I'm hoping Azar will return so he can get his just desserts. I even have a story for it. The Traveler takes on a commission in Sumeru from the Forest Rangers. Azar has gone missing from the Avidya Forest region after failing to report back to the Forest Rangers, a violation of his parole (so to speak). Concerned that Azar might be able to do some damage, the Traveler joins the search for Azar. After some exploration, the Traveler discovers Azar collaborating with the Fatui. AGAIN. Azar is giving the Fatui information related to Sumeru City's defenses, which the Fatui could use to infiltrate the city and cause some serious harm. In exchange, Azar wants the Fatui to help him take revenge on those who led to his fall from power: Alhaitham, Cyno, Nilou, Dehya, and the Traveler (plus Tighnari for good measure). Seeing that Azar still hasn't learned his lesson, even after being shown mercy by Nahida, the Traveler busts the meeting. Azar is infuriated that the Traveler is undermining his schemes again. He orders the Fatui to kill them, but the Agent he's meeting with takes the opportunity to literally stab Azar in the back. As Azar dies, the Agent tells the former Grand Sage that he has outlived his usefulness to them, and that he is being rewarded as a traitor deserves. The Traveler defeats the Fatui and then reports back to the Forest Rangers of Azar's demise.
