Welcome to Pakistan, Brother Nelson. The taxi man was very nice, and charged very reasonable rate, around $7.5 for the trip. The petrol in Pakistan is now very expensive, he may have spent 500 Rupees out of 2000 Rupees on Petrol, plus he had to pay Airport security person 100 Rupees. He made sure you get the hotel room. The hotel lobby attendant was Hindu Pakistani, that is why he was curious and asked about your India visit. It is also normal for foreign travelers to show ID, which is their passport anywhere in the world. Enjoy your trip in Pakistan. It is a fun place.

Actually we have our own black community in pakistan especially in Lyari area of Karachi mostly are Balochs.
Insure pakistan have every community from black to brown to white (lterally whiter then any european), Pakistan have descendent from almost every big civilization that existed in past due to the most famous historic trade route( Silk route) which pass through the heart of pakistan.

FIRST SCAM....
It costs a maximum of 500 rupees from airport to city center but if you asked for 3000 rupees or 2000 rupees, or you took rounds in the city so that you understand that city center is far so you gave money to the driver, this is a very big scam. Yes, this happens with all the tourists, when the driver asked us the address then why was he roaming around in the city or making excuses for asking the address?
lol they have agreed the price up front so he doesn't need to do that anyway and in this day and age 500 doesn't even cover fuel costs... saying that for 2000 I would have expected a new taxi and would not have got in this one.

The reason they were not giving you the hotel room is they are registerd as guest houses and in karachi foreigners are not allowed to have a room in guest house they are only allowed in hotels registerd by the goverment
