I really like this video, thank you!! ❤
I'm a carpenter of 17 years and have built so many bathrooms for other people... now I'm finally about to do my own!!!!
I love the natural stone look, and really fell for it when i visited the middle east.
Subway and mosaic tiles in shower areas are not ideal as there is much more chance of deterioration of the grout which affects the waterproofing membrane.
I've also never been a fan of timber look tiles. As a carpenter it's either timber or not. The feel and touch of timber is what makes it so beautiful!!!!
Awesome video, thanks for all the ideas i will use some of them!! 😊

I have 3 showers in my home two walk ins with NO shower doors, greatest thing I've ever done.

Why? Doesn't water get spilled out?

@barygol One was designed to not have over spray and I made modifications (moved the shower head) on the other so that's not a problem. Soap scummy shower doors are my personal pet peeve.

OMG - right? Clawfoot tubs are definitely timeless!

I’m sorry: having lived many years with tile floors and walls, I’ve learned the hard way that the smaller the tiles, the more grout lines there are to get dirty and need to be cleaned.
Cleaning tile grout is a brutal nightmare !
So I would opt for any other options with less grout lines.
    Form should follow function!
    Thanks for listening

Exactly that. That is why the trend goes to very big tiles or completely tile free. I don't think that is a trend because less grout lines is just so much easier to clean. I am certain this will stay.

If you prefer timelessness over personal style, start by knowing the vintage style that goes with the age of your home. Let that inspire and influence your design choices while incorporating our modern expectations. A marble style quartz may be best in a Victorian while tarazo style quartz may be the choice for a vintage ranch. In doing this, you will achieve a "time capsule effect" conveying a well preserved example that is true to it's true identity instead of trying to immulate or compete with new construction and modern trends.

Such a great perspective! It's true that blending timeless elements with modern expectations can create a space that honors its history while staying functional for today. Love the idea of a 'time capsule effect it really brings the home's character to life!

FYI, “epitome” is pronounced eh-pit-uh-me. 😉 Hope this is helpful. English is a confusing language.

    What about luxstone?

    • @pennymodern
      @pennymodern  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The Luxstone shower walls by Kohler look great! Just would want to see the pattern at full scale so it looks “real”. Some of them look really fake. We did the acrylic shower walls at our old place and loved it - they were a white subway tile pattern.

Love your channel. Just a slight note. "EP-ih-tom" is pronounced "Uh PIT ah mi." :)

It's funny saying "Subway tiles never go out of fashion" when I remember them being out of fashion, it was difficult to get them in the 90s. That said, I don't think they're going anywhere soon. But then people thought 4" square tiles were totally classic and only now are they starting to come back into style after about 30 years. And zellige tiles? Yes, they're an historic style, but they're a fad. And they're often really difficult to clean with all the weird edges. I suspect the zellige tile thing will be out of fashion and there will be "What were they thinking??" videos in five years.
    Also, BTW it's pronounced e-pit-o-me, not ep-i-tome.

I can't understand these freestanding tubs. Don't these women need to both shave their legs and wash their hair? I must be the only French Celtic girl in America, I have more work to do. Plus those vessel sinks look impractical, water everywhere?

    • @barygol

I thought french girls didn't shave...

I like your videos... however, please note these following creator tips...
    1) try to say your voice overs not read them. Your points are excellent, but your reading is throwing us off. Instead say a few times like in a conversation...
    2) please change your "direction" of slides. Your photos are excellent examples, and some are more interesting than others, and we may pause on some.. the timing of the pics, are not all the same...please try to hold the pics the same times... also you always have them shifting in and out to the right.. I am over sensitive to the visuals with my eyes, having to go the same direction all the time.. please try to fade in, go up or down, and also more slowly rather than super fast switching to the right.
I feel these changes will elevate your awesome content videos above other creators...as well as the horrible AI ones, that we all can't stand...
We love that you are a REAL person let alone a designer yourself... cudos, and I'm sure we are all here for your amazing examples, ideas, and fun in your sharing of your creative soul..
    Cheers

Thanks so much for the thoughtful and constructive feedback. I have been working hard on my voiceovers but still have a ways to go! I will work on the transitions too! Thank you it really does help small TH-camrs like me to get better!
