Hi Shane, we enjoy your channel and it has really helped us with our sales. I am retired and homecare my wife so I can't get out to source much. I have 4 sources that always have books and from what I learned from you my business has doubled! I only shop books now and can do this in just a couple of hours twice a week. Great part time business. Thank you very much, Joseph
Those are neat for sure. Good score. Always worth having a ~$1500 listing. I have several ~$1K+ book listings. Hate the 6 feedback users that message: "I'll give you $200 for that $1200 book. They never sell for $1000+." Then you show them terepeak sales of $900 - 1500+. Then they get blocked.
@@curatorofthelost I had a $19.99 book not long ago and I got a $1 offer on it. I used to just block these people, but I have found that if I send them a nice note thanking them for their offer, but telling them that I don't raise my prices enough to lose that much money by selling books for $1, but I could break even if they could come up to $17.99, I wouldn't mind just breaking even, but I can't afford to lose money on a book since I'm a disabled senior. I sometimes add, (I'm sure if you have a sister or aunt or mother who is disabled, you wouldn't want them to lose that much money. Often times they will go ahead and pay the $17.99. And then there are the people who will send a $7 offer on a $7.99 book and you accept the offer and then they don't bother to pay the $7. I have heard that ebay now requires immediate payment on orders now, but I haven't found that to be true. More's the pity. And what gets me is that the people who offer these lower prices have 100% feedback, stellar feedback, but they don't bother to pay for their book.
I went to DLI-WC, which is Monterrey, in 1973 for Spanish, when I was in the Army. The Russian language course is a CAT1 language and very tough. My daughter went there for Persian and Dari, when she was in the Navy. I wish I still had my course books. I think she still has hers. Thank you for your videos, I always enjoy them.
My husband is always telling me that I should buy and sell thimbles instead of books. He has been to one too many Auctions with me where I have bought several lots. Books are very heavy!
Happy Thanksgiving! The library store in my town has a pretty good selection of other than English language books. I usually just skip by them. I never thought about using google translate. Thanks for the suggestion.
Happy Thanksgiving from Maine! Thank you for all the great videos, I’m 2 months into being a book seller, and you’ve taught me a lot. I appreciate you!
I've sold lots of German books before. And once a lot of romance novels in Finnish. And a complete set of Agatha Christie novels in Spanish. I didn't sell them as a lot, but one at a time for $25 each plus shipping. I paid 35¢ each for them. Probably should've tried to sell them as a lot, but I was a newbie to Ebay at the time.
The local Finnish American Society runs a semi annual yard sale. Always find great Finnish language books along with other books. Always 50 cents a book!
What part of the country do you live in Greg?@@gregfogg1522 Never heard of a Finnish American Society before. Don't need your address or anything personal, just SW, NW, something like that. When I sold the Finnish romance novel lot, it went to Arkansas.
Happy Thanksgiving, Shane ! I have that same shirt, long sleeve, that my kids got me. Best episode ever ! Nice estate sale finds. Love going to good estate sales.
What an interesting haul! Makes me wonder about the previous owner... Also, how long do you have for your lunch break as I just about manage to get to the post office and back in mine! Queuing and shopping for books would definitely be much longer. In terms of your comment about hauling books: it sure is a workout! I frequently find myself heading out for a couple and coming back with anything up to 20kg on my shoulders. And I also live in a first floor apartment, so I'm dragging them up stairs too.
@@curatorofthelost I’m also in a place that can be flexible so certainly something I’ll be considering making use of in the future, if something pops up in my area.
Happy Thanksgiving, Shane! That WKRP Turkey Drop shirt is becoming a channel tradition!! Great score on those Russian language books! Yeah, when your inventory is stored upstairs (or downstairs) those large book bundles can be a pain to transport and pack (as I did yesterday with a lot of 28 Southern Living Annual recipe books!).
I thought Russian books would go well too, but was watching Mike at Golden State Picker and he was tossing them like they were worthless. But people trying to learn Russian or Rusians who have emigrated here....seems like they would go well. I swear by Mike at GSP though. He's a fav, but still....seems like Russian books would go well.
The eternal struggle! I have to say that if it goes into my personal collection- it rarely goes out. I just have to be selective on the in side of things now! Happy Thanksgiving!

Haha. I have had that too. Low ball beat offers that I deny, then they send a nasty gram, then it does sell for full ask!

Very cool. Was DLI as intense as it sounds?

"Broke the girl's spirit on the pricing" - I laughed out loud.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Same to you!

Finnish romance- now there is a niche find!

Haha- yes, this turned into a 2 hour lunch- I stayed late that day! I have flexibility but it is always easier to go out in the lunch hours!

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours Shane! I need to thin my own personal collection out. How do you separate yourself from in my case, my obsession?

Hi! Can you please do a video or series about how you decide which books will go on Amazon and which will go on eBay? Thank you!
Yes! I have an older video on that but will revisit!
Would love a video of step by step process of setting up an Amazon account & how to do all the packing and what not. Great finds!
HI, did you receive the request I sent to your email, last month, I believe, about the shipping box for a paperback book? Thanks.
I missed it but can check!
