It's funny because De Niro almost is some of the gangster characters he's played. He's not mean or anything like them, but he's guarded and private when he speaks, he doesn't like talking about himself.
When they introduce him as Robert De Niro, I half expect him to say "who's askin?".😄

It is NOT really good, it is f-ing AHHHHHHHHH-MAZING. That shootout after the bank robbery is the cream of the crop. The dialouge is so eloquent, yet gutteral in the same time frame. I have lived all over this country, spent 4 years in the Marine Corps, 14 of 18 childhood years were spent as an Air Force brat, 10 of those living oversea's in the 70's and 80's with our only "family" being the men and women we were living there with. With the exception of the character of Waingro I have known someone in my life that I could slot into every character in this film. I wish they would go back and re-release it in the theatres again, even if they use the 1995 quality film...

you have to pull every word out of his mouth when interviewing De Niro, but even though it sometimes looks awkward, it is certainly interesting. You know he won't be "acting" the interview like others, he'll say only the things he means, and this is more honest in my opinion. Just sad he didn't go into another of his famous rants about Donnie Dump, I think Donnie's still dreaming about them every night.

I’ve always wondered if DeNiro has a touch of Asperger’s. He has a savant-like genius when it comes to his work and in real life, he’s always been socially awkward. He was the first actor of his generation to remain a mystery to the press. He didn’t do the whole Hollywood celerity lifestyle thing. Always serious. Always focused. Left us all wondering what makes this man tick. I originally guessed he was doing the whole Brando thing, remaining mysterious and elusive to the public. I thought it was likely calculated. Now I think that wasn’t it at all, he just genuinely wasn’t comfortable doing interviews or press because he’s genuinely shy. One things for certain: He’s the real deal. No faking. No phoniness. As he got older, he became more confident in speaking his conscience about political issues. He didn’t care what people thought. He didn’t put on a mask to be loved & accepted by everyone. He spoke his truth. -And it came from real, genuine passion. You can’t help but love the guy all the way around. He’s truly a national treasure. I can’t imagine an Earth without Robert DeNiro on it. I hope he lives as long as humanly possible.

aspergers isn’t a term anymore, it’s just called autism now. but i wouldn’t be surprised if robert is autistic because his son has it, and autism is usually passed down through genetics. it’s bad to assume tho lol maybe robert just happens to be socially awkward

Imagine being Robert D in this world. Seems so wonderfully unassuming, yet loved by millions. There is never any locked door for him, not even a closed door. Or the door is held open for him-coming and going. There will be no restaurant/bar bill for him in the entire world. He enters your place, and your place is famous. He can absolutely go anywhere. That’s real star power. Say what you will, but I can’t think of anyone else, present or past, with that same star quality, except perhaps Joe Dimaggio. Thank you, Stephen and Staff.

I love Robert DeNiro as an actor. I was working security on the set of "The King Of Comedy", and the first scene I watched was DeNiro coming into Jerry Langford's office and saying to the receptionist,"I'm Rupert Pupkin and I'm here to see Mr. Langford". With Scorcese directing it took 28 TAKES!!!!!!!!!!

De Niro strikes me as a remarkably normal guy. Timid, but normal. He doesn't have like the plastered-on, transparent "relatable" persona lots of actors try to go for to score points with their fans. He's a big deal and doesn't undercut his achievements, but still retains a natural humility about him. I have a lot of respect for him. He's a true thespian.
