We do this for over 6 years. We notice that when we paint them the birds don’t get caught that much in comparison to other pigeon fanciers in the neighborhood and our town/region.
Brilliant idea fair play 😎These sky butchers are a menace here too in Wales 🏴 and all over UK 😔My own birds only fly out evening time and has helped cut down on my losses to my small team. It's too risky aswel when taking pigeons training, not to liberate a bunch! Only five at a time watch them clear and next five, using binoculars Regardless of experience always let the pigeons settle prior to tossing, for 10 /15 minutes, this should cut down on them circling around making it easier for the Peregrine to ambush, and I always observe the pigeons in the basket/pannier they'll spot danger in the sky before you do! Brilliant channel this, always look forward to the next one. I wish you all the best for 2023 ✊
Hawks and falcon’s are smart birds that adapt quickly I wonder how effective the red paint is 🤔🤔🤔. If it works ( at a high percentage) I’ll try it myself.
There was a TH-cam video I seen of a lady that lives I believe in Belgium or one of those other countries and she’s been flying birds for years. She has beautiful love and a lot of beautiful birds and she was having that problem how she solved it well didn’t attack them as much now, she bought the spray can in red that they use for Carlos and pigs and it’s very good for the birds no harm to them and what they do is they spray into a cup to have at least 3/4 of peeing in a cup with a thin brush they open up each wing from tip to the under arm body, the paint one lime red on the other side they do the same Aaron right before the hump on the tail on his back. They also paint a little red that then they let them fly so that it dries up, and supposedly the hawks and falcons don’t recognize them as the regular birds they used to attack they don’t pay no mind to them. I mean it sucks but eventually the paint will wear off but yes supposedly works.
Its definitely a nice experiment to try. But the same hawks that attack pigeons are the same hawks that also eat small red song birds like red cardinals. So I'm not sure how effective this gets. Unless, red is a color that is hard to see for birds of prey.
We have million types of hawks and falcons in California, Red tailed hawk and Prairie falcon would still attack the pigeons even if I put mirror on their neck. Yesterday I lost $600 pigeon half grizzl half blue check. Came back from 120mile toss training and the hawk attacked her on the landing board.
Great tip for us, Pigeon keepers. Hawks are a damn nuisance. I hate the bloody things, having lost several Rollers. I also do not like the RSPB, I think they are a load of 💩s.

Thank you. Here in Arizona I have same issue with falcon and hawk. I put mirrors in court yard. Seems also to help also
Also, how long have you been doing this? Has it been effective? Thanks!

Hello, how effective is this method? There are a lot of peregrine falcons on my territory?
It works for us. You can try it. Greetings, Jannie Brands

What type of hawk do you have in Netherlands
Thank you, Greetings from The Netherlands! We have here the northern sparrow hawk, if we are right in the name of this hawk. Greetings, Jannie.

I dont think it has any effective because hawks r very smart they will do anything when they r very hungry.
