I remember that game! Fouts was awesome. Bad defence, that's why we didn't make it. I think Herbert is better and we have a good defence in 2022. Benn waiting 45 years for a Superbowl win!

I’m so happy we r protecting
      Justin Herbert with the
      Offensive Line protection.
      Herbert will be the next
      Oregon Duck/ Chargers QB Legend
Excited to watch this new team hopefully
finally achieve that main goal 🏆
Let’s Go Los Angeles battle Chargers!
      Charge!!!!!!! ⚡️🐴 🏈

Same here in remembering this one live. Then the next week the Chargers went into an icebox in Cincinnati on the coldest day of my lifetime. The shock to the Chargers had to be unreal.

I remember seeing this game live, The team was primed and poised for a super bowl, but the frigid weather the following week prevented us from it. That and lack of defense. But the air coryel years were great fun football.

I was completely exhausted after this game. Dan Fouts was named MVP before this game was played. Kellen Winslow completely deserves his HOF votes. He was the pioneer of this type of offense. He lead the way.
Wes Chandler was a beast and thank god we got him! Chuck Muncie scored 19 rushing TD’s this season. Some very proud moments from our team. 💪⚡️🤗🤗

How about 4:23 with 3rd & 20 !? You’re right it was exhausting just watching. Then the poor Chargers went to the -59 below zero Cincinnati game or the Chargers would’ve played the 49ers in the 1981/2 Super Bowl that launched the 49ers towards team of the decade. Great Chargers team & at a time when we hadn’t seen Dan Marino nor John Elway in the NFL yet. Fouts was the man. He was the Sheriff of the late 70s early 80s.

From the hook and trailer on right before the half I was on my feet in front of the tv yelling positives and screaming negatives for the rest of the game. Then the next week it was Ice Station Zebra. I been in this a loooong time. Too many years to stop now. #boltup ⚡⚡⚡

I was mentally exhausted after that game. A neighbor (probably raiders fan) actually called cops on us for being too loud. Karens circa 1981.
Fouts was a really accurate, smart QB and his receivers could get open and had great hands.. Air Coryell All salute...

this next chargers offense could be in for something comparable. Relative for 2022 standards. But what Air Coryell didn't have was a good enough defense.

Chargers needed a defensive coach, they weren't even mark average. Sad Dan Fouts would of truly been a beast if he only had defensive. So many points they put up with against good defensive opponents.
