- [7.0] Time for Picto! Its seriously my new favorite Caster to play. It does stupid damage, has a really fun kit, and is just satisfying to play. Highly suggest trying it out.

Something I forgot to mention, these spells/abilities use up Hyperphansatia stacks as well.

Another little fun fact I discovered by mistake: Swiftcast works for Motifs while in battle. It's great if you need some Hammer Time as quickly as possible.
Yeah since you have such a long cast/recast time you can triple weave inside. I like to use it to wing muse/Funny Moogle Death Cannon/hammer time
I feel like optimizing the class will be learning when to swiftcast for Motifs
@@dbzteen31885 One good optimisation is that if you're going to be moving for more than 2 seconds, you'll want to swiftcast a motif. If you're in a state where you need to paint anyway and you're forced to move, this is a gain. For picto it's far more important to get casts off, than worrying about optimal damage output as if you can't paint and get your burst windows set up correctly, you'll fail art class.
You get long gcd after swiftcasting motifs
@kubekzpiciem it's the same recast timer as if you had hardcasted the motif. So for anyone wondering, you do not "save" time with swiftcast. This is why you should try not to cast any motif during the burst window, to maximize damage.

Use Fire In Red's combo till you get the stacks for Subtractive Pallate.
Use the spells Subtractive gives you.
Always use your Motifs so you can immediately use Muses off cooldown.
Anything that i miss, use the moment you can.

It’s here, ive been waiting for this to drop. I know its not a complete guide on rotations and stuff, but I definitely use it to have an idea of the basics of how to start to set up my rotation in which i figure it out from there

thank you for this guide. so many other picto guides don't even say the skill names or even show the picture of the skill being casted it was all just "do this do this and this into that"

As a long time FFXIV player This is the first caster to surpass Red Mage in terms of fun for me. It truly is an excellent job to play.
As an art student in college, this was the kick that got me to play FFXIV after having it recommended to me by friends. This game is amazing and I'm so happy I found it
Thus they set forth on a long and grueling path.
If you play 8 hours a day it will take you about 2 months to catch up to the point of unlocking it. FFXIV I think is worth it, but still something to keep in mind lol...
@@Dark3nedDragon Yeah for sure, I started in January and didn't finish post EW until like..2-3 weeks before DT's launch. It's possible if you pretty much mainline all the story but I haven't done much besides that

thanks a lot for this, the skill descriptions can be a little daunting especially when jobs start at higher levels so a nice and simple explanation like this is very welcome.
considering by the devs' own admission jobs with utility will need to do less dmg i am almost certain we're either getting other caster buffs or picto's damage will be lower when actual endgame comes around. Still looks like a fun job with plenty of variations and options, I'm gonna enjoy it a lot!
I can’t thank you enough for this and your other job guides. I don’t generally consider myself an idiot but, when it comes to new jobs and the first few days trying them out, it’s my brain can’t interpret the tool tips. So I follow the glowing buttons. But eventually it is cool to actually know how to make the most out of a job. So thank you. 👍

Thanks so much for this! I adore the pictomancer class but figuring out how rainbow drip was “activated” was beyond me. I thought it had something to do with the black/white paint

I would be interested in an in depth rotation guide. I have been playing ff14 for about 2 years but have never dived deep into "getting good". I love pictomancer so much though that I would love to actually play "properly" and then see where I can go from there! :D thanks for all your videos.

I'm confused as to how to weave the canvases and normal spells, and do we leave our canvases blank if in the middle of battle (with no downtime)?
If no downtime or look away mechs in the fight, then either swiftcast or start casting when your Muse has 3-5 seconds left before it it's fully charged. Then you can combo chain your Motifs, muses and finishers.
@@kennethpeterson7524 Yeah they have pretty long cooldowns so it makes no sense to paint them and not being able to use them anyway.
Since Motifs are long cast, when do you recast them after usage?
You can do it whenever, just make sure not to cap the charges for creature/weapon
Swiftcast works for Motifs during fights, in case you need to quickly get a Motif up to immediately use.
The best times are when the boss is un-targetable (duh) or second best is when you have to turn away. Otherwise I try to cast it whenever and keep a white paint or two just in case for movement
Edit: forgot to say don't recast during the starry night buff, that 3 second cast time is a massive damage loss during the damage window
Based on my recent experience of a tank suddenly deciding to move the mobs after I'd already put down my starry circle, it seems you have to inside the circle when it ends to get the instacast rainbow drip.

Aside from blue mage, to my knowledge, picto is the first class to have an offensive water spell
Actually, White Mage had fluid aura, which did damage. So Picto is the 3rd class with an offensive water spell

Just at a glance, this definitely feels like a job that snowballs super hard. Which makes sense, since you're literally painting your rotation. It almost feels like a slower Red Mage with the potential damage of Black Mage.
picto does the top of dmg of all jobs, blm doesnt even do more dmg that the lowest melee (ninja) so yea

I kinda wanted final title to be like "Relm Reborn" or "Peaktomancer". Picto perfect is kinda boring. What a missed opportunity. Also would be nice if we could draw-write something, like bards or dancers with their stuff. Anyway fun class with toon force powers:D !

While im not super huge on the painting thing(mainly due to all the different colours not fitting my 'edgelord' glams lmao) the job plays great.

this may be the most overtuned class ever added to FFXIV and that’s saying a lot.
I don't think picto has a rotation to begin with the entire kit is situational outside of your basic combo everything else is based on what situation your in
Pictomancer actually requires thinking and strategy it's very easy to pick up and hard too master and sins every encounter is different I don't think picto has a set rotation
ofc it has a rotation you need to fit into your burst window and make sure you have your motifs rdy for your next burst

@@MeldinX2 caat a apell that does nothing and paint an i.age that takes the whole wcreen. Thats just to prep for a spell. The cast it. Then paint again. Then cast it again. Then get access to big spell.

@@celuiquipeut6527 It's super simple when you play it. You prep all paintings before the encounter. And the spells have cooldowns so you don't paint them all the time. You wait until the right moment. For burst windows like most classes. And then you just cast filler.
