How to Finish a Wire Tuck Like a Boss | WideFox Build

  • If you've watched the last two video releases on completing an engine harness tuck, you know that I've slimmed down the engine harness by removing the salt & peppers shaker connectors and then fed everything I could back into the cabin area.
    This video shows how to start covering everything with Design Engineering (DEI) Split Loom to make it look great and hidden. The process starts by covering the small harnesses like injectors and individual wires, then going into the larger harness loom and into the main loom. Start at the end of the harness and work backward to the firewall grommet adjusting length as you go for each wire.
    On the inside, it will become a mess as I show. That's OK. Once you have a clean breaking point at the firewall, you can then determine what length each wire should be to reach the new ECM position under the passenger seat. From there, you cut, and lengthen each wire until you're done.
    All the material I used to complete the work is in my Amazon store for reference. DEI Split Loom (all 3 sizes), cutters, solder, soldering iron, etc.

    Youre absolutely correct when you talk about doing the wires. One by one, cutting and, soldiering, to get rid of the bunch & also about a time and patience.

      I don't think I could have done the whle job unless it was wire by wire. I had to do it all in small sections an few wires at a time as I had the time to work on it. It worked out though, which was fantastic.

    Hey how did you do the top part of the side panels that run from headlights to strut towers.
    It looks like one panel bent around.
    I have a mk4 gti vw & am looking for a way to do this with mine

      The metal, or wiring? The Fox Mustang engine bay is continuous metal (albeit multiple pieces welded together). Everything that I painted is original Ford metal.

      Justin Powell 's fox body channel Thank you. I had enough patience to get that section done. It took me a couple weeks, and I just worked at it a little every night. Tedious work and when I didn't feel like touching it I just did something else. Editing makes it look quick and painless.

    might be a good idea to make sure the car runs before you totally wrap all the wiring.

      I plan to. I am not covering the wiring any more than it is until it runs. Anything in the engine bay can be quickly uncovered as needed. I already made one mistake that had to be fixed, but I didn't show it.

      The whole car was a personal challenge to see what I could do. Could I wire the whole car and integrate multiple harnesses together? Could I complete the whole widebody setup with bodywork, suspension, and then vinyl wrap it? It's my experiment and challenge to continually build harder projects. Thanks for watching!
