You're definitely not alone. This stuff is extremely nostalgic for me. My dad flew planes for his job so every day he would check the weather of the places he was going. It's the background music of my before-school mornings.

Totally agree. The words drifting across the screen, just like the snow flurries outside. There is something so soothing about just thinking about the weather. The music is just full of comfort, happy and chipper. This makes me want to pull the covers up in my toasty hotel room and drift into a soft sleep.

it's so amazing to me how people are bonding over their love of the Weather Channel when we were younger. Honestly, watching the Weather Channel is my absolute FAVORITE memory as a child for so many reasons. Another thing I remember is that I was so sad I thought I would never hear the music again and yet, HERE WE ARE. MY CHILDHOOD NIGHTMARE IS NO MORE.
While I never fell asleep to it when I was younger, I can't deny TWC was very relaxing.
When I grew up, I thought I was the only person who liked watching The Weather Channel.

Not at all! There's a lot more of us than you would think! For me, I started in 1987, going to my grandmothers on the weekends where she had cable. (we didn't at home) When I found that they had a 24/7 weather channel, I was hooked from then on...and having the smooth jazz during the awesome local forecasts?! Simply bliss!

I'm neither an American or anything nor was I born at the time when this was the default layout, but I miss the old TWC and I want it back. The music is what brought me to liking weather and would love to see it in TV one day! I don't like the current direction the channel's going at myself...
My sweet grandparents (born in the early 20s, so from a VERY different era) didn’t have cable TV at their house, so I was stuck with whatever was on one of the 12 channels (4+ were straight static), and PBS kids programming concluded at 5pm, so many an evening was spent at grandma and grandpa’s kitchen TV watching Local on the 8’s. Good times.

I used to watch the weather channel quite a bit as a teen back in the late 90's and early 2000's. I used to have it while I would think. The music they had on there relaxed me and the weather people were easy going. Remember this was before I and many other people had the internet and this was what we used to do.
This was the good years when life was simpler
You hit it on the nail. Weather channel gave me a warm and cozy feeling.
Imagine, back in the day, using a VHS tape to record an hour of this. 😂

Seeing the weather from Wilmington, my home town, is surreal in that Iv'e probably seen this exact weather report when it was live. Given the date says Saturday January 2nd, its most likely 1993.
93 had a blizzard though.
That was one of the biggest storms in history for our time. It was called the storm of the century. I don't think this weather report was from that. This is incredible. I just knew i was the only one in the world who fell asleep on the living room sofa listening to the Weather Channel local forecast music as a kid back in the late 80s and early 90s. "Local on the 8s" So soothing and comforting.

Early 90's as a child when i could sneak inside from a hot Texas day of being grounded outside till street lights came on I'd watch the weather channel...water Not from a hot hose was a luxury. I just had a fantastic brief lapse of mental fluidity with describing what I am listening to. At first i thought frutiger aero era tutorial music, and then started thinking of "signalwave". I then thought of that leap point from vaporwave and that feeling of not having a "footing" in what i am listening to because I am listening to something that is new. And that entire train of thought got me so happy, i love this genre of music for what it makes me think, feel, and its ability to grow.
