Hit a great overhead smash today, so this video deserves all the credit!

I’ve learned more in three of Simone’s lessons than in a hundred of the other online lessons that I’ve watched in the past year. I’ve been playing one year now and have been plateaued at the 3.5-4 level for some months. These lessons are like a shot of adrenaline and I’m seeing improvement already. I particularly love the detailed analysis/strategy of why certain movements should be made which is a big confidence booster on the court as otherwise I often feelI like I’m just floundering around and guessing instead of moving with purpose. Thank you Simone, oh, and Eddie too!!!

I like the kitchen rule comment regarding touching the kitchen results in a fault when going back. Great explanation of how to handle the sun as well.

Thanks a lot. Best explanation, step by step, I’ve seen on over-head smash and drill. Good work. Very good explanation on pronation. More details on pronation would be appreciated.

The non-dominant guide arm is really the key to CONSISTENT overheads. I think the actual stroke itself is fairly easy, but a lot of time I see people have their non-dominant arm by their side. They may hit it in every now and then, but it is not as consistent as it could be.

Thank you Simone. Would you use the overhead from the baseline with a deep lob when your on defense? Or would you drop it back in? Thanks.

Hi Simone, great videos…super helpful! I just started playing pickleball at the end of last year and absolutely love it! Would you be able to recommend the best sneakers for a light versatile step while playing? Thanks!

Thank you, about half of my smashes go into the net, hopefully that technique will eliminate that.

related question. when the opposing team hits this overhead lob, and the other team prepares to hit the overhead....
    (1) do both players on the attacking team both retreat backwards at the same time and roughly same front-back position?
    (2) the lobbing team...now they're defending the smashed lob. when they see that the lob will be smashed, should they retreat backwards to the baseline to best defend the overhead lob?

One may also use the form of serving the ball in tennis as onerhead shot.

Yes, overhead and tennis serving motions are similar.

Are there ways to hit overheads when the lob is to your off-side?

As a former semi-professional badminton player, I found that smashing is the easiest skill to master in pickleball.

I wish you had explained what "pronate" means. It took me over 6 months to accidentally find out what it is and how important it is for an overhead.
