luckiest generation growing up in the 60s and 70s to have been listening to the greatest music ever. Perfect example of a " haunting " song. It reaches deep into your soul and wells up into your memories and eyes. This song always takes me back to a bowling alley in 70's New Orleans. My friends and I were on a bowling team. This song was a hit, and the alley played it a lot. Along with " Easy " by The Commodores. Two slow songs that got this rocker engaging the melody. I wasn't the only one, I'm sure. Y'all rock. Asia - your vocal renditions of the songs are cool. You have a killer falsetto. Keep on keepin' on, you two. Your videos are a part of my daily ritual. And I know this is true for lots of other Reaction Videos channels viewers.

Bob Seger writes poetry and delivers them though powerful lyrics and beautiful music. Hes in the music writers hall of fame for good reason. His roots were as great guitarist and piano player. He combines it all together to make some of the most beautiful ballads and bangers that make you dance! If you've listened to "Live Bullett" ...you know I'm talking about!

Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. He had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" & "Old Time Rock & Roll".

Bob Seger was on a short list of artists known for the quality of their live shows, and his 1981 album, Nine Tonight, is a concert recording. This song is also on that album and alto sax plays that wailing guitar part that repeats throughout. The solo is still played on electric guitar, but is harder and grimier. Excellent live versions of all his hits, such as "Her Strut," if you haven't heard that one.

"Main Street" was everywhere there's a Main Street. ...not just somewhere in Michigan. Get it? Bob's time at Muscle Shoals, Alabama is where this song was born.

This is my favorite Seger song. He has many. Being a guitar player all my life I immediately recognized that the guitar is played very lyrically. The perfect example of the instruments serving the song. Many of the very top guitar players in history knew how to serve the song with tone and feel. Great job !
Try the Seger song Feel Like a Number

This song was recorded in Muscle Shoals Alabama and people in Muscle Shoals thought it was about their town and people in Detroit thought it was about them. Muscle Shoals was the hit maker of music at that time.

'Seger wrote this song about his high school years in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The song explores the promise of youth, and what Seger calls his "awakening" after being a quiet, awkward kid for most of his youth'
He wasn't in the bar, he was a high schooler that had an infatuation with a girl who happened to work in a bar, hence, his line about looking thru the window..

"We've Got Tonight" should be your next reaction. "... deep in my soul, I've been so lonely all of my hopes fading away. I've longed for love like everyone else does. I know I'll keep searching even after today..." GENIUS!

Oh, those 1970s songs! Why can't anyone write and perform music like this anymore? Glad we have video, and reccords.

Bob recorde this song at Mussle Shoals Stax Records, he generously accepted a suggestion for the guitar riff from a sessionist who was a "swamper" mentioned in a Lynard Skinard song with the lyrics " Mussle Shoals has the Swampers they've been known 4 song or 2" I'll let you discover that one, just keep note
