This is precisely what I sought to do in my first book on African inspired religion in black Cuban colonial literature. And what I'll be doing in my second project about traditional concepts of manhood and third gender identity. I'm pretty colonial Angola, and Brazil. Her work is inspiring!

Where are the other revolutionary black women?
Frances cress Welsing is gone, rip, but certainly there were other Sisters following in her ideology. WHERE ARE THEY?
These channels always feature the same males talking.
We will never be taken seriously in our liberation struggle until these so called revolutionary males give the Black Woman her proper place and respect as elder and TEACHER.

"Confront whatever needs to be confronted & let the chips fall where they may. Choosing a path of least resistance to bother ppl the least is not the actions of a sovereign ppl." -- Dr. Marimba Ani
And I find her words ten times more powerful with the children's voices and the men's voices and the people's comments. She's making some sense!

Outside of Kalonji and Diallo (depending on what subject) they more marxist than african. They only bring up Amos to critique him.

Mama Marimba was my mentor when I was at Hunter College. It was she that introduced us to Amos Wilson's work. Actually, they knew each other since their grad school days and were good friends.

Marimba Ani came out of SNCC and she retired from teaching years ago. And of course Alton Maddox knows her.

@@BlackLiberationMedia great. I know that uam opened the door for various speakers around the country for years, including clarke, cokely,Bob law, haki, khallid. Anyone and everyone. Often a collection was taken to fly the speakers home, such as sizemore and haki who lived in Chicago. Many of the folks who dug into their pockets often had b s jobs that did not supply a living wage. Like me. When I got my real gig I no longer had Wednesday evenings off. I'm older now. Retired. And doing okay. I'm concerned for alton. I don't believe his health has been great. He's no longer in NYC. He's been run out as garvey was. His wife passed in 2017. A great woman. We don't talk about alton. It's as though he was never here. The young people are almost totally unfamiliar with him. Yet his story would make a great autobiography worthy of mx. The perrys or harlem, the brawleys and countless other black families were represented by maddox pro bono. Maddox is not a sound bite today. He's alive. I sent him money in 2019,yet I don't have much. I've tried to locate tawana or her mom for years simply so I can send them some finance. Altons one tactical error may have been having sharpton as spokesman for the brawley family. Not good. He was the spokesman, not al. Anyway, through maddoxs speeches and writings it is abundantly clear that tawana was truthful in her statements of 1987 88. We've had a habit over the years of leaving our people to die alone. Alton is the guy who turned me on. I was in the courtroom when jonah Perry was acquitted. He was a regular brother, with no money. His folks lived in the projects. Real harlem. Black as a muhfuckuh. The harlem I remember. Please see book by Dr melva hill jackman,,,they called her a liar,,,justice denied in the tawana brawley case,,,why the investigative files must be released. Todd boroughs has already made cynical comments regarding her,but maddox has shown she was truthful and we must deal with that. They've made her pay her rapist. Malcolm x can't help her, though He would have believed her. Les payne has condemned her and got wasted at uam in 92. I saw it. He wanted to cry. This has been my concern, our tendency to forget

@brucekarriem2681 indeed Alton Maddox is a good Brother. I was part of an event some years ago with him, Tawanna Brawley, Dick Gregory and Cynthia McKinney.

    • @brucekarriem2681

@@RiotStarterTV cool, bro. I believe alton does have family. He may be in either Maryland or Georgia with them. His son is Charles maddox, grown brother. And it's possible his granddaugter may have gone into law. That would be nice. She's grown,so alton is among loved ones. It just hit me once,as I rode the q85 bus in queens, wearing my tawana told the truth button, when some wonderful hs freshman from Springfield hs saw my button and asked me who tawana was. I explained the basics of the case to them and soon discovered they were completely unfamiliar with who alton maddox is. This is partly our fault because we hammer every icon down their throat via spike Lee and never tell them about others. I think bro maddox is okay. The legendary Zaire Africa, aka marilyn grier from uam sent me a picture of tawana brawley with leola maddox taken in 2017. Tawana is 51yo today and is a mom. Glenda is alive today and that's good to know. Alton helped everyone. Today we ignore him. He was about to move into the central park case in 1990,representing antron mcray. At that moment the suspension went through. The sad fact is that tarif, wareham, kunstler, etc were not found on the ground for the central park trial of 90. It was seen to it that alton was removed. Colin Moore stepped up to defend the wise lion and nearly staged the coup of the century. However,it was a jury of your fears. They were scared. Wareham and company came for the appeal and have been celebrated. Sorry. Facts are facts. Perhaps one day a show can be done on maddox and tawana and where finances can be sent to assist them

@brucekarriem, Mama Marimba was my mentor when I was at Hunter College. FYI, she spoke at UAM more than once, and you know who led UAM, one Alton Maddox Jr. Her job was safe. What a crock!!! She was more fierce than many of those scholars that many revere and has remained consistent throughout, never compromised.

@14:00 she talks about Europeans forcing their world view on African Americans and calling it objectivity. And that Europeans world view is anti African. I'd like examples of this to clarify.
