Hi Doug, please see "Freebee"....this is what they are planning for each city = taking everyones cars away. worth your time. Hope you & Stacy are doing well. take care. Chicken living the dream to travel. Thank goodness the Chicken is save now. What a tale the chicken will be telling back on the homestead LOL
It's nice to know you guys are there to provide quality service (aka chikkin-catchin lol), but also quality merchandise sans the DEI plague. God bless your business, keep up the good work!
LOL! I had a pet chicken named after me as a result of a science experiment in high school. When I went to college, My parents had to go 3 miles in to town to call me at the Central office because they were rural and had no phone. My chicken would get in the back of their truck to go with them when they called me. True story!
My nephew drove his truck to his high school. A little bit later, he heard there was a chicken was running loose in the parking lot. When he went out to check her realized it was his chicken. She had rode in the back of his truck to school with him.
❤❤❤❤. I remember a stow away red chicken that came to our house after hitching a ride on our Dads large trailer loaded up with a lot of scrap metal 😂😂😂. The chicken was taken back home afterwards.
I had a hen ride in the back of my truck for an hour driving to work. I noticed guys pointing and laughing behind my truck when I got to work. So I got out to see what was do funny and there she was. She made it home and we Still have her and she still lays eggs under my tool box.
Funny enough, that happened to me earlier this year. I drive a Ford Explorer and it takes about 45 min to the next biggest town. I went into Office Depot and was waiting for my order. Was told it would be at least an hour before I could pick it up, so I started out to my vehicle to decide what to do with that hour. I saw people outside my vehicle and another person sitting inside theirs. I'm sizing up the situation, was it something I needed to avoid but then I was asked if the vehicle was mine because a chicken was hanging around it. Wow... I couldn't believe she rode all that way and didn't fall off of whatever she was hanging onto underneath. She got to ride home in the back area. She was so well behaved. Once I got home, I opened up the hatch, and she non-chalantly jumped down and walked off as if she was the most satisfied hen in the world. I'm used to kittens hitching a ride, but this was a new one for me.
My son drove into town last weekend, got a few hundred yards up the road and kitten fell out from under his car. He said he saw it in his rear view mirror, rolling down the road, as it got up and ran back home. When he got back it was running around with the others. Tough kitty!
About 32 years ago I was working at a construction site in RTP N.C. at Biogen an one of the contractors that lived about an hour and a half away came to the site and it was about 7 or 8 in the morning and I went outside to get something from my van and heard a rooster crowing it was that guy that drove an hour and a half's rooster and had road in an open storage box on the side of his truck. The funniest part is when he got ready to leave at the end of the day the rooster was back in the box ready to go!
🤣🤣 that’s funny Doug, that gives new meaning to ( why did the chicken cross the road) haha. I bet she was singing you are the wind beneath my wings lol
Had that happen to me once. Left a brother's house in Ava, MO. Stopped in Conway, AR. to get a room. I looked outside towards the truck while we were checking in and saw chicken legs under the truck. It had gotten on top of the spare tire that was mounted under the bed. We were heading back to Texas from there so we gave the chicken to a cleaning lady and her daughter that was working at the motel.
LOL... Thanks, Doug. It's nice to hear a fun/intersesting story like this from time to time. The world stuff is good to know, but this kind of stuff is good for the soul. Take care, man!.
Doug, my friend went to her doctor and when she came out, a lady was looking under her truck. She asked what was wrong and she said she kept hearing a cat meow.....Well, sure nuff, they got down and finally got the little kitten who had just made a 50 mile trip under her truck. It was one of the neighbor's kittens that had wondered away.
Same thing happened to me only it road on my semi 140 miles, when I hopped out she came up to me. I picked her up and she rode in my Pete with me the rest of the day.
It's just Our Father smiling and having fun with you. Glad you got her home and she wasn't hurt. That had to be an epic unforgettable moment my brother. God Bless from NJ
We ended up accidentally picked up a stray kitten like that . She climbed under our vehicle and road home with us that way .Amazing she arrived unhurt . I named her Mystic because it's a mystery how she survived.
Hi, years ago as I was driving to work( trailer, mower etc) I too was a landscaper. I didn't get too far when I saw a chicken in the middle of busy intersection. No one cared but I being the animal lover and I already had chickens attempted to catch her. The reason she was in the road was because her wing was in the road! She must have jumped off a truck, she wouldn't leave her wing! Some traffic stopped for me as I risked my life to get her and her wing. Then she laid an egg, picked that up, then I chased her thru poison ivy, in someone's yard and finally grabbed her her from behind under a tree! It took hours! I never went to work, named her Mae,cuz it was May had her for years!! She was awesome and so friendly and an awesome layer. Rhode Island red, a small one but I loved her😂. Ty for listening. Loved your story.
Ya know thanks for sharing that chicken tale. My chickens are curious and always looking for locations to hide whenever frightened. Always scouting for places of refuge.
What a great story ! So glad Miss Henny Penny is okay…Man. I once, long ago, bought an old beater car in NC, and I drove it down the highway home quite a long ways. When I got home I heard meowing coming from outside the car. I opened the engine compartment and found a tiny orange double pawed kitten covered with oil and grease. He was okay, amazingly like your chicken. That’s cool, and I had forgotten about that kitten until your story reminded me. Awesome ! Thanks for sharing that !
One of my hens got in the back of my truck. I have tonneau cover so when I put up the tail gate, I didn't see the hen. I drive 40 miles to another town to pick some crates. When I opened the tailgate she walked out. Couldn't catch her. But there was another chicken keeper nearby so I hope she hooked up with that flock. Chickens do some crazy stuff.
❤ Come on Doug That chicken is Blessed We Love you praying 🙏 made my day 💕 its been really hot in New Hampshire Doug we got rain 🌧 coming this afternoon they said the humidity has been worse than Florida's never had a summer like this in 62 years my friend God is Good ty again for this video was feeling really sad today 👆💖🙏
Our barred rock road under my husband's pickup and jumped out when he got to work. It took five guys to catch her. She also came home in his tool box. Silly chicken.
We've also had that happen. But, only went 2-3 miles from home. I spent almost 2 weeks trying to catch her.(My only brood hen). Finally had her getting ready to go in cage where I was feeding & baiting her in. And, a car came along about 60 & ran her down on purpose with me standing right there. So glad you had nice people to help.
So your driving down a highway with clearly nothing on the flatbed trailer, however there was likely feathers coming from behind it. Surprising many. Crazy stuff. Animals are incredible, resilient, and some have a great story to tell. Like that hen.
I was in tractor supply earlier this month and they had a grown rooster in the chic pen. Crowing his heart out. I was curious why they had a rooster,so i asked. Turns out a couple had pulled a trailer about 6 hours to the coast. Their rooster hitched a ride. A 6 hours ride!!! On an open trailer. The folks from tractor supply agreed to house said rooster until the couple returned to virginia. 6 hours!!!
We have that same breed of chicken and they are always the most inquisitive and the first to try to sneak out the gates etc... also the most friendly...❤️🐓
Is that a Dominic or Barred rock? Both hens are known to be nosy and inquisitive. They are always the first to hop up on the bench to see what i got or what I am doing.
LOL 😂❤❤❤ That is so funny. Thank you for sharing with us. Glad you both made it back safely. Thanks to those guys & gals, at store, helping you out too! I have lizards on my truck sometimes, when driving down the road, and try to catch them when I stop, but they usually won’t let me catch them. I just tell them to hang on and pray they make it back safely
I heard your story yesterday and smiled a few times yesterday because of your story! Still enjoying hearing it again, Love your stories and it helps us to enjoy those little moments. Love you guys ❤
My husband had hauled off some of my chickens too. 😂 funny but not funny because some of them jumped out of his truck and took off. He carried one to church one morning and everyone in that area was posting that they had a chicken in their yard.
That was so cute a story. I needed a giggle. Silly Hens. I always try to distract my 3 Hens when I leave for errands! Your's really went for it. So happy she made it ok.❤
Glad your poor little girl is okay. As a kid we always had to look under the vehicles in winter to make sure none of the cats were up under the hood. The engine block was warm apparently. One did lose part of it's tail tho.
Great chicken story, and evidently You know a great mowing machine also! Bought a Ferris ISX 2200 a few years ago and couldn’t be happier with the choice. Great machines. 👍👍🇺🇸
If you heard that, it was me belly laughing at the hen antics.... hilarious! Love the way she back-chatted you as she walked away.... telling you off i think! Thanks Dpug, i needed this xx
Oh my, Doug, what a fun story. That chicken had lots to say to all her friends when she got back to the homestead. LOL Thanks for sharing. I needed a good laugh and am sharing this. Ya'll be safe.
Years ago I was living in Texas. The folks we rented from had guineas. One of them was on the tool box in the back of my truck. It wouldn't get off so I drove in to town and back with it hanging out the entire time
Yep. Weather he has been unusually hot and dry. Finally got some rain in the last 3 weeks after 2 months of drought. Mid Atlantic area, NW of Baltimore. Go O's!!
That is so funny! But I'm glad all turned out okay. We had that happen two different times with two different cats, and got them home safe each time. So funny to envision my sweet Mom driving through our little town with the cat riding on the roof of our 1970s family van! 😂
Cooler and wetter here this summer. SW Wisconsin in the Driftless. Some places the trees are already changing. Some fall flowers are already blooming as well. Asters are being sold a couple weeks early already. Ive heard some apple varieties are ready early. My tomatoes are ripening the slowest they ever have in the 6 or years I started growing tomatoes in containers.
Have an early harvest. Tomatoes will continue to ripen if picked when there is some color on them and placed in a window to catch some rays. If they freeze on the vine the tomatoes are lost. I hope this helps.
I'm here in SE Wisconsin, and I noticed the trees already changing colors and losing leaves a few weeks ago. I wondered if maybe it had something to do with being by the lake, but since you are SW Wisconsin, I guess it isn't that. Buds came out on the trees early here as well, and then we had some really cold weather and several fell off. Did you experience that where you are too?
Same same, my chook rode at 110km per hour to the coal mine last year under my truck, she lost about half her beak, but recovered ok. Lovely Secretary nursed her back to health
I like how your hen started calling to her buddies. I love chickens. In north central Wisconsin, cool, 60s, light rain, not typical August weather. Normally we'd be clear skies, 90s, dry and everyone would be vacationing, boating, water skiing, partying. We're still getting our storm systems dropping out of Canada, another major anomaly. I bought a roof rake for snow removal.....just in case. Keep up the great work. I love you alls videos.
@@catelynoneil2190 I too am in the drift less short grass prairie, on the enormous, rolling sand dunes of ancient lake Wisconsin. It's an incredible ecology. I'm hoping to soon visit the prairie chicken habitat north and west of here.
😂😂😂😂I loved this story. That's a smart chicken to figure out that you use the truck for travel and where to hide out to take that trip. I believe you should keep her till she croaks. She's probably highly intelligent and learning from you all. She's got a good story to share with her yard buddies. 😂😂😂
Thanks Doug! This was great and I needed this fun story today!! Love y'all. ❤ Keep up the great work. Y'all help us soooo much! Definitely sharing. This little hen just wanted to be famous. She's a Rock Star. ✨️🐓
I think that God uses our animals to make us laugh, I know mine can usually get a laugh out of me one way or another. You never know what to expect out of them. And they are always smarter than we give them credit for, too.
Not quite the same heroics but my "chicken on the road" story goes like this. I was driving from Springfield, MO to my Mom's place in Phoenix. just outside of Joplin on interstate 44 i started to notice what seemed like snow starting to fall (it was in April so no chance of snow). As I approached this large semi with what must have been 1000 cages full of chickens. their feathers were flying all over the place. I passed it and thought that was interesting. The next morning somewhere in the middle of Oklahoma I experienced the same phenomenon on the highway and thought "no way !". It was the same truck w the same load of chickens. Finally on the 3rd day somewhere on the NM and AZ border i once again had the same thing, same truck.
We could learn from that crazy chicken to hide under the shadow of the Masters Wings . Especially when the weather gets rough. If we do that, the master will always bring us back home. The Shepherd and Maker always using nature and circumstances as archetypes analogies and allegories so that we are left without excuse. Just as the word says.
When I was raising chickens I found that I could take a wire clothes hanger and straighten it out and put a loop on one end and I could catch my chicken by the feet. Less chasing around and it didn't hurt the chickens.
Dogs do too. We had a small one ride somewhere under Daddy's truck to church one day. We lived in country. Couldn't believe he made it and lived. We didn't notice till after church and there he was. Love good news for change. And funny.😂😂😂❤❤❤
Sometimes, the craziest things happen to us , it's amazing that chicken is still alive. If it was a person under there, they would be freaking out. But not miss cool she held it together 😂. That's just what we need to make us laugh, so cute.
We had a kitten that pulled the same trick and rode to the AFB when my husband was in the military. Fortunately, he had gone back to get his briefcase he had left in the car and found our kitten running around. So funny! God bless you and the chickens!
Too funny❤😂🎉❤ Maybe, create an all age friendly picture book about your chicken and you going to the city. Lol, hope she is okay after her long journey!

So glad she’s back home and ok. Thnx for letting us remember to watch for this
Same same, my chook rode at 110km per hour to the coal mine last year under my truck, she lost about half her beak, but recovered ok.
Driftless region here. Some trees in the Coulee's and valley walls are starting to change already. Some smaller maples on the ridgetops are too.
@@catelynoneil2190 I too am in the drift less short grass prairie, on the enormous, rolling sand dunes of ancient lake Wisconsin. It's an incredible ecology. I'm hoping to soon visit the prairie chicken habitat north and west of here.
Omgoodness absolutely hysterical
Thx so much for sharing. Complete riot.
Now that's a free-range chicken 🐔
I laughed last night when you we r talking about it & I laughed just as much just now, hearing it again. Gotta luv it. 😂😅
Ive had cats that ride the bumber all the way to Dallas. One hour away. My neighbor drove one kitty back home i love that man.
Awe so sweet!! Thanks for the cute video Doug!!! Hello from Wentzville 👋🏻
I get my long handled fish net and chase them into a corner😂
That’s what my dad does.
We had a wire chicken hook to catch the chickens.
I totally agree with you about John Deere
She has a big story to tell her buddies. She will cackle for days😂❤
lol 😂thanks for the cute story!! Need these bright moments some times 💕
We had a kitten that pulled the same trick and rode to the AFB when my husband was in the military. Fortunately, he had gone back to get his briefcase he had left in the car and found our kitten running around. So funny! God bless you and the chickens!
That just made my day!! Lol.😂 I love you & Stacy ❤
Too funny❤😂🎉❤ Maybe, create an all age friendly picture book about your chicken and you going to the city. Lol, hope she is okay after her long journey!
