    Gotta say, when all other methods failed and was just stripping away more of the screw (size #00) the one method that worked was soldering the screwdriver to the screw. Had to repeat a few times, but it's out! Amazing, thanks!

    The tape method worked!! Admittedly I didn't have a small enough screwdriver for these really tiny screws but putting some fire retardant tape (which usually is very rubbery and flexible on the surface) worked, although very slowly and required some force.

    If your pentalobe screw isn't coming out (as in it makes a slight click noise as you rotate it), try and unscrew it to just before it clicks. Get a magnet and place it on the screw and pull out. This worked for me.

    Thanks for the great video! I don't know what kind of screws my Huawei Mate 9 had, but nothing easy worked. I went down the drilling path which was nerve-wracking but worked well. Frankly, I don't even know why they have screws; there is so much tension just prying the case open, that even if there were no screws it wouldn't open by itself in a million years. I changed out my battery which wouldn't fully charge and I was getting constant overheating warnings. Got everything back together and it is now working perfectly. Thanks again for making this video!!!

    I was looking for some tips on how to remove a stripped screw inside a phone. There are a couple options here that might consider. But I just wanted to add that if you’re just simply trying to remove a broken screen, you can use and I said some mowers badger and just ripped the screen off and break the screw tabs completely off of the old broken screen. I’ve done that a couple of times. I do in-Home/in-office repairs and sometimes that’s all I can do.
    Another thing is he mentioned the screws not wanting to come out. Sometimes on aftermarket screens, the screw tabs are bent inwards a bit and if you don’t bend them towards the frame of the phone before installation, the screws won’t come out. So one option is to screw the pentalobe screws back in with a bit of force so that you make those tabs bend outwards and then when you unscrew it it will push out of the phone.

    If the screw is up at all from the edge of the phone, you might be able to use a pair of flush cutters to get enough grip to twist it out. When all else failed, this worked for me.

    Thank you I literally tried everything else, I ended up just having to break the screen off on my xs, however, when I opened it, nothing actually broke, it just opened, the little hole on the screen side is bent, as though the screw was put in not aligned properly and they just pushed the little bracket back and bent it, and was never actually through the hole at all 🙃 no idea how that works as this is its first opening but thanks!

    Another way (I just found out) is great for internal screws. As the Y-screws wear out pretty fast, that indicates that the metal is quite soft. So I took a scalpel and forced it in the screws head so it bites. After a few turns, the screw was finally out. Screw was f***ed, but I had a replacement.

    1:45 they should include the proper bit with devices these days, or at least the proper "size" description so we know what to use without damaging the tiny soft-metal screws
    6:20 left handed drill bits would be best bc it might even back out the screw

    What’s you solution for stripped iPhone 7 tri point screws on the home button?

    • @GoCellPhoneRepair
      @GoCellPhoneRepair  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've only dealt with one iPhone 7 Y000 that was stripped but it was on the battery terminal cover not the home button. In your case I think it would depend on which screw. The one directly behind the button could be a problem if you applied pressure which is what I did in addition to using a similar sized Torx bit that was able to grip enough for removal. You might be able to carefully use a blade and cut a straight slot into it then use the smallest Phillips you can find. Jewelers use a ridiculously small one that supposedly can fit into a stripped Pentalobe screw from what I'm told but I don't have first hand experience on that. If I think of anything else I'll add it here later.

    Wait, what? What is this about Pentalobe?? drivers and regular Philips? Where can I buy these different types of drivers and what do I even search for? I tried searching for ph000 japan style screwdriver and came up with nothing. What should I even be looking for? A bit more info on this subject would have certainly been nice, as not knowing where to even find these unique drivers is not going to help us solve these issues in the future. Heck, I wasn't even aware there was any sort of difference and now I have a stripped screw on my Nintendo Switch.
