Jesus. lol here are a few things
    1. This is a different universe, so her being in friends or pretty woman is not really..a thing
    2. Doomsday prepper who has been stocking up likely for years, you can see he’s very prepared in his scene.
    3. A ship of that size would absolutely take time to stop on land especially if it hadn’t slowed down at all.
    4. They did have pictures, it’s in a room. Idk why they didn’t show them. He probably thought that opening the cabinet would suffice but this was just used to highlight the distrust in the main plan.
    5. She mentioned that they were there off camera, that was implied when she said she was telling her about them. Ofc rose didn’t care, she wants to watch friends.
    6. They said that what was happening was impacting migratory patterns, likely behavior, and was a sign of nature “warning” people.
    7. As someone who’s lives in nyc and upstate nyc, New York is absolutely massive. It’s totally reasonable that the houses are spaced that far away upstate. Sometimes it’s even more isolated.
    8. He absolutely noticed the debris on the yard, probably why he took the gun with him.
    9. You can probably say that the force that blew out the windows was enough to damage the door.
    10. He probably didn’t take it with him because he pretty much knew what was going on, he just didn’t want to believe it.
    11. He probably was looking at an arm that fell separated from the body, cut off before they hit the ground from the explosion or shrapnel. It’s also not the same person. The guy on the right has both arms. You’re probably looking at the pilot/copilots arm.
    12. They have electricity, so “burning out their batteries” isn’t really a concern.
    13. They translated what the woman was saying: Thank God I found someone! I’m trying to get back to my home! I’m lost! I’ve been walking for a while! I need to use your phone! You’re the first person I’ve seen all day! We have to get out of here!
I just saw a plane that was spraying red gas in the vicinity. I saw some deer, more than 50. They were coming out of the woods. Please! I need to go home, sir. A military plane appeared and fled. There’s no one around! Is it a chemical attack?”
    14. If something like this happened in New York, the roads are likely congested and everyone is trapped.
I’m only 6min in but I’ll continue in the comments

      15. Danny explained what the sound was. And how it could affect their teeth. Just because you’re only seeing an isolated area, doesn’t mean it’s not happening everywhere else.
      16. This was a book first. There’s more info in the book than the movie.
Entertaining vid, but some of the concerns are easily explained.

Jesus. lol, finally a person more nitpicky than me. Thanks for your comments but in response: Yes, I know it was a book first, but like 98% of the viewers, I'm responding to the movie from POV of someone who hasn't read it and needs the writers to explain everything in the movie.
      1. Of course it's a different universe, just like John Wick is in a different universe from the Matrix and Keanu isn't playing the same character (like every other movie and TV show). But it's funny and stupid that they chose a sitcom where one of the main characters is an actor. Next thing you're going to remind me that Ethan Hawke is in a different universe from the Before Sunrise series (but they didn't explain why he isn't with Celine).
      2. I'm not a prepper/survivalist (I live in SF so I'd be totally fucked) but there are some common sense things that the director obviously didn't know. Yes, Danny has been preparing and stocking up on shit for years. So now he realizes the SHTF and this might be his last opportunity to stock up at the grocery and hardware store before societal collapse....and he's picking up cases of bottled water and novice emergency supply buckets? Not all of the stuff that will explode in value when cash is worthless and we go on a barter system like canned goods, booze, cigarettes, lighters, flashlights, batteries, tools, guns and ammo? gtfo here
      3. Curious if you have a physics degree. Do you know what substance is really good at slowing down objects? Hint: they're used inside sand bags that soldiers use to stop bullets. Even a giant oil tanker running into the beach would be stopped very quickly, certainly not like the 50 yards depicted in the movie.
      4. I also know they had pictures in the house, and like you, I don't know why they didn't show them (which was why I made the comment). Amanda was obviously still suspicious that they weren't the real owners and it would've been super easy to prove it beyond the shadow of a doubt). You didn't mention my comment about his daughter also not showing her ID.
      5. I know Amanda explained the strangers to Rose off camera but my point is: why didn't she immediately relay this critical information. The last mention was during breakfast, when she was just about to tell her, but suddenly Rose interrupts to watch TV and Amanda waits even longer to tell her (off camera, thank you)
      6. I realize that they said that whatever was happening was impacting migratory patterns, leading the animals to warn us. But as a viewer, I'm supposed to just swallow this explanation? My comment is: what possible earth event would cause deer to suddenly go against their genetic nature and lose their fear of humans so they can congregate together and warn humans. Can you explain any other time in human history, like before a flood, when a bunch of chimps got together and came out of the forest to stare and humans to warn us? No? That's why I called BS..
      7. Please let me know the name of these areas a few miles from some of the most expensive real estate in the world, where houses are spaced miles apart, because I want to invest in some of that cheap real estate and build a compound where no one can enter during the End of Times.
      8. Yes, he noticed the debris and took his gun, but if you re-watch it, he pulls up and then is fiddling with his phone like nothing's wrong then suddenly looks up and is like "holy shit! what the fuck happened here" as if he didn't notice it when he drove up.
      9. No I probably can't because a plane crashing in the backyard would definitely not unlock and blow open your front door.
      10. Assuming you're referring to him not taking the satellite phone: at that point he didn't know exactly what was going on but had his suspicions that it was societal collapse and he saw enough shit to be worried. The satellites could be offline temporarily-- why wouldn't he take such a potentially valuable resource with him just in case? That was my point.
      11. Even if he was probably looking at a severed arm (and not the pilot that we see him right next to, not next to any severed body parts), it's still funny and very stupid that there's a dead body right next to him and all this wreckage, but he's only shocked when he pulls on the watch and discovers that it's attached to (gasp) a dead person/severered arm.
      12. True-- at that point they did still have power. But it was increasingly clear that they were in an emergency situation so it's common sense to keep your devices charged and not to leave them on 24/7 when you're sleeping, can you agree with me on that one? Do you also usually leave your iPad on while you're sleeping?
13 & 14. Even with the translation, it still doesn't explain why she's the only person that we see driving or walking or anywhere during all of it. He would see at least a handful of cars trying to drive out of town or stocking up, a day after internet/comms went down and people were freaking out. We saw thousands of cars stranded near the bridge-- for the cars that made it past the bridge, what caused them all to all suddenly pile up and kill all of the occupants? Wouldn't all those people get out of their cars and walk around looking for food, shelter and water and start looting the fuck out of their little isolated town?
That's the first 6 minutes. I guess you didn't have much beef with minutes 7-15 if you only had two additional points.
      15. Just because Danny explained it , doesn't mean we as the audience are supposed to just swallow it. He specifically talked about Cuba and the Havana Syndrome, saying that people's teeth fell out. They didn't. And I commented on it. And then I made fun of the fact that he also somehow had a miracle cure for it (there's no cure). And I realize that the sound could be everywhere but my point was that if there was enough energy to shatter windows and lights, even out in the boondocks, they would need the equivalent of 10 nuclear power plants just to have enough energy to power a secret sonic weapon that must've somehow been secretly smuggled into the country but must've been as big as the moon.
      16. Yes, I know it was a book first that explained a lot more. As a viewer who didn't read the book, I expect the writer and director to provide us with all of the relevant info to explain it all in a way that makes sense. They didn't so I'm making fun of them, but thanks for your feedback anyway. If you or any one else who read the book has some more insight, we'd love to hear it!

What annoys me is TH-cam commentators calling Amanda racist for not automatically believing the father and daughter lived there. They provided no proof, so her skepticism was valid.
Also, you made me laugh when you asked why they didn’t pull onto the shoulder of the road when the Teslas were driving towards them? I thought the same thing. However, I don’t know if they’d be able to leave using just the shoulder. If there weren't any bridges to cross, then maybe.

A weekend in a place like that is about $5k-$10k depending on the location.

    • @thesaltycobra
      @thesaltycobra  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah that sounds pretty reasonable for a weekend rate, right outside NYC (certainly not the hot deal that they got in the movie, which I think was $2,000, since George refunded them $1,000, or 50%).

Actually tbh it was kind of entertaining. But since I'm Salty, I can''t help but notice all of the plot holes and inconsistencies and things that don't ring true to me, as I'm watching a movie. So even though I crapped on it for 15 minutes, it wasn't really that bad (I assumed the people watching this have already seen the movie), so it might be worth checking out to see if it's your cup of tea (even though I guess I spoiled the whole movie...whoops!)

The owner offered to compensate her 50% and gave her a 1k, so no, it’s not far fetched 😂 also, why does everything have to be realistic to make sense? The movie is ridiculous, and yet makes a great point abt people not being prepared for literally anything outside of their comfort zone. 🥂

    • @Diree
      @Diree หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Because the movie takes itself very seriously. At least, it felt that way. So, either you go full "doomsday" mode or you create sth like Zombieland, but you don't make a movie that is supposed to be serious, but then has all these very obvious holes in it.
