    Thanks for putting the video up. I really enjoyed it, it’s nice to see FN listening to their end-users, taking that feedback, and affecting changes in their design (actually, the evolution of the model has been time-compressed).

    This pistol has some neat design elements that are really subtle... like the “shaven” top lug of the chamber. I have some pistols that use that lug to lock up, and if it’s squared off, after significant shooting peening occurs, presumably from the slide being unlocked and slammed over the top repeatedly. Cupped mag releases, doubling also as a shelf. Then that M&P-esque split trigger dingus is not so curved and goes flat. I like it.

    Capitalism has perfected the 9mm handgun. Glock 19 certainly fathered all the polymer midsize 9mms out there, but it's not the best. I think the midsize 507 is the best evolution of the G19 since it does all the same things PLUS doesn't need sight upgrades, has a better trigger (or non-glock trigger for those who don't like those), and lots of features like shaped slide release and mag release controls. At this point, the difference from one to another comes down to the smallest details.

      @None of your Buisness Nothing wrong with .40 S&W either. It's easy to hate on it but objectively it is a great round.

    • @lilboydafriend
      @lilboydafriend 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      None of your Buisness yeah, because the FBI is always super honest

    • @Predalien195
      @Predalien195 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @None of your Buisness 9mm and .45 ACP do not penetrate the same, particularly through hard barriers. THAT has been proven by LEO's, civilians, and the FBI. Secondly, the FBI doesnt know what the hell it wants. First it said 9mm wasnt enough, went to 10mm... said 10mm was too much, went to .40 S&W, now it's back at "Oh 9mm is perfect". First of all, you arent the FBI... what your needs and their needs are differ quite significantly.
      Secondly.. When you look at real world performance, .40 S&W does the same stuff 9mm will do in terms of hard barrier performance, it certainly has better energy after passing through light cover. 9mm is known to dump over 40% of it's energy to pass through, and more importantly 9mm is ONLY comparable when comparing +P and +P+ ammo which totally defeats the point of it's "lighter recoil" if you do.
      Real tests show that .40 S&W packs more of a punch. Plenty of videos you can reference to this point if you'd like. .45 ACP definitely doesnt have the same hard barrier performance, hence why so many LEO's in the late 80's and early 90's were ditching .45's as a service caliber. Doesnt make it a bad round by any means.. just not as suitable for duty use as 9mm or .40 S&W. .40 S&W makes for an excellent duty caliber.. but for every day Joe's that may not be what they need.
      Using the whole FBI thing is really getting old... Mostly because there's so many problems with the FBI's logic on that matter.

    • @Mr.Saephan503
      @Mr.Saephan503 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      None of your Buisness - so have you been shot before and if so did you say "boy was I lucky they shot me with a .40S&W and not a 9mm or a .45acp" have you ever heard a person that been shot to say that? Last time I checked you as a person don't use your gun the exact way a FBI or any law enforcement person would. If you have a CCW license the person you disarming would most likely not have a vest on. The gun is as good as it operator, if you can hit a person with 5 round from a 9mm then it would be better to shoot 9mm then to switch to a .45 and hit the target once it even twice. It time to GROW UP and STOP arguing about which round is better people.

    • @Predalien195
      @Predalien195 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @None of your Buisness I carried a SIG P229R DAK as my service weapon... Shot several thousands of rounds a year in training and several thousand more in my own time on my own dime. You are just parroting information about the .40 S&W which is very old, mostly false, and seem to have no clue what you're on about. No, 9mm and .45 do NOT penetrate the same... Numerous tests have shown that time and time again. In bare gel maybe... but through typical barriers, they arent even close. Secondly, .40 S&W is operating about what .45 ACP +P is doing in terms of ballistics but you are trying to say .45 is somehow superior yet the laws of physics disagree with you. And if you're prepared to argue against the laws of physics you need help I cant give you.
      .40 S&W guns have a higher malfunction rate? Really... Well lets look at that shall we? When the .40 S&W was introduced most companies(namely Glock) simply just swapped barrels on 9mm guns and said "Presto!". .40 S&W is the EXACT same pressure as 9x19, it's just loaded typically to about 80% of maximum, so it's a lot more stressing. Kinda like a steady diet of +P 9x19 ammo which is HIGHER pressure than .40 S&W factory loads. But once people understood what the problem was... which was simply NOT just converting the barrel and actually built .40 S&W to be purpose built like the H&K USP, the SIG P229's, and pretty much every other gun out there other than Glock, that issue kinda went away. Even Glock got it right eventually with Gen 3's and it was mostly a non issue in Gen 2's. So do they fail faster? Yeah, because they will wear out parts quicker IF you leave it like a stock 9mm gun. In short... a Glock 23 with a standard 15lb spring will wear out faster than a dedicated .40 S&W gun with a 17lb to 20lb spring will. Of course, extractor springs and etc should be replaced or buffed.
      Seen plenty of gun channels shooting boards and other things. That's nice to watch... I've been through training courses where we explicitly tested our guns and ammo and none of that seemed to be a problem. You can go look at Paul Harrel's tests on .40 S&W vs 9x19. You can watch all the videos you want of people shooting boards but you're not understanding something. Bullet design plays a partial role, but secondly again from a duty perspective, the .40 S&W carries MORE energy to a target on the other side than a 9x19. That fact has been shown numerous times. Perhaps you need to research why we have IWBA protocol in the first place. It was the Miami shoot out that in the end the FBI said 9mm wasnt enough because of a Winchester Silver Tip round that shot through a car door, through a man's arm, traveled up into the chest and stopped 1 inch shy of the heart. It did EVERYTHING it possibly could have done and was deemed not enough. Thus we got 10mm, well 10mm recoil was too much, so we got .40 S&W and guess what... it met IWBA protocol. It still does. In short, it's no less effective according to people who do this for a living. But the FBI has over 50% more female agents from the time they adopted the .40 S&W to today. It's a training issue... women and men who couldnt handle recoil didnt shoot and qualify well. They switched to a lighter recoiling load and shock shock surprise... they shot better. But they people who shot good with .40 S&W were still shooting good regardless. Why? Training... It's a training issue. By the FBI's logic they should go to .22 LR's and they'd be the most accomplished marksmen of all time.
      Glock markets their 10mm because 10mm is having a resurgence right now or maybe you havent been paying attention? More companies making guns and ammo in the caliber. Hardly anybody markets .40 S&W and yeah you'll see a lot of them used or waiting on shelves because the market moved towards 9mm for a few reasons. One, you got idiots who gotta have whatever the military or LEO's are using(like you), and then there's a mass increase in gun ownership and training and 9mm is simply cheaper. No denying that point. Again, the .40 S&W is more of a duty cartridge and in that capacity it's superior to both the .45 ACP and 9x19. How is it? That's simple... 9x19 124gr +P Speer Gold Dot as loaded by Underwood. Listed at 1,300 fps and 465 ft lbs. That's in a 4.63 inch barrel from a Glock 17. Here's a .40 S&W 180gr Gold Dot also from Underwood from a 4.1 inch barrel in a Glock 23, 1,100 484 ft lbs. That's not +P... Here's a 135gr .40 S&W also from a 4.1 inch barrel in a Glock 23, 1,400 fps and 588 ft lbs. Here's a +P 185gr .45 ACP from a 5 inch barrel in a 1911 from Underwood at 1,200 fps and 592 ft lbs. You see the trend here? It takes +P and +P+ to equate to a non +P load. Compare standard pressure to standard pressure and that power gap the .45 seems to have right now is gone... 9mm standard pressure is a joke. But once more... laws of physics. a 180gr and 185gr bullet moving at those speeds, you're not going to see a massive difference in penetration or performance. Difference is .45 ACP standard pressure is often moving at 900 fps or so from a 5 inch gun, from a 4 inch about 840 fps. The .40 S&W is often moving at 1,000 fps from a 4 inch gun with a 180gr round.
      What aids 9mm in penetration is mostly down to bullet design and being +P or +P+'d to death. And .45 ACP has similar penetration to 9x19 standard pressure mostly because of that weight difference, which .40 S&W has been proven to give similar results to yet .45 penetrates better? Physics disagree with you heavily. Personal experience disagrees with you heavily, many LEO's disagree with you heavily, and anything else or anyone else that wants to be added to that list can go right ahead. Your absurd statement that .40 S&W was marketed towards wiggers, bangers, and etc is just beyond stupid and shows who really knows nothing about the caliber. It was marketed towards LEO's, and like anything marketed towards LEO's and military, the civilian world gets wind of it and "has to have it too", then companies and magazines work overtime to market it and sell it to you. What do you think Gen 5 Glock's are? They're the new "FBI Glock Model" that everyone had to have... The Glock 19X? The Glock the military was "shafted out of" and everyone "had to have". In short... suckers who blindly follow trends about what's hip and cool and use it for their justification.

    Plastic guns can it be 3D printed

    • @markjohnson206
      @markjohnson206 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using 9mm you'd get a single inaccurate under powered shot out of a 3D printed gun which would explode after that first round.

    This is hilarious. Glock made this gun in 1988, yet every company is touting it as their next great invention, a gun the sits in the sweet spot between easily concealable and a full size gun. LMFAO! Why not just say “this is our version of the Glock 19.” Then you can tell us why it’s better.

      There is a little more to a gun than just size. Glock has the ridiculous hump and sub-par trigger.

      John Bruce Did you read my comment? “Then tell us why it is better.” I am tired of these companies acting like they invented the 15 round polymer compact pistol yesterday. Just say it’s your version of the 30 year old Glock 19, AND WHY IT IS BETTER: trigger, grip angle, accuracy, pic rail, etc... But don’t act you’ve just created a new size of pistol that’s great for duty and conceal carry.

      Ever heard of a colt 1911? Every major company has made their own version since 1911 so your glock is nothing special. It’s all about making their own version

      It can be better for some because it has more natural grip angle, which helps to point and aim naturally and also eliminates slide bite issues. It has set of better sights. Glocks were good 20 years ago. These days every major company makes reliable polymer handgun that offers everything Glock does plus something extra on top of that.
