Is it just me or does it seem confusing? Hoping that its something that clicks for me in practice rather than hearing it explained.
It looks like it's something you'll have to do yourself instead of watching someone else.
It won't be that confusing, it tells you exactly what button to push.
The biggest issue for me is the positionals. trying to remember what is used where is awkward with how rapid everything is
*EDIT*
Okay guys I get it, I now have it baked into my brain you don't need to tell me anymore.
@@BlaizeTheDragon Just remember if your second combo hit is one or the other, it will always be flank or behind. Hindsfangg and Hindsbite are behind, and the green ones are flank. Ive been playing it, it's pretty bubblegum brain to play. I returned to Ninja but I mean Vipers fun iguess
I got you guys with the simplest guide; follow these steps, and you'll be perfectly prepared for starting Viper. This works for both AOE and single-target rotations.
Step 1: Start with Dread skills for 10% DMG Debuff.
Step 2: Alternate between Dread to upkeep debuff and steel skills for most damage. *Follow Dotted Lines* (Red skills are rear and green skills are flank).
Step 3: Finish with Serpent's Tail.
Step 4: Pop Dreadwinder (single-target) or Pit of Dread (AOE).
Step 5: Go into your Hunter's and Swiftskin's skills rotations (Hunter's is Flank and Swiftskin's is Rear).
Step 6: Reawaken do rotation and save Ouroboros for last as it ends your Awakening.
Step 7: Rinse and Repeat until target is dead.
Woops with the video and Jill with the guide? Couldn’t name a better duo than these 2!
Thank you, Sensei Jill
YESYESYES
Every little thing I see of Viper just makes me want it more and more
Speed, dual swords, a skill called "ouroboros," I just
Give it to me
The buff combos light up on the hot bar depending on what buff timer is lower, might be the first class to do this. So you don't really even need the sword gauge thing.
i'd rather have a gauge off-center of my screen to look at over a hotbar at the bottom though
@@xkmto yea, hut I figured for learning the job that's gonna make things significantly easier. Once muscle memory comes in the gauge will be more helpful.
The sword thing might be better for actual fight than looking at the hot bar all the time
@@Roonike yea for learning the job the hot bars will be easier though
Aaaah it sounds so fun! I can't wait to try it! Thanks for the clear guide! 😁
Here I was planning to go sign up for a Viper Degree course and study for the exam. God bless your guide!
Jill content POG
I just want to say thank you for referring to them as the dual wield, and then the twinblade.
This really helped be grok the combos! The fact that a lot of the nonclamenture also aligns is a godsend.
thank you jillion, very awesome :3
Hands down the best of all the viper videos i actually get it now thank you
Just starting out, I actually found the Viper quite easy to figure out. I'm sure I'll need to adjust as I level and gain more skills, but the general idea I caught on to pretty quickly. I absolutely love how busy this job is.
I never thought I'd find something entertaining enough to replace my Bard as my primary, but then Viper came out, and I'm in love.
Bless y'all! Thank you, Jill!
Another good guide, thank you! Gonna have to play it to make sense of it, cuz its a lot at first flance, but thats part of the fun.
The Red and Blue glow is a visual of the next move being a flank or rear positional (just in case people didn’t know)
JILL is back!!
THANKS JILL!
Thank for the guide, holy shit this job is BUSY. Definitely gonna have to practice on a training dummy with it for a bit cause it was still a bit confusing. Also no damage falloff and all those damage increase buffs this sounds like samurai/dragoon on crack.
It's going to take me like 2 hours to set up my hotbars correctly, Tural is crying
It'll be far easier when you get your hands on it, it just sounds busy in theory before you've built muscle memory and got a feel for it directing you.
i'm a little worried viper will have the Reaper problem where it's made to be fun and engaging at 90 to 100, but lacks interesting interactions below then. Like how reaper basically didn't have positionals until 70(?) and was just "press what lights up and hit an ogcd once every four hits or so" until 80, Same with gunbreaker sub 70.
at least picto gets a lot of interactive parts by 60 by the looks of it.
Reawakening is the lvl 90 skill, so yep. You're right. Ouroboros and the oGCD legacies are lvl 100. Up til lvl 90 VPR won't do much other than the filler combo and use Hunter's every 40 seconds.
After playing it: it's awful to play at anything below 70. Even at level 50 you only have 2 major mainstay attacks and while yes, they changed based on combos, you're still only pressing the same two buttons. I really on't know why half the kit is delayed as it is. It's definitely made as a class to be played at intended level or above which is a shame because you still have to level it to enjoy it at Dawntrails content which means low level roulettes
When I saw the reveal of viper I didn't like it at first but now I am SOOOO damn hyped to try it out!
Let’s go JillTime!!!
HELL YEAH ITS JILL TIME
With what I am seeing, I am liking Viper more and more, considering I just like playing melee. I just hope that when I do dungeons at lower levels, like the Praetorium, my kit won't be severely lacking in things to do, like how Reaper is a very boring class to play at lower levels. With what I am seeing with, that might not be the issues, but I will need to wait until the 28th for early access to see what I would be working with.
For the Dreadwinder/Pit of Dread Combos, you mentioned to use Hunter's Coil/Swiftskin's Coil back to back. Ive also been double weaving Twinfang/Twinblood between each of them and after the second one. (This is pre-90) Is this correct? Ive been over that part of the video a few times and that didnt seem clear.
JILL LETS GOOOO !!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍💖
Did you manage to get footage of the Bstance and Vpose?
Flanksbane Fang is such a wonderful name it takes so much concentration to say it correctly
Might have been worth showing in the visual guide what buttons turn into the 'generation' buttons during burst, thats going to have a major impact on how i set up my poor controller crossbars. Guess ill spend a bit more time in early access staring at tooltips as i do a 2 WT turn in for a free level
In order, the four generations replace:
Steel Fang/Steel Maw (Dual Blade's left)
Dread Fang/Dread Maw (Dual Blade's right)
Hunter's Coil/Hunter's Den (2nd stage of the Rattling Coil/red diamond spender)
Swiftskin's Coil/Swiftskin's Den (3rd stage of the Rattling Coil/red diamond spender)
All Legacy weaves replace Serpent's Tail, the button you use to weave at the end of each maintenance combo.
@@fluffrier appreciated. Didn't help my phone is older and videos tend to blur a lot for small text.
I’m trying to setup my cross hot bar just got the job and I’m reading tool tips like 🤯
Can't wait for this class. It feels like the true successor to the Rogue that I always wanted, Ninja's aesthetics never appealed to me.
yesss or like a classic Ranger (i.e. Everquest), which dual wields swords.
@@killval849 D&D Ranger with two-weapon fighting honestly seems like the inspiration for Viper
@@hydromancer4916 Yeah and im a huge fan of it. We needed that archetype because bard and ninja are different.
This class is soo fun
I tried Picto and was positively surprised about the intuitive yet easy rotation. But Viper? Holy cow. I mean I like DRG and GNB bc those jobs are quicker and more flexible but Viper jumps right outta the window with a double flip. I still have to make sense of all of the comboa to build a fluid and easy to remember rotation on controller. This job is SO confusing! Looks like I have some studying to do again 😐
I'm gonna become Kirito with this.
TH-cam muss want me to REALLY watch this video. Recommended to be 23 seconds after posted
How do you switch between modes: Dual blades and Twin-blade ?
you don't manually switch between them, the three step filler combo uses the dual blades and the dreadwinder and pit of dread combos use the twinblade
@@sqoops8613 yeah sadly
I've noticed on other video that you switch with certrain GCD (with long cd) with charges.
I got half of that 😢
Shout out to everyone who now know how to play Viper before even being able to play it
JillPOG
which version of Maker's Ruin is that???????
HAPPY HUNTING, JILL!
This is gonna require a lot of work to function with Cross Hotbars, god damn XD
Looks super cool though.
So it's similar to ShB Monk
*raises hand* is mayonnaise a weapon?
Why do I need to go through you to get to Jill?
I DIDN'T EVEN SEE THAT THERE IS ANOTHER NEW JOB TILL TODAY WTF THIS IS SICK
Im legit scared I might get motion sickness playing this job haha
The more I learn about Viper the less I think I know about it.
The animations for the new jobs are incredible! At some point, they'll need to consider reworking the skill animations for the old jobs because, honestly, some of them, like the Ninja, are starting to look very outdated in comparison.
with the hot bar set up if you have a ss of yours i think it would be eaiser ti follow
I uh... I'm sure this guide is very helpful and all but I feel like most of this is gonna just go in one ear and out the other until I finally get my hands on the job myself, lmao. That's just a me problem though.
If there’s such a thing as too flashy, Viper would be it.
first real human being, like if u agree
I feel like for viper instead of swords they could have gave the class dual sickles which r curved blades like curved viper fangs cause the dual swords isn't original but I do wanna try this class out im more excited for pictomancer
IMMEDIATE main
I've wanted a true melee dual-wielding job since Heavensward, and it's FINALLY HERE! I am so fucking excited! Thank you for this amazing video!
Feel like i keep missing it but do you mention why theres any need to transfer between dual blade and twin blade modes? From this video im not seeing why youd ever use twinblade mode.
twinblade mode is activated by an ogcd (dreadwinder or pit of dread) on a 40s timer with 2 stacks and the unlocked abilities deal more damage than your 1, 2, 3 combo
I think this plays very much like Reaper. Think of dreadwinder (ignoring aoe portion for now, which is pit of dread) as a combination of shadow of death and soul slice. This GCD has a cooldown and gives you enemy debuff, which you want to keep at all time, and resource, which in this case is "condition" to execute combos that has higher potency while also keeping your speed and damage buff active. Doing enough of both combo earns you serpent offerings (like soul gauge for Reaper), dual blade gives more while twin blade gives less, and you can reawaken for burst damage. I would assume you open with twinblade combo, put up buffs, pop serpent's ire and reawaken for your opener. Then just do your dual blade combo over and over until you have enough to reawaken again.
Huh.....whut...my DRK brain is sizzling likr bacon in a crying pan
I think I hate this job. I was so excited to have something I could share gear with my main job, NIN, but...this job is a spammy nonsense mess. I feel like I'm playing DNC or BRD and just pressing all of the things that light up. The weaving between one buff and the other using the same buttons is so foreign to me that it's like learning something so drastically different.
I feel like I'm PVPing or playing Gunbreaker with the way the skills cycle through on one button. Utterly annihilates my muscle memory as a DPS.
Rip to Ninja.
Ignorant people will say whatever.
The IPM of viper is actually a little turnoff for me because I have old finger and not the best ping so I wouldn't main this job or my hands would develop arthritis.
Also ninja got a lot of buffs and quality of life improvements, it's definitely going to stay very competitive in the raiding crowd.
Also ninja has infinite dashes.
And is a f***ING NINJA.
@@dazzlemasseur I Still love Ninja don't get me wrong, I more so mean it by I could see why people would or might shift from Ninja. Ninja was my first Main DPS Class, now I've kinda Shifted into Samurai a bit.
yeh i must be dumb cuz I'm MEGA confused, no fault to you tho. Just doesn't seem like a job for me sadly.
pictomancer is the same garbage, 3 different canvasses with multiple options to choose from and shitty damage spells that change when you cast them... not for me either.
cancelled my sub instantly after unlocking both new classes and quit the game.
@@lawlestestto each their own, I wouldn't call it garbage just something different. I actually been enjoying leveling picto alot. I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the classes tho.

Well.
I found my newest dance partner, it seems.

Honestly, this class is confusing as hell. I'm just hitting the next button that lights up.
u pretty much play it the optimal way in that case. rushed through with vpr hoping for something. but it really is the dancer of melees. start ur debuff/buffs in the correct order and you cant ever possibly fail the rotation.
I can't be bothered.
i fucking HATE getting dropped onto a level 80 class with 3 full bars of skills!!!
let me start from 1 and learn it on the go, who the fuck wants to read skills for an hour to figure out how to chain shit.
Now I have to make my character reference of Kirito. 😂😂😂
I barely listened to anything you said. I just think it looks cool and is fast so I’m in 🙈
can i get banned
Why do guides like these never take into account that these classes start at level 80 and no one knows how to play it. Doing guides for level 100 is pointless when people need to get there first. Guess I’ll just spam buttons in dungeons.
viper and picto shouldn;'t start at 80 .. major turnoff for me i hate getting dropped into a level 80 with 3 full bars of skills.
cancelled sub and quit.
@lawlestest I agree but cancelling and quitting now is stupid when this is the norm for new jobs.
The first like 2 minutes of the guide is literally everything you need to know to play viper at lvl 80 😭
@NilanOfTheMoon No it's not because guess what happens, you level up. Then how do you incorporate new skills into rotations? A good guide would show the progression and the job levels up so we aren't screwing up and playing ineffective.
Please let skillspeed viper be viable 😂
Positionals need to go away.
Watch this job get a rework next expansion lol. No identity and even stole the core (de)buff mechanic from Reaper
This really isn't a good video to understand the class with.
I thought it's a great starting point to jump in and level. Not even 5minutes and it told me everything I wanted to know to not be a burden on others while leveling.
