    I was a truck driver in the mid 80's & early 90's. Many of the old junk yard tractors had that same low air buzzer. They are mechanical generic devices, from the 60's & early 70's.

      Totally. That’s the first thing I thought of was air pressure, based on experience with M35 and other military trucks.

Less YeeHaw and more a man who truly knows what he’s about and with the patience and persistence to accomplish goals. Very nice. Very entertaining.

    Cummins or CAT... it will run.... Many may really dislike electrical, and I get it. If you want to make your life more enjoyable. Start wiring with Deutsch connector and 21st century relays. I pulled the wiring our of my brothers 79 Z28. Bought a new wiring setup. Mapped my wiring in a spreadsheet...and Deutsch connected everything. If we / he pulls the motor again four connections

    That is the low air warning buzzer. You can check with your state DOT sometimes they allow you to have a light or buzzer in some states you need both. Those buzzers are pretty rude! You can verify it if you want by using shop air to fill the air tanks and see if that cancels out the buzzer.

    Morning Sam! That's a great idea using the motor & trans from a school bus, not to excited about a auto being in your Mack, but you're going to change that out right? But.....this gives me a great idea, I know they put alot of V8 cats(3208) in many school buses, like to do this swap in my 96 Ford F350 dually pickup...

    I'd have pulled the 24 valve and put in a nice mechanical 12 valve. Be a lot easier and less crap to go wrong down the road. Only wiring you need is for the starter and FSS. But the FSS can probably be made mechanical too.

    • @bobbygoertz8513
      @bobbygoertz8513 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nothing wrong with the 24v. 12v is a damn great engine but they are definitely overrated. Put a FASS or an AirDog behind the VP and you won't have a problem. They are super easy to diagnose and repair just like a 12v

    The longer, but simpler solution would be swap out the electronic fuel pump; to a p-pump. Gets rid of the computer for the most part as well. Would that possibly be a project further down the line?

    • @ScrappyIndustries
      @ScrappyIndustries  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably not because this is a 53 block. Either way swapping a 24 valve to a p pump is a big job with a lot of changeover. I didn’t buy it the previous owner already had it in there I would probably just swap in a P pumped 12 valve to your point

    Yes it's nice to have a hand full throttle crank for 10 seconds wait 30 seconds then half throttle crank for another 10 seconds it should start percolating the old secret to starting 471 a 671 and even a silver 92 Detroit Diesel they was dirt when it was cold that way probably wasn't enough fuel in the cylinders and not enough battery when you do that process the fuel will seal the rings off better and then it'll atomized better because I don't think you have enough compression to ignite thanks great video
