Ironwood. Likely that piece of wood that wouldn't split was Ironwood that has just matured out of being a sapling. It is the saplings of Ironwood that can make a good hiking stick or staff. You should look up how to identify ironwood saplings because making a staff or hiking stick from one will last forever.

@@preparedmind101generally. I just don’t feel comfortable with a big blade hanging on a stick or hidden tang. That said classic Bowies have been around a long time so I guess not an issue. 😊
Most states that's illegal due to its size it's almost a short sword are considered a dirk. In Idaho open carrying knives is legal as long as it doesn't violate restricted knives list personally myself and be cool to collect but other than that it's just a wall hanger it be totally useless in the field it's too heavy too big and too bulky
That wasn't very nice. The main point was letting people know it was out so that they had a chance. It works exactly like the last one. The being said, I was disappointed to discover I either bumped the tripod or accidentally zoomed it. I had to cut more out. You'll see it again. But like I said ... It's a known commodity, not some new mystery knife I have to investigate.

I like it. I’m not a fan of Bowies mostly I don’t like the coffin handle and not full tang. A big blade needs a full tang.
