  • Here's how to remove/replace a Honda visor. This one happens to be for a 2008 Accord, but this type is used across many vehicle models and for many years.
    Edit/Update: I shot this in one take and never thought even 100 people would watch it. I'm amazed at the amount of views. Leave a comment if it helped.

    Easy peasy. Sunvisor in daughter's 2008 Honda Accord had been broken for several years. Finally had enough when I went to drive it yesterday. I came in the house, search for a video, found yours, went back out to the car to remove the visor, drove to the junkyard, pulled one out of a wrecked Accord for $7, drove back home and washed it up, then installed it. Process from searching the video to final installation less than an hour. Thank you!

  • @teamkeller
    @teamkeller ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thanks for the easy explanation. I just had my 2009 headliner replaced. The installer must not have relatched the visor properly as it fell the first time it was used for the side setting. I watched this video and placed it back in, as described, being sure to push the visor toward the windshield. Now it's as good as new!

    Pushing that clip in was a real challenge (for me), but I finally got it to move by using a mirror and looking into the car at the clip opening through the windshield. My wife sat in the drivers seat and pulled the visor back toward her (and thus the driver's side window) little by little, while I worked the clip with a long (9 inch), thin flathead screwdriver (counterintuitively, as I started out assuming a short one would have to be used). Before each push of the screwdriver, I first positioned it using the mirror, then put down the mirror and used both hands to apply the pressure in and forward towards the "wall." Interestingly, once it moved a small amount, my wife was able to move the visor back ("reload") without dislodging the now partially "submerged" clip, and then pull it back again, very slowly, as I positioned the screwdriver tip and then pushed the clip in - and under - one final time. As rothbj1 stated in the video, the visor literally fell out of the ceiling. Removing the electrical coupling and then installing the new visor was simple: Just reattached the coupling, positioned the mechanism into the ceiling (it fit snuggly once the pole and triple prong thing slipped into their respective slots, which are easy to see looking up into the empty hole) and gently pushed the visor toward the windshield. Once I heard that click, I knew my work was done. Thanks for the great video; it helped a LOT!!

I wanted to take it off before ordering a new just to see if I could fix it and reinstall it. From the looks of my visor I’m going to have to replace it. It hangs dong a bit. It won’t sit back up flush with the head liner. They are stupid expensive. If someone could tell me where I could get another one cheap but new I would appreciate it. Most of the cabin components I see at junk yards they are dirty and smells moldy from someone leaving the windows open or shattered windshields .

    Thanks for this video. That tab was a bit difficult pushing in. I started with a standard, small flat head, but then switched to an offset screwdriver which had a thicker head. It was still hard pressing that tab in, but I got it. I've owned a 1990 and 1995 Honda with over 250,000 miles and currently own a 2004 Honda with 257,000 miles. NEVER had this problem with any of those cars. Did Honda change the way they manufactured these visors for the 7th gen? Got mine at BK Honda for $125 (including tax). This is a fair amount of money for something that shouldn't have failed after 10 years (on my 2014 Honda Accord).

      The post fits into a hole in the roof. Your rotating the visor back (like normal). This causes the 3 - pronged feature to rotate and lock it all up in the roof. Kind of like locking a deadbolt.

      I wouldn't do that. Once you get the tab under the edge (like at 0:30), try pushing on the 'wall' of the tab to push it underneath, and hopefully unlocked. It may help the push the whole assembly upward into the roof to relieve a little tension on the locking feature.

    I've had two fall out while driving (2010 Accord, 2018 RDX). The tab actually broke off in both cases. Kinda sucks but at least you can replace it yourself and avoid paying the dealer.

    Do you know if the visors for the 2013-2017 Accord would physically fit in a 2014 Civic? I'm trying to upgrade mine.

      Don't know for sure, but if the mechanism is the same as shown here, I'd venture there is a very good chance. The one shown was from a 2008.
