Should I SELL My AMG G63 After 1 Year?

- My AMG G63 has been in the garage for 10 months, but what happens next? I bought the G Wagon expecting to keep it for about 1 year but plans have changed, so by way of an update what will it do from here.
I collected the Mercedes-AMG beast back in June 2019 and since then it has covered 7,100 miles or so - but still a fair number below what was expected. This was in part due to the incident with my McLaren Senna meaning that it wasn't then used to transport the Senna to various events through Europe during the later parts of the year. However, it started life with the Topaz Skin installed, followed by the Akrapvoic exhaust system and RENNtech tune to 727hp.
Fast forward though, the condition of the G63's Topaz Skin is very impressive, it has done an amazing job of avoiding swirl marks while of course keeping a very bright appearance in the Cerulean Blue. Overall there's not much to complain about other than a fault it has developed with the parking sensors which come in far too quickly without actually seeing obstacles. It's been used to transport various cars around including collecting my new SLS AMG Black Series from Germany, and multiple trips with my McLaren Senna and AMG GT R Pro, as well as a decent amount of daily driving and usage.
However, the original thinking had been to look to perhaps change it after a year or so, but how does that stack up now? Let's see how it's going and what I think the future holds for the G63 Shmeemobile! Will there be a new model, like an AMG G73? Would I replace it with something else? Let's see...

Time is flying by, I've already had the AMG G63 for 10 months which means it's approaching having owned it for a year; the amount of the time I originally thought I'd keep it. So, what next, should I keep it as one of the Shmeemobiles?

Thought this was the best thing since sliced bread. Great about town. Great for towing when needed as well.

The G was bought to drive around with the Senna(or other cars) in the trailer to have beautiful momories. So if that thing did not happen, i suggest to not sell the G.
It hasn't happened enough yet! It has towed the Senna, the GT R Pro, and the SLS BS from Germany; but we need to do it more

Keep it. It is an absolute beast of a car, as well as being luxurious and comfy. Furthermore, it has the practicality element of towing around your other insane cars, making it incredibly useful
@@Shmee150 yes, you towed the cars from one place to another, but, no trackday, no Nurburgring, etc. When i said amazing memories i wasn't reffering to bringing the cars home(even though it is a special moment to bring a new "baby" home). The G hasn't quite delivered what u promised when you bought it(i can understand why) and i just can't wait to see you with the Senna, GT, Pro and SLS(and not only these ones) doing amazing things again.
Personally, if I were in your shoes I'd keep it for towing until the next version is released, and then depending on personal finances either sell/trade it as a deposit for the next towing machine or modify it for multi-day offroading expeditions.

Please keep it Tim. I love seeing it on the channel, and when the lockdown/pandemic is over, there's so much stuff I'd love to see you do with it, such as a proper off-road adventure or do the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in it.
I think that the UK has some dumb rule that only people with a race license can drive on Goodwood. That's why you don't see a lot of CarTubers doing it. They're usually sitting in the passenger's seat.
I always thought you work hard. I am blown away how you could have so many videos taken before the COVID-19 crisis.

Alpher it is an suv, a full size off-road capable SUV, it can do it all. An off-roader are just off-road capable SUVs, so it is still an SUV. Not to mention to massive wheels that make it impractical as an off-road vehicle compared to a jeep

Definitely keep it. It's a very luxurious and reliable car, plus it's a great daily driver. But of course, It's your car Tim, so you can do whatever you want, but I would definitely recommend keeping it!
Also, I hope you're doing ok in the UK! These times are pretty difficult, probably even worse for you, since your Prime Minister is in the ICU, but again stay safe.
The brake hold you mentioned on the mercedes is really good. I have it on my car and cant live without it but never heard of another car that has it.
Lots of new cars are coming out with that feature.

Honestly, the G63 is a car that you made yourself, with all the things you´ve done to it. I would keep it... Also its a perfect daily driver. Dont sell it!

@@milosilic23 no offence, those focuses are a future investment. Look at the MK2 Ford Focus as an example, some sell for over 30k and they are 8 years old. Shmee's one are heritage editions as well which will make them a future classic for sure

I love it, and think you should keep it! It's awesome! I know you like to move through cars and get the new models, which is fun, but it looks so good, you've updated it to look, sound, and perform amazing. I know that would be the idea with whatever is next, but what a fun beast you have RIGHT NOW. And it has treated you well, you have a nice, comfortable personal toy hauler, and boss mode personal transport box. Personally, i think, instead of switching this one, maybe buy or start renting your own personal trailer for hauling, well, basically any of your other cars to places for more, excellent fun. And what better way to show up, than in an awesome beast like that, hauling your own other awesome cars. Agreed. Keep it! :)
Shmee150, glad to see the G is hanging around a while longer. How are plans coming along to provide content whilst we're all stuck indoors? Any plans for a series about the 'evolution of Shmee150'? A mini series taking us from the first cars to the current, the trips and the dream cars you've driven, almost like an autobio of the 10 years so far. I'm aware that we could just watch the back catalogue, but it would be a cool thing to watch as an updated and stand alone thing with archive footage helping to re-tell the story. Looking forward to more great content!

It reminds me of the time I got stuck behind a land rover which had wedged itself under a low beam in a multi-story car park. The solution was to let nearly all the air out of the tyres! Every time you say "cheers" at the end it reminds me of the character Larry Lamb - look it up!

Shmee it really up to you but remember that the black Series is going to be finish painting pretty soon so your going to pick it up plus you Topaz painted it in one of your favorite color witch cost a pretty penny so I think you should keep it a little longer but at the end it all up to you anyway I knowing whatever you do it's going to be the best thing for you and the channel so a big tums UP to you and your team for making these videos that are very intertanin and uplifting and help me kill some time in these days of really needed positive entertainment.
18-19mpg is incredibly good considering its fuel, size, weight, and performance.

If you're going to spend money customising a car to your liking then you should keep it. I've never understood why people spend so much on a car only to sell it a month or two later.
Because during their ownership they want to make it their own? To enjoy it even more! And they have the money to do so, so why not?
When this car in that colour is with the Senna it makes sense. When it’s alone... that colour combo is just a bit weird and dare I say distasteful

I saw Tim’s G63 in the super car parking at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the summer (sadly didn’t meet Tim) Let me tell you I was not a 100% on the colour until I saw it in the metal. It looks awesome!!

I've loved having the Mercedes hold for the last decade or so but test driving an Audi recently I prefer how they've implemented auto-hold. You basically don't have to do anything... it just auto-holds when you come to a stop.
Definitely keep it permanently as a shmeemobile. It’s the only SUV, it’s a very special car and with the exhaust and renntech tube it’s one of a kind!💙

Don’t do it Shmee! This car clicks every box when it comes to being exotic, practical (nevermind the gas mileage), luxurious, perfect for towing your other cars, fun, has a ripping awesome exhaust, is in the best car color ever....do I need to go on? Definitely hold onto it till the next refresh.

Honestly I’d keep the G Wagon.
I bet you have a great method for getting content online quickly and consistently, however I don't think it would be crazy to EQ the sound on your videos. I have my computer on speakers and the amount of noise on the low end makes me need to unplug to hear this. Obviously don't waste time because the content is always amazing. Also wouldn't want to cut the low end when hearing exhaust notes etc...

You don't loan someone your $200k car to use as a tow vehicle. LOL. Not to mention that he would have to let the insurance company know that he is renting it and the person is using it as a commercial vehicle.

Record with a stereo mic and ask people to wear headphones. Actually that’s a interesting video idea, POV camera and stereo mics so you can see and ear from the drivers perspective in some of these cars.

Keep itttt, it’s a beast of a car and the paint job is one of a kind, it’s the ultimate towing car and it’s an awesome daily. Like I imagine that’d be hard to daily a Ferrari GTC4Lusso so it’s got a pretty good purpose and it’s a best of a car.
