Lost crow walks into shop!

  • Lost animals can find themselves in some strange places, but we rarely get called to a crow sat on the back of a tiger!
Simon rushed out to rescue the lost bird from a carpet shop in Leatherhead town centre. It was an easy catch but the bird was thin and weak and needed some food before release. It was taken back to out vet, Maru, and will be released very soon :)

how nice of those men in the shop not to start chasing and shouting at the bird to get it out but instead they let it be and called this great guy to do what he does best :)

Those English are so civilized, aren't they? In the USA, depending on the region; that poor bird might've even become target practice!

Shopowner was smart . . . . he left the crow alone AND he didn't wait long before calling in (don't know how far it was from Wildlife Aid to the town center, but 45 minutes is quick time).
Maybe the crows beak each other for territory, but I could definitely see Simon lecturing the crows about not bullying each other.

We had an adult Crow as a family pet for just over 10 years. It had been blinded (detached retinas) following a Collison with car or truck. I found it on the way home from work and it ended up deciding that it wanted to live with us as part of the family. We called him "Blackie" and our lives ended u revolving around the Crow. It would only eat cooked human food and was spoilt.
Blackie learnt English and attempted to teach us basic Crow calls, usually miming out things he wanted (which we didn't always understand). Crows are extremely intelligent.
Blackie was kill when a neighbour's Jack Russell broke into the back garden and attacked Blackie, who died at the vets from the injuries.

Hi, you guys inspired me to try save more animals. When I was on holiday I rescued a bird from a cat the bird, had a bite mark in its head from the cat, I didn't go to I vet because it was far away so I picked it and helped it get its strength back and then it just flew of and came back to say thank you and goodbye...

Crows get wounded by other crows whenever they were not taking their shift as sentry seriously, seen that several times. The sleepy or distracted bird gets punished by the rest of the group in mid air, quite spectacular. Except for that, the fights with magpies about territory and food too can be quite... impressive sometimes. A real Battle of England, although it isn't always clear which of the two are the Germans and which the British and their allies...
