I've beaten Skyrim many times but I just started playing it in VR about 2 weeks ago. One moment that really struck me was exiting Bleak Falls Barrow. I just sat down for a couple mins, listening to the wind and looking up at the night sky with the Jerall mountains in the distance and the aurora above me. Was probably the most immersive moment I've had in a game

I’ve put over 900 hours into flatscreen Skyrim. In vr for the first time I looked up and had to truly admire how beautiful the night sky is. I lay there, literally laying down on my real physical floor, in the Whiterun market for about half an hour just looking up at the sky almost like I was meditating! Absolutely the best way to experience Skyrim 👌
The architecture has a completely different presence, the old tombs- the great halls... a new appreciation for something we've all seen 100 times before.

Got HTC Vive in 2018, played Skyrim for the first time in VR. Started in may, finished the game in september. I haven't used any mods and the experience was great (except for item management). I absolutely fell in love with archery. I have so many great memories from the game - like the one time when I left the tavern and town guards were fighting a dragon sitting atop a house and breathing fire. I've paid full price and it was worth every penny...
@@happygosunday haven't played much of it yet but got the mods all installed and the game is working well just going to take sometime getting used to but it's looking good so far I will enjoy and thank you!
I have trained my body to physically overcome motion sickness already. Also, you can buff up fps and hardware too, it also helps. VR setting also ( I use rotate: immediately, this helps a lot)
"I still found myself talking to every NPC out loud" Now you need the mods that give NPCs AI + voice generation for the AI + the ability to hear and understand your speech. That + VR = basically magic
I dont know if I missed this part in the video , but would you recommend someone who never played skyrim to experience it for the first time in the VR version?
I run minimalist wabbajack, with Mantella chat gpt, the most immersive VR experience I have. Being as I’d never played Skyrim before VR I’m absolutely loving the whole experience. Stunningly beautiful, both the scenery and the Bijin ladies iykwim ;) I speak with npc’s and they speak back- mind blowing.
This is the only game that threw away that guilty feeling I had playing games . Of course without nexusmods it wouldn't be as beautiful and amazing as it currently sits today.
I lost weight playing VR. It's insane how little extra movement is enough to loose the weight, and you're having fun doing the movements. Let's just say some VR "games" require a lot of movement.
I'm a simple guy from a Russian village. But in spite of that I earned money for equipment and played Skyrim VR. I installed about 300 modifications to this game and spent about 140 hours (and maybe more) in it. And I think it is one of the best games for virtual reality. Now when I log into it I feel like I'm at home lol
To me this is probably the best game Ive ever played full stop. Its just a shame there arent more vr games like it. I deliberately am not really trying to complete the main quest because like gta its just fun to be in the game
Skyrim vr was great for 2018 in psvr & yes pc version is different story , it's not just about mods , it's also about sharpening , i played it in quest 2 with maximum steam sharpening and 3000 pixels rendering and it's just mind blowing . Everything is crystal clear , even I can see the far distance very sharp same as real world , psvr 1 was blurry . I think half life alyx and Skyrim vr are just amazing
I would love to see Oblivion in VR. The only chance i'll ever get is if someone can convert skyblivion into VR once it's released. I'd never be seen in public again
Fallout 4 VR was my first ever Bethesda game. I played it for over 100 hours last year, without any mods & thought it was amazing. I've been playing Skyrim VR with mods for for about 90 hours & I too am addicted. What an incredible game, just the music alone. I'm having a blast, the grandeur of the locations, the weather effects (with mods some of the best I've seen in any game, best rain, realistic clouds on mountains etc.), hand tracked archery is so much fun as you mentioned, all the great looking & varying weapons / armor etc. Everyone into PCVR should play this unless they're all Skyrimmed out from multiple previous playthroughs.
as someone whos never played a second of skyrim, the hardest part for me was getting the mods to work for vr without changing content at all. things like higgs and vrik and a couple others people recomended like mesh improvement. im excited to finally jump in soon but im still worried it may have not been worth the wait.
It's a shame this version of the game and FO4 VR were half-assed. Modding them to more in line with other VR games shows how much fun they can be, but many people write them off because unmodded they're pretty underwhelming.
welcome to the club. it's a great game in itself, but VR takes the immersion to new heights and increases the appreciation for the game and the community around it. (Mods) Great Video !
This game is shit in VR. Let's not give Bethesda credit* all they did was make it work in VR* the community is the one who made Skyrim VR actually a VR game. Without mods Skyrim VR is one of the worst VR games.
@@ducktape4502 Do you think I'm interested? it's classic whether you live in a world with pyramids or a world without pyramids, the fact that this even exists is enough for me and the good thing about mods is that you can make the game what you want. + I disagree with you, I played through it once on playstation, of course the computer version is better and the mods make it even better, but to say that it is one of the worst vr games without mods is just arrogance and doomerism. have a nice day. Bye.
I highly recommend the 'Dragonborn Speaks Naturally' mod. It enables the player to actually speak the line of dialogue when given a multiple choice option in conversation with an NPC. You can advance the conversation by actually saying out loud the dialogue option of your choice, it really makes it feel like you are talking to another person. You can also add voice commands like equipping spells or weapons in each hand and even console commands like "Give me lots of money" *adds 1000 gold*
Never played Skyrim but then I got a psvr with the ps5 and wow, have to say I'm glad I waited, it's so immersive. even on the old psvr it's breathtaking
Thanks for the mod list! I tried to immerse myself in Skyrim VR couple of years ago but ended up modding the game to the point I couldn’t jump the roof on the first location 😂. And never returned to the crime scene
I would get this but there is a problem. I have the mantella mod, the ai mod which lets you talk to any npc in skyrim with your voice. It’s already too immersive and I spend 20 hours on a single quest. If I ever got vr I think Skyrim would just become my life and that scares me.
Its amazing to behold when you're basically IN the game. I agree and had a great time with it. Mods greatly helped and I even played a melee character with sword and shield, no magic and it was great even though melee was touted as a major weak point. I just made sure not to learn about how the combat system worked in an attempt to remain blissfully ignorant of its limitations and tried to simply usse the sword/shield as I thought I would in real life with all their real-world weight and inertia and it felt great. This was a long time ago and the combat mods were amazing then and many more very interesting ones have probably come out since. I recommend the ones that make your swords dangerous, but also the enemies, so its about quickness of movements and stealth and strategy/planning, rather than being "bullet sponge" brute force.
The one game I’ll always remember from vr was Here they lie. It really freaked me out. It felt like I was in a real place full of lunatics. There was a section where you walk through a club. It was like being in a gaspar noe film. It genuinely freaked me out.
After tens of thousands of hours in Skyrim il likely never play the game again either on pc or console, but VR? It's super tempting to get an index just for this. I hope it'd come to psvr 2 since that's what I have though
Can you rapid-fire bows in Skyrim VR PC? Because I did that in Skyrim PSVR for a goof, one Move controller aiming, another controller trigger-let go-trigger-let go-trigger-let go repeatedly with the right timing. Played on Expert mode right from the start, giants were no threat, nothing was a threat, it's like you were the greatest archer in the whole world, but from a non-stealth school of archery for once.
I swear I’ve bought this game so many times, and if it comes to quest I’d buy it again. Don’t know what it is about the game, but I can’t help but keep returning to the game!
I got a PSVR2 a few months ago, I plan on getting the PC adapter in August, and am very looking forward to trying out Skyrim VR on PC. I tried it when it first released on the PS4 years ago with the first PSVR. The simplicity killed it for me, but I've been researching all the mods. I do already have Skyrim on PC with mods, and have a perfect mod list for that version. I saw some awesome VR mods like the ones you listed, and I have also been practicing for this kind of gameplay with Legendary Tales. I do have one question that I have not been able to figure out. How do NPC animations work? For example on Skyrim SE, I have a bunch of mods that add new combat animations, walking animations, ect. These mods affect your character and NPCs and while I obviously the only animation mods I need for VR are the ones specific for VR, but do these mods still work on NPCs? Modes like Ultimate Combat, Conditional Armor Types, & SCAR Combat animations?
I recently bought a Quest 3 and am playing Skyrim VR almost daily. It is like playing the game for the first time, except you know what to do and where to go. Mods work with this as well.
I do realistic mods to break my pc as a measurement of current tech. Last time i did this was valve cosmos elite and i7 32 gb ram and 1080 gtx. I'll probably do it again with whatever comes after quest 3 and a new pc
I have been playing VR since 2016 with the HTC VIVE. It has been amazing. I wanted to get a Valve Index when it was announced but I was not in a hurry. I have been shopping around for a new VR. I did not want a Oculus or Meta Quest at the time. Worse when Facebook or Meta Announced a must have Facebook to even use one. But now, STEAM Link is available on Oculus. I have not bought a Oculus Head set yet, but I borrowed my brothers. He is into VR and has a Oculus Pro that is a $999 head set. I wanted to try before I buy of course. Oh Man, let me tell you Steam Link works almost flawlessly. I played a lot of my VR games I own like Half-Life Alyx an Shooty Fruity. Wireless High Quality PC gaming Streaming to your VR headset works amazing. You actually forget the game is streaming. Very Minimal Latency and Lag. Controls great. I think I will buy me a Meta Quest now, that I am able to use Steam with it. Great Video. I love VR on PC also due to Moddding.
"If price isn't an issue...." but for most people, it is. And the mod process is not simple either. That's why there IS such a large player base on PSVR. I've been playing it on PSVR since launch and it's amazing, even without mods. And I've never had it crash on me.
I lived in my headset till I beat the whole game again when it launched on steam. Haven't tried it with mods yet though. But I was blown away by vanilla SkyrimVR so I'm sure I'd love it modded.
I’m curious about Skyrim VR mods. What is the most amazing mod you have tried so far? Is Wabbajack still the best option for installing mods easily? Or do you prefer to customize your own mod list? Is there any mod that makes the game look stunning without much hassle? Looking for that plug and play feel ☺️

Skyrim VR without MODs is like eating icecream with no flavour. You need the mods.
Just got the VR now can't wait to play it
Hope you enjoy it!
@@happygosunday haven't played much of it yet but got the mods all installed and the game is working well just going to take sometime getting used to but it's looking good so far I will enjoy and thank you!
If Skyrim was the only VR game available, I'd still pay the 3k for my setup to play it. 😊
8:01 If you add Mantella, then the NPCs *can* hear you and respond to you.
Skyrim vr with you-know-what-types-of-mods and flying mod is the best thing ever.
i played skyrim vr once and it made me so motion sick i threw up, truly the best reaction to yet another skyrim release
Same. 5 times over an hour after finishing playing, and then driving car for an hour haha
yeah get vr ready first in other games.
Do you get used to the motion sickness? @@thevikingsock8527
I have trained my body to physically overcome motion sickness already. Also, you can buff up fps and hardware too, it also helps. VR setting also ( I use rotate: immediately, this helps a lot)
It can take a while to get used to VR. Once you have acquired your "VR legs" it should be possible to play without motion sickness.
"I still found myself talking to every NPC out loud"
Now you need the mods that give NPCs AI + voice generation for the AI + the ability to hear and understand your speech.
That + VR = basically magic
I dont know if I missed this part in the video , but would you recommend someone who never played skyrim to experience it for the first time in the VR version?
He says he thinks it’s the best way to play the game so he would probably also agree that new players should play in VR, if they can.
Skyrim vr with mods is life changing. ❤
Your life hasnt changed
I'm a simple guy from a Russian village. But in spite of that I earned money for equipment and played Skyrim VR. I installed about 300 modifications to this game and spent about 140 hours (and maybe more) in it. And I think it is one of the best games for virtual reality. Now when I log into it I feel like I'm at home lol
To me this is probably the best game Ive ever played full stop. Its just a shame there arent more vr games like it. I deliberately am not really trying to complete the main quest because like gta its just fun to be in the game
I'm so sad Fallout 4 VR is in a worse state than skyrim because I would live in the wasteland
Tried it for the first time today, I had a great time.
How do you get to the VR sharpening and rendering in Steam?
I would love to see Oblivion in VR. The only chance i'll ever get is if someone can convert skyblivion into VR once it's released. I'd never be seen in public again
Having 3 pet dragons and just being a absolute unit in Skyrim vr is peak
0.44 That's got to be the funniest VR video I've ever seen
as someone whos never played a second of skyrim, the hardest part for me was getting the mods to work for vr without changing content at all. things like higgs and vrik and a couple others people recomended like mesh improvement. im excited to finally jump in soon but im still worried it may have not been worth the wait.
It's a shame this version of the game and FO4 VR were half-assed. Modding them to more in line with other VR games shows how much fun they can be, but many people write them off because unmodded they're pretty underwhelming.
Yep, that’s the reason I avoided it for so long. I’m hoping to shed some more light on it and get more people to try it
4:53 Ahh, when you said ''but hey'' - you had it all,, _and blew it!!_ 😅😄
(but hey ,, it _just works!)_
Would this work on the quest 3? I have zero interest in the valve index. (way too expensive for my tastes)
welcome to the club. it's a great game in itself, but VR takes the immersion to new heights and increases the appreciation for the game and the community around it. (Mods)
Great Video !
Bye.
Would you recommend this to someone who hasn't played Skyrim yet?
Yes!
I couldn't finish watching your TH-cam as I had to get the game and mods :)
Dont take it personally but everytime i hear anyone talking that bethesda game is a masterpiece they start talking about the mods😂😂
Only true chads know this is a reupload
I highly recommend the 'Dragonborn Speaks Naturally' mod. It enables the player to actually speak the line of dialogue when given a multiple choice option in conversation with an NPC. You can advance the conversation by actually saying out loud the dialogue option of your choice, it really makes it feel like you are talking to another person. You can also add voice commands like equipping spells or weapons in each hand and even console commands like "Give me lots of money" *adds 1000 gold*
I recommend Fus Ro Dah Wabbajack mod pack. It has some of the mods you recommend and a lot more that make the game more interactive and good looking.
Combine this with KAT VR Treadmill, vest, arm, hand haptics and it will blow people's minds. We just have to wait for the prices to go down.
Never played Skyrim but then I got a psvr with the ps5 and wow, have to say I'm glad I waited, it's so immersive. even on the old psvr it's breathtaking
Been playing Skyrim with Mantella, the ai mod, absolutely insane.
One thing vr does well is impress a since of size. First time I flew up to the Death Star in vr. 🤯
Standing before Balgruuf for the first time, looking up at him as he spoke to me really hit home about how good this was.
just started and having fun
Thanks for the mod list! I tried to immerse myself in Skyrim VR couple of years ago but ended up modding the game to the point I couldn’t jump the roof on the first location 😂. And never returned to the crime scene
I would get this but there is a problem. I have the mantella mod, the ai mod which lets you talk to any npc in skyrim with your voice. It’s already too immersive and I spend 20 hours on a single quest. If I ever got vr I think Skyrim would just become my life and that scares me.
5:17 so satisfying 😂😂😂
"Skyrim is a masterpiece ... after you install a dozen mods." That's such a Bethesda compliment, isn't it?
Can someone tell me how to capture skyrim vr widescreen?
Skyrim will never die. This game is here to stay.
It genuinely freaked me out.
who would have thought that without access to the modding network Skyrim wouldn't live up to it's true glory
Mods work with this as well.
dw the meta quest 3 can play skyrim vr heavily modded without a linking cable - can confirm I am loving it
skyrim vr with mods and herika the ai companion is decades ahead of gaming
I do realistic mods to break my pc as a measurement of current tech. Last time i did this was valve cosmos elite and i7 32 gb ram and 1080 gtx. I'll probably do it again with whatever comes after quest 3 and a new pc
Let us know how it goes!
Never played Skyrim, but I love VR open worlds games. I hope Rockstar bring out Red Dead in VR one day
I have been playing VR since 2016 with the HTC VIVE.
Oh Man, let me tell you
Steam Link works almost flawlessly.
Thanks for the unatco theme. gonna reinstall now.
Personally, I go for my own custom mod list. If you go through a mod manager like vortex, it’s pretty simple and doesn’t take long
Check out Pseudo Physical Weapon Collision and Parry. Its a new must have for me.
The think I hated about Skyrim vr was the inventory management.
So how is the updated version? Im still pretty pissed that the update broke all my mods i cant get past the loading screen
Skyrim VR is one of my favorite games. I played in the original PSVR. Wish I could play wirelessly on my Quest 3.
Amazing review !!! I'm gonna have to get this. I play skyrim so much already . I take a month off when I get burnt out and play borderlands. Then back to skyrim lol. I need the vr
I tried it with the quest 2 via Steam and it wasn't a good experience.. stutters etc ..
I have a Q3 now and 3080ti so I will try it again.
Great video! I do have a PSVR 2 but there's unfortunately no port for that but I am excited that I might get a chance to try this when the PC support comes :) Any idea what that music is from 4:57? It's killing me!
