      😍Debbiiiieee, hi! 💐 woohoo 😅 or, maybe not 🤔😅 I mean, if it comes to how to say the genus name, for these, somewhat smaller orchids, RLC when said fully, is quite the mouth full and Potinara seems more appropriate. Goodness me! Anyway, I hope that your RLCs are growing well 😘 and thank you so much for a comment that, once again, put a smile on my face! I see what you did there 😂 also, thank you for watching. I hope you are having a fabYOUlous day 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    This is one group of orchids that I really enjoy. 🥰 Although, not all of them are small in size, found out the fun way. 😅 🥳

      🦤🦅😍 Wingman, hi!! I like them because they are temperamental and it takes a lot of observation and interpretation to get them to be happy. I know I could grow mine better if it had enough light and somewhat warmer temps. But, thankfully, the sophronities in these makes them a little more temperature tolerant, or else, I am sure that I would have lost it long time ago. It is one of those that always seems to be on the edge of collapse, but then another growth comes through 🤷🏼‍♀️ hopefully the current conditions are not going to take it out 😬 thank you so much for watching, my friend!! Have yourself a great start to the new week 🫶🏼❤️🌸

      🌸🥷🏼Samurai Julie San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good morning, beautiful! I do enjoy these tiny blooms, yes! They really are super interesting with their different oranges 🧡 I am glad, though, I only have one to deal with 😂 if another pops into the collection, then it will be back to the drawing board with that one as well, because, who know what 'you' want that the other one does not need 🙄😂 hope you are already having a beautiful day, by the time you read this! Thank you so very much for watching 🌸🥷🏼Amiga San!! You are so appreciated 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    Hi Nina, Great video! I saw the title, but I didn't connect it with my comment, LOL. Thanks for the shout-out!!
    I love the flowers on your little Golden Boy! I have a couple of Potinaras, so now I will go to Orchids Roots to see their parents to get an idea of how to better care for them. These are great tips and lots of good information! I hope you have a great weekend! Thank you!

      😍HI Mr. Kyle 💐 I had to chuckle when I read your comment 'One word: Potinara' 😅 because you nailed it with that one, soooo you are welcome! Thank you so much for that comment, for the 'knowing chuckle' and well, the inspiration to talk about this nothogenus, which is in actual fact obsolete 🙄 back to the drawing board (kinda) 😂 thank you also for the feedback on the information and taking a moment to have a look see! Wishing you a wonderful rest of your weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    Hi Nina! Omg….is that what is wrong with them? I have two, I was wonder what a Potinara was. They look like mini catts. I figured they made up another name to get us to buy, lol. Two years struggling along, they are now happy blooming regularly. Well, so far. 😂. One stalled for a year and I baked the other. All good now 😂. Thank you for informing us again. I got schooled again! ❤️

      🌸🥷🏼BeBe San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 HI!! I hope you are having a wonderful day already 🫶🏼 these little ones can be forgiven if they have an identity crisis! Dang!! Not only are they a huge Forrest Gump box of chocolates kind of orchid because of their ancestors and then the hybridisation, but also, now they have to cope with all the name changes... I am not surprised they do not know what they are supposed to do when, and why we have some difficulty to get them to grow right! The sophronitis parent, in many of them, now called cattleya, makes them a little more finicky, imo, as they can get stressed very quickly if not given time to relax a little with an occasional cooldown, even during the growing season. They are mini cattleyas, but with a crisis 😂 I am glad that your's are doing well, after the ups and downs of trying to get them to grow well. While their appearance tells us all we think we need to know to make them happy, the information goes deeper than what we see on the surface. Amazing, and I only have one to understand 😂 thank you so much for watching 🌸🥷🏼Amiga San!! So appreciate you 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    interesting that yours became an RLC from Pot, probably 80% of the formerly Pot went into Rth (Rhyncattleanthe). Given the size, I would have expected it to be an Rth as well. Of course it could become something else if they do decide to split the rupiculous laelia back out of Cattleya.
    Potinara is now a dead nothogenus because all members of Sophronitis have been reclassified.

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! One day, there will be another reclassification shuffle, of that I am sure. When I put this video together, based on the information, I was so tempted to say 'Potinara as a nothogenus is now obsolete' BUT, I try my hardest to not speak in obsoletes when it comes to orchids, especially names, so I made a concerted effort to use words like some, and IF etc, just in case there is someone out there that is going to come in and put a scalding hammer to my head because of ONE exception. Just covering my derriere 😬🤐 I don't like to be raked over the coals because of words that may or may not sound as if I am laying down the law. 🙄 BUT, I am so glad that you added this into the comments, because 100% correct and people should know that. Also, I could react in my reply to you! Secretly, I was hoping that you would pick up on it 😉🤗 thank you for watching and for your amazing support! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸

      @NinjaOrchids  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Hi Jo 😍💐 thank YOU so much for your time watching and the support here on the channel! I appreciate you 🫶🏼 so, if I can be of any help when it comes to the names, please let me know where I can start unravelling the confusion. I am not going to link a live stream seminar here right out of the gate, because it is approx 2 hrs long... maybe more, I don't remember, but I have a live stream where I went through orchid names, and tags etc. Not sure if you would like to have a look see. If you would, then let me know, and I will link it here. However, if it is too confusing even watching a stream about the subject, then please let me know how I can make it so that names will never be confusing to you again 🥰😘 Thank you so much for watching, Jo! I hope you are having a lovely day 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    I have two Potinara and I do have a time with them to bloom, at times they will get the sheath but no buds to bloom 😢 gets to be so disappointed 😢 but when they do bloom beautiful
    Potinara Hawaiian Prominence
    Potinara Burana Beauty

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      HI Barb 😍💐 they really are little divas, right? And you are absolutely right... when they bloom, they truly are beautiful 👍🏼 If I may, your Hawaiian Prominence is now Rhyncholaeliocattleya Hawaiian Prominence and your Burana Beauty, is now Rhyncattleanthe Burana Beauty. The name change does not make them 'easier' to understand and more clear as to how to get them to perform consistently, but, just in case you were to be interested 😬 hope you don't mind me adding the name change in my reply 🙏🏼 so appreciate you watching, lovely lady!! I hope your day is going beautifully for you and I wish you a wonderful rest of your weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    Seeing how much you fertilize during growth makes me wonder if I’m not fertilizing enough. I don’t actually have any Potinara, but I do have a Rhyncholaelia which is one of the ancestors. Do Rhyncholaelias also need a (relatively high dose of CalMag when in active growth? Sorry, if I’m going down an unrelated rabbit trail here! 😂

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Hi Linda 😍💐 never apologize for any question you have on any topic, even if it is not related to the video at all! I love hearing from you and love being able to help out when and where I can! So, keep them coming, no matter what the video is about 🥰 Rhnycholaelias need quite a lot of fertilizer. Speaking of which, my digbyana, for example, gets 300 ppm every time the reservoir empties. BUT, I don't want to over do it when it comes to calcium nitrate or calmag, with the bigger orchids, because ... if they are not showing signs of deficiencies, then the 150ppm for the larger orchids is sufficient, seeing as I am supplementing, and for that reason, even the larger orchids only get what the smaller 'potinaras' get. When it comes to the smaller ones, that I mention in this video as a genus they behave just like their larger counterparts. It seems they have inherited the stomach of their large ancestors 😂 BUT, for the little ones, 300ppm of fertilizer makes no sense... for that reason, only the larger ancestor species, get 300ppm. I hope that makes sense? See? I went off on a tangent in my reply 😂 really appreciate you, Linda! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    Nina, my very knowledgeable friend! I have a question about damage on some mini phal leaves. I’m hoping that it is sun/plant light damage but would like your opinion. I don’t recall ever having sun damage that looks quite like this. I will send you an email with the pictures. Thanks so much!!!
