  • Don't miss this important discussion between Dr. James White and Pastor Jeff Durbin as they respond to recent videos produced by a small group of men who identify as Independent Fundamentalist Separated Baptists. These are men who work closely with and identify with the doctrinal and methodological practices of a well-known false teacher and spiritual abuser, Steven Anderson. James and Jeff are concerned for the people who are under these men's teaching and committed to respond to some central aspects of their false teachings for the benefit of these men; but in particular for the people being deceived by their doctrine and practice.
Bonus: There is a debate on Romans 8 with one of these men in this video.

You guys are incredible and have been a huge influence on my little small town ministry. I’m from very rural Alabama and KJV onlyism is huge here. Both of you, especially Dr. White have equipped me to combat this falsehood. I’m proud to be a reformed baptist in an area where I’m largely alone in that regard. Sola scriptura has changed my life. I’m now a 5 point Calvinist just like the Bible teaches.

The freedom you found in your life and in seeking God confounds them. The live in a bubble of fear.

You are condemning a brother with hearsay. Unbiblical. God would use a Donkey to speak the gospel of men didn’t. You can’t limit the kingdom of God to your small little circle. Also, if he preached works based salvation. I’d be out from the first word. I have listed to hrs upon hours, and never hear that. Their spirit and body where both alive at the same time. I asked a doubter of the idea that the spirit is dead, could God have meant when He said you shall surely die, an immediate spirit death, and a sentence of the death at the end of their physical life?...silence on the other side.

Yes! He gives us new life. God breaths life into his elect. To know your own inability to seek Him is essential. The obvious pride of these people who oppose the words of Jesus and Paul just screams of their own inability to understand. Attacking the children of God shows it. I'm only 29 minutes into this program and you just played the clip of the man saying, "James White, go to Hell" & my heart sank because, if the man who said these words is a supposed saved Christian, how disturbing for calling damnation to you. Shouldn't he be saying, "I will be praying for you and your salvation"? Jesus ate with the tax collectors, He sat with sinners, He looked out for the lost.
I don't believe your unsaved by the way. I have been listening to Jeff Durbin for a couple years now, coming out from the Prosperity Herrassy & finally hearing The Word in context that my heart has been starving for.

I agree that there are some jerks in the IFB movement; however, I proudly call myself IFB and am not embarrassed to do so. I'm proud of my KJV Bible, and I'm not going to condemn others for using different translations. But I expect the same in return. There are Independent Baptists who are not Andersonites.

    • @MansterBear
      @MansterBear 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I've never seen anyone condemn the use of KJV. In fact, I've never heard anyone say "this is the only true bible" other than KJVO's. Everyone who reads ESV, NASB, etc all think the KJV is fine as well. In fact, I read my ESV with my KJV side by side, to try to 'learn' the language of the KJV a little better. But I've never seen anyone saying that you can't be saved using a KJV, or that the KJV is of Satan. It's exclusively the KJVO's that say that about everyone else.
Now, I know plenty of people who prefer the KJV and that's fine. The only time there is an issue when it's taken a step further and say things like Anderson says, that you can't be saved unless you hear the gospel from a KJV. That's getting close to idol worship, in my opinion.

You just triggered one of my pet peeves. I'm 40 years a martial arts instructor, I'm skilled at kenjitsu and Iaido as well as the fact that my mother's family are Japanese from the former (at once glorious) Samurai class. LOL
The curvature on the katana is not to get under Armour that was not it's purpose, that is a western myth.
The curvature was due to physics, construction, the cooling process, as well as it provided a larger cutting surface / shorter distance. For example, you can measure the actual cutting surface of the blade to be 27 in Long, well when you measure from the top end of the blade to the tip it takes up a space of 24 to 25 in.
In short, these blades were not made to chop or poke but to slice as drawn across the object, usually another Samurai. The physical properties of the blade allowed this to happen.
They wanted to maximize body movement, arm movement, as well as posture, in order to create the most damage with what they had.
The Ninja-to however was designed the way it was number one it was easier to make, number two it was easier to conceal and carry.
Thus ends the lesson of the two swords LOL
    God bless.

How about Leviticus 19 : 19 "Ye shall keep my statutes. Jason is a *2* on a *1 to 10* scale as far as being brash, bull headed, demeaning & all the rest that has come to be characteristic of those in the movement. Jason is mild mannered, soft spoken & a gentleman for the most part, and that *CANNOT* be said of many in the cult. I do wish James would have had Jason address the constant name calling, false accusations, railing, gossip, slander and the rest that their movement is known for.
Most know too that Jason had a Catholic background, and has had no formal biblical education, other than sitting at the feet of Steven Anderson and others in the movement. They all hold a disdain for higher education...preach against colleges (even any with a non biblical emphasis), and can be found mocking those who even *USE* the word "exegesis".
If any of the other leaders in the movement that are let's say a *6 to 10* (on that same scale where *BRASHNESS* and *FOUL MOUTHED* and flat out *UNGODLY* register) were to agree to a similar formatted "debate", it would turn ugly in a heartbeat. They might tone it down a bit, but they won't renounce a/thing they've said previously. When men of "faith" belittle each other it tends to smear all Christians with a dirty cloth. I can't after months of study ascribe God's will that some (trillions+) die in sin without ANY hope. I grew up in Church and from the youngest age knew about Jesus, sin and salvation. No one had to convince me of the Truth, I knew and believed before I could actively rebel of my own choice. A Calvinist would say I could never reach the conclusion to believe because I was "dead" spiritually.

I also disagree with this "try Jesus' stuff. However, I don't think we should push people away who use that approach to apologetics, we should simply correct them. If they are genuine brothers and sisters they will listen. I say that because, in my experience, "trying Jesus" ended up with me genuinely finding Christ. I'm not saying that me trying Jesus worked. But it was Gods set up to save me. I'm not saying this because I think Jeff or James are doing anything more than trying to correct people, but im saying that because I know often when we find things to be wrong, its easy to condemn or mock people for doing it. Some people have been saved through trying Jesus, however that isn't the approach we should use. I haven't seen anyone be hostile in the comments yet, but just for future reference, be gentle when correcting people, you may cause truly saved people to doubt their salvation.

    • @specialk7715
      @specialk7715 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I’m really confused... I really don’t understand how one can even “try” Jesus? What does that even mean??
I agree....if a Christian who doesn’t know any better and tells someone to so-call “try” Jesus.. Than yes we can correct them and let them know, that is in no way shape or form, the message of the gospel we are to preach.
BUT... for a very well known evangelist, someone who literally represents the Christian faith in America.. To tell millions of people on national television, to “give Jesus a 30 day trial” is absolutely shocking and absurd!! And that needs to be rebuked!
I don’t believe that you, as you say “tried Jesus” in any way, I believe what God says in his word... which is the fact that God granted you the gift to believe in Christ and put your faith in him.
Because the bible says “no one seeks for God.”
      “There is no God seeker.”
And.. “The mind that is set on the flesh is hostile towards God, it does not submit to Gods law; Indeed it CANNOT.”
These are people who don’t believe, they live in the flesh, their hearts are hardened and they are not willing to even “try” to believe. Because they are rebels against God, who love their sin and are dead to sin.
And the only one who can raise them to life, soften their hearts and open their eyes is God and God alone!
Which he obviously did with you and praise God for that!

Calvin merely saw what was already in Scripture and systematized it using logic, which God calls us to use. When the Scriptures are understood properly, it destroys man's pride and arrogance because we realize that our salvation is entirely of God's doing and we are utterly undeserving of even the opportunity. Man's supposed "free will" is the ultimate idol, which Satan proposed to Eve in the Garden, and is the peak of arrogance.

To think so is prideful, as it is written, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."

The discussion of the order of salvation is important to our understanding of the nature of God Himself. In time, we experience belief as a matter of personal choice because of our creatureliness. "I make a decision for Christ". The discussion changes when we recognize that the bible teaches Strong Sovereignty - see Ephesians 1:1-5. and John 6:36-44.
John 3 and Jesus discussion with Nichademus tells us that Jesus taught one must be born again. He speaks as if it is something done to you not something you do. This term we call regeneration. God by His grace Grant's repentance and faith by taking out our heart of stone giving us a heart of flesh changes our affections and we are now born again.

Hey this idea that only the early church was doing things right is a major fallacy. But beyond that it goes against what Paul warns us about.
This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me (Paul); of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
So towards the end of Paul's apostleship, we see that many of the saved people hence ALL Asia, once saved always saved by the way, turned from Paul's gospel. So this is in Paul's day. So trying to say anything or anyone like the "church fathers" that are closest to the time period is going to be the most accurate fly's in the face of Paul's epistles.
That verse also disproves Calvinism because how can the elect turn from Paul the apostle?
They even had spiritual gifts in those days. And you would try to peddle that a Christian can believe in vain? But if one thinks he's saved, but falls of into sin, then he was never saved. Correct? He wasn't truly elected. His faith was vain right?
So who then is Paul talking about that ALL Asia turned away from him? He even gives you by name an example, and even tells you that the man at one time ministered unto him (Paul) at Ephesus. This guy is a SAVED Man. A member of our body. But he turned from Paul's gospel.
The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day
That day is the judgment seat of Christ. I hope you realize that. Paul is talking about his reward. And makes mention of how he once was, and prays that the Lord will not burn everything up because of how he once was. But he, that man himself, shall be saved. As well as all other apostate Christians in like manner.
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Know ye not these things? Is the man destroyed? No, the verse just told you he himself is saved because the Holy Spirit is in him. But what isn't saved in the passage. HIS WORKS. He forsook Paul. Much of Christendom since Paul has done this. Let's not continue in that way.

Calvinists refuse to abide by Church history. The “doctrine of grace” only began to germinate with Augustine. Our Patristic Church Fathers specifically taught AGAINST determinism. Calvin admitted that this is a “new” doctrine not found in the writings of the early Church Fathers. That’s interesting, because according to Calvinists, the doctrine of grace is the gospel. Anything less is considered a “works” gospel. How were all those people saved by a “works” gospel? Any time you have group of people that say they have a new revealed version of the gospel contrary to tradition - we usually consider them a cult.
As soon as one brings up the authority of the Patristic Church Fathers, Calvanists normally begin to loose respect for them and attack them. For them Church history begins with Augustine.
Enough with Pelagian. His works were destroyed by the Church of Rome. We do not know what he truly taught. We only know what his enemies said about him; and remember, the same people that condemned him, condemned you as a Calvanist.
That being said, I only refer to the doctrines that they are discussing. I appreciate other aspects of their ministries.

I know that theirs people who debate James and still do not hear what he’s saying or scripture for that fact. But where I’m concerned is I immediately understood what James white was saying and I one hundred percent can see this is what god is really saying but would I have came to this conclusion on my own or did god mean for me to see James white and then gain an understanding. So I guess I’m asking did god give me this knowledge or did James white. I don’t go to church because of bad experiences but I do listen to hundreds of preachers. I’ve read the Old Testament probably six times and have not once gotten to the New Testament and I can see Jesus all through out it, so this might be an hindrance to my understanding on grace. Does this make me a saved reborn Christian since I can hear James white or could I not know because I didn’t come to this conclusion on my own? I guess that’s my big question.

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
      1 Corinthians 2:14
14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God(A) but considers them foolishness,(B) and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
      John 6:37,41-44,64-65
[37]All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
[41]At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
[42]They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”
[43]“Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered.
[44]“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.
[64]Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.
[65]He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

40 And Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he [b]replied, “Say it, Teacher.” 41 “A moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred [c]denarii, and the other fifty. 42 When they were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?” 43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have judged correctly.” 44 Turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You gave Me no kiss; but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume. 47 For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

When they always criticize the other side for not studying their reformed position properly, they should atleast listen to some lectures About the easy believism understanding of repentence. Doesn't the Calvinist view of God glorifying Himself through Christs work on the Cross of Calvary imply a process, or time, upon Him, thus fixing Him in a timeline and thus Him not being perfect from and for all eternity? I'm very curious what your stance is on this matter. God bless!

    • @michaelsnyder9047
      @michaelsnyder9047 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Jesus Himself prayed: "These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was..."
      John 17:1-5
      goo.gl/kNQdzo
This proves that Jesus 1) Was a part of the God head, 2) Was glorified by God and 3) was Himself glorified. PS, I'm not a Calvinist per se, but a firm believer in the Holy Bible. The God head is eternal, but The Word became flesh and dwelt among men. (See John 1).

    • @LaLajki
      @LaLajki 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@michaelsnyder9047 that doesn't answer my question at all. I wasn't asking about the Trinity which I'm a firm believer of. What you're talking about actually proves the two natures of Christ and how he is fully divine and fully human at the same time. The Calvinist position is that GOD THE FATHER was involved in a process of glorifying Himself through the work of Christ. The problem is that this completely negates his eternal perfection and His NOT BEING BOUND BY TIME. He is perfect already, ALWAYS was and ALWAYS will be. ANY kind of process, such as GLORIFICATION completely destroys His PERFECT AND ETERNAL nature from a theological standpoint. God bless

God created time, so he works outside of it. But God also entered into time and works from the inside as well.
By way of analogy, when mathematicians visualize a 4d object, they project it onto a 3d image and then do various rotations and translations to show how the shape interacts with the projection. We can't picture the shape as a whole, just the slice of it we see. A 2d creature would have the same problem with understanding a 3d object, yet we can perceive it as it is.
Where we see small slices of time in a sequence, I think God sees and interacts with time as a whole entity, like how we see the 3d object. God does not experience time like we do, and God working in time does not implication otherwise.

And with Anderson, it's not just his demeanor/style/temperment/etc that is bad, but he's off on too many doctrines and continues to *NOT* just double down on matters, but he brings them up *CONSTANTLY* and hammers them into his people's heads. I didn’t watch the whole thing yet, but I’d like to say something, when I was first born again I naturally started looking for Gods word online through TH-cam and I found Steven Anderson, and it’s interesting as I was watching my mom came in and we started listening together(my mom is born again) and Steven Anderson was talking about “punks” who say “it’s all about a personal relationship with Jesus” then he said something like “no it’s not like that” and my mom catcher on in very quick bc I was like 2 days old in being born again and my mom said watch who you listen too, I mean I was only watching to get the basics of Christianity b/c I finally understood Jesus after I was saved. But yeah .. naturally I didn’t really see his preaching fitting and I usually watch like ....ChristForgivnessMinistries Pastor David Lyn, of course I have a public church but I like seeing different churches around the world.

Some of the points introduced in this video are valid for sure. But any suggestion that the King James 1611 has inconsistencies without acknowledging that the modern versions have far less consistency is misleading and disingenuous. These two mature elders of the faith should know better than to do that, even at the risk of creating the appearance of evil.
The fact is that modern/contemporary copyright laws require each version to be different to avoid copyright infringement and to profit from publishing rights. Thus, a secular government (with strong Jesuit and Zionist influence) has invented and implemented a system by which Christ-professing men are forced at the risk of lost resources to succumb to the strong influences of mammon and filthy lucre. That point can never be ignored or diminished in the context of Proverbs 30:5-6, Deuteronomy 4:2, Revelation 22:17-18, and other clear passages that warn against adding to or taking away from God's word. That, my friends, should then be the standard for a Bible translation. But thanks to the Jesuit/Zionist deceivers that has become just about impossible.
