I recently purchased a tactical feyachi FL-14 tac light for around $30 on amazon and let me tell you, I wouldn't be surprised if she is as bright as the 1200 lumens she claims on having.
I would love it if y’all tested the flashlights on one or two of the newer smartphones as a reference point. Seeing as almost everyone has that flashlight in their pocket and uses it daily, it would help put into context just how powerful or shitty some of these flashlights are. 😂
I have not watched ttc much (yet), But aVe is a friggin canadiddlian Legend. Project farm tests shit thorough and provides useful info to us. Funny how your shortlist hit so close😊
Diesel tech here. I really like my little Streamlight Stylus Pro flashlight. I use it more than any tool in my box. Being a penlight it'll fit in your uniform shirt pocket next to your pen. It only takes two AAA batteries. It's a bright little light that comes in handy all the time everyday. I'd like to see a review of a few different pen lights. Thanks for the awesome videos man, keep up the good work!
On the battery part of the chart could you put whether batteries are replaceable 18650s, alkaline, or internal? Easily replaceable batteries are big plus so you don't have to worry about any downtime.
I have 3 of the Gearlight S2000 ones and have been extremely happy with them. For 2 years they have held up well to camping, boating, and general household use. Never really believed the 1200 lumens but I'm still sometimes surprised at the brightness when I focus the beam on something at night. Thanks for all the awesome videos, you've cost me lots of money! :)
Thanks for doing the OLight. Thats the one I have. The magnet mount is a little too weak, but its great when working on cars and it stays in place. One of my more favorite features is that the belt/pocket clip doubles as a hat clip so you can have a headlight if you are wearing a hat!
Great to see the olight included. I rank it as one of the best purchases I've made under $100. You don't need to cycle into high before going into turbo. Just double tap the power button and you're in turbo from any setting, including off. Triple tap for strobe. Long depress for "moonlight" which is honestly the most useful one when even my phone light would disturb someone and I still need to see something.
@@Divici02623 they are both excellent. If I had to choose I’d say Olight is my preference. A lot depends which specific models you buy. I own a bunch of the mid range to high end flashlights. I think I have about 9 or 10 total between both

Amazing job! The flat discharge curve of the Olight shows the flashlight has a DC-DC circuit to ensure consistent light output as the battery voltage drops. The others clearly follow the voltage profile of the battery chemistry, which means inconsistent light output.
*Had* one of the amazon best seller flashlights. It was ok, definitely not as bright as advertised but it worked.....for about a total of 2 hours total run time. Took the flashlight apart to find the LED got so hot it de soldered from the pcb board! re soldered the LED about 3 times in the flash lights life before the led eventually burning out. Decided to spend the money and get an Olight....Olight is still working like brand new! I own 3 of the lights you tested, The Olight, Astro, and Dr P. You pay for what you get! Great video!
Im a welding inspector and have the olight warrior mini. 1500 on turbo is so bright it is hardly ever necessary, even in the outdoors. The 1 and 15 lumen mode is great for close up technical work and the other modes are perfect for everything else. Best feature is the memory so it stays on the mode used last. I use this light every day and go 3 months before having to charge it. By far the best piece of equipment I have bought to date. 10/10 rating.
Finally a thorough test of these lights! I've found through wasting money over the years the goodness that is the Astro and Olight, but it's great to see some validation. Keep up the testing!
Love my olight s2R II, had mine for about a year now, and it rocks, lights up a room better than a 100w equivalent led bulb in turbo mode!! And takes a beating!
I've used the olite baton as a mechanic for about a year now, and I love it. It doesn't replace every light in the shop, but it fits in my pocket as an edc and is a good light. I've seen a LOT of my fellow coworkers use the stream light stinger models, seems like I see them in alot of catalogs and such as well, and I'd like to see how it stacks up to its own numbers
Olight offers a large variety of flashlights for different uses. Their insanely tough, durable and reliable. I remember thinking, "$100 for a flashlight?" But I fell in love with the thing the first time I turned it on. I was coming from a pair of three cell Mag Lites. Built in micro USB charging. I also have a couple of cheap 'AAA' COB lights that work well when I need to stuff a light into a small space or 'loan' someone a light. They only do a couple hundred lumens but at less than $10 I don't care if they get destroyed or not returned.

The M2R.. Is a work horse...I keep one in my van in the holder. Ready for use.. I know many mechanics that use them...I'm still on the SR1, SR2 and SR3... I like small lights I can carry in my pocket...
I'd love to see you test a Fenix light. I use my PD36R every day for work (Petroleum service tech). My research indicated it was the most practical all-round light around. I particularly like how the brightness adjustment is independent from the tail cap switch.
My trusty old Fenix LD20 (2xAA) has been used so consistently over 15 years I've almost worn the lanyard off where it attaches and the finish isn't what it used to be but it performs as new. Hope the PD36R serves equally well.
As an everyday, many-times-a-day (engineer working in facilities) user, I adore my pd36r. My only issue is the USB cover. It swells with exposure to oils and falls off after 6mo or so invariably.
I love my Astro flashlights. I just got two of their newer 52sl lights with the magnetic wireless charger. So convenient to have one on the charger and one in use without having to fiddle with plugging them in.
Hello again Tool Review Zone Thank you for another Great Video. Yes, I was ripped off on my very first Amazon purchased. I saw a set Torque adapters sockets for something like $28.00. How many of the rechargeable units allow them to be on while charging? I like a mix of rechargeable and AA powered units, while the rechargeable lights are great, when the power goes out for an extended time it's nice to be able to just pop in some fresh cells. One of the things I like with the HF lights I have is that you can easily swap out the cell, so I have a dedicated charger with 4 cells in it for just such times.
Rechargeable AA batteries have lower voltage and therefore lower output but last a good amount of time while being reusable. Amazon basic or Sanyo cells are a good buy.
@@reahs4815 some lights use both or are for a different purpose. I have two headlamps, one takes a protected 18650 or two cr123 cells and the other takes three AAA so I use rechargeable a in it. I simply replace alkaline with rechargeable, I try to get 18650 powered devices of possible like Bluetooth speakers and lights.
If you're going to test Olights, please test comparatively priced lights from Streamlight and/ or Surefire, Possibly Modlite. Also, you should test failure on Olights as they've been known to catastrophically fail.
Great video. Btw with Olight you can just double click to enter turbo mode from any other state. Holding the button is only required for moonlight mode.
I have an Olight that has the 90 degree head and a magnet on the bottom. It also has a head band. For fixing stuff, it work great, and is similar to the one you tested. The diffuser lens works the best if you're working on something. I've found most mechanical work needs around 100-150 lumens. Otherwise the light creates too much glare.
haha that is a good idea, get everyone's phone who works for them to put their phone on the chamber, no need to spend any money just a little bit of time, since a 1000$+ flashlight should get you a little more than ~300 lumens :D but it would be very cool to see if any of these brands are better than just holding your phone while doing some work
Ive been using a cheap 18650 flashlight for years. Well than I bought a nitecore tip se, smaller and brighter. Overal a mile better feeling. And it fits in your keychain or in your pocket very easily. It also like to turn on in my pocket.
I love seeing how these lights actually do. My wife got me that first one branded as wow lite and it’s decent but I usually grab one that fits in my pocket better or a full size light. I’ve also had a couple different astro knock offs. I like them except the tightening collars crack pretty easy. The coast hp3 pen light and the 590 lumen red 4 aaa light work excellent but eat batteries. The harbor freight braun light and quantum rechargeable pen light are probably my favorite and very reasonably priced. I threw out my streamlight stylus because I got tired of the button wearing out every couple weeks
Nitecore and Led Lenser are a must to check out. I use a Nitecore MT21C at work since the swivel head comes in handy a lot and I can hang it off my shirt. Seems like a great light and I've never had any issues with it, as well as the MT06MD as a pupil light
I would love to see a run time difference when you skip the "Turbo modes" that only last a few min. Who knows it could be an additional 10-15 min of run time!
Yes please! Great idea!! I loved the technical info.. and seeing the rate at which the lumens drop off was new to me. Awesome video, thank you. Energizer HD vision rechargeable 400 lumen was the headlamp I was going to order.. www.amazon.ca/dp/B07JD4KNKQ?tag=prcespder14-20&th=1&psc=1
Besides the HF Braun, I have a few Streamlight pencil style lights that are collecting dust. A head to head on these pencil style lights that can be cared in a shirt pocket would be great. I hate having to carry a light on my belt, they can be a pita if you are crawling under something or on a creeper....
try the microstream USB. it's half the size of the normal stream and has a lipo battery usb charged. half the size and brighter than the normal pin on high than what I used to carry, plus the new style clip that allows it to be clipped to a hat brim, I've used that way more than I thought I would. so far it's about the perfect everyday carry light for me, and the switch hasn't died like the other stream lights always seem to.
I use flashlights in underground tunnels and have been using Milwaukee 1100 lumen rechargeable model and it works very well and durable. I like it. Has replaceable battery only not sold on Amazon only at Home Depot $79
9:16 GFN means glass filled nylon. Not glass fiber nylon. FRN means fiberglass reinforced nylon. And the only reason I know either of those is cuz of Spyderco.
I’ve spent an absolute fortune on lights, specifically headlamps. And after all the brands and fancy ones I’ve tried over the last 10 years… I actually love the Nebo rebel that I’ve been using the past few years. I have three of them, and I use them every day, draining at least two of them completely. And on the lower setting… It’s still super bright but can last up to 8-10 hours! They’re super cheap, The rebel only cost about $30. and are built to a high standard just like my olights and others. I’m somewhat qualified to review these lights properly. I run a lab where I do component level board repairs for industrial clients, as well as test equipment calibration & metrology. I also work with a wide range of photonics test equipment. Like spectrometers and stuff like that. So I’m somewhat qualified to make these assessments. I’ve disassembled all the lights I purchased, and I’m still impressed with the Nebo rebel. Build quality and attention to detail is top notch.
so on the note of olight, olight has flash sales all the time usually discounting lights 20-50% or giving two for the price of one ( these usually happen around holidays but can also randomly pop up ) so if your looking to get one wait for one of the sales
Heck yeah man, Streamlight and Surefire is all I use. My Streamlight looks like it's been through combat and still runs like a champ. I'll take a super reliable light over the brightest any day.. or night. lol
I happen to have a pretty decent Olight collection in case you guys want to test out more olights. I have at least 6 or 7 different models ranging from the i1R to the x7 Marauder
Another great video. I use several lights but really like my Gearwrench 500lm folding worklight. LED lights are quite amazing upgrade. Thanks for the effort and continued success.
Always love your videos. All of them. Would love to see you test a Streamlight Wedge. The form factor has made this light part of my every day. The switch is super simple. And it is bright. Really bright. Check out the specs.
The turbo mode on my SII R2 is activated just by double tapping the power button. You also don't normally need to lock it unless you're really worried about accidentally turning it on which rarely happens in my experience.
Can confirm that the Olight drops the turbo mode quickly because of heat. It set my EDC bookbag on fire last year when the magnet switch actually got hit and it started cooking.
When you meassure the charge in mAh that's in 5V ish region mAh and you should actuallly only measure and pay attention to the Wh's put into the device. Then if you wish divide that mWh with 3.6V to get estimate of the battery capacity (minus charge logic losses)
Would like to see you test LED lenser torches, I've had a P14 for around 10 years. When I first got it I used it every night and, winter time, most mornings to walk my dogs, my wife also used it, and when I had to replace the batteries (10 months after getting it) I found the original lenser batteries in it! I had assumed my wife had been replacing them but no.
I'd love to see some Nebo models get the test. I've always found them to be a happy medium between cheap Amazon crap and higher end brands that offer more than I need. Thinking redline flex, slyde 2k, swyvel, torchy would all be good. Would love to know if they are as accurate with their lumens as Olight or Fenix.
I use a headlamp a lot when working on cars. They can be very useful in most sit. Would love to see a test on the Amazon brands. Me and my wife have two that are supposedly rated at 13,000 lumina. There pretty decent lights and are extremely bright. Only draw back is that the don’t stay charged long.
I would love to see the microstream by stream light tested in one of these videos. Every one I work with swears by it and I do also if I remember right it advertised 350 lumens.
FYI, that charger you used for the Olight is a Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0) protocol charger only (blame Google). Based on your video, the light appears to want a Quick Charge 2.0 (QC 2.0) protocol charger. They are related, but in this case incompatible, rapid charging protocols. I believe only QC3.0 or 4.0 is compatible with PD3.0 but not QC2.0. This is possibly why the charger only pulled
We tried our other 2 gizmo's as well which have previously supplied 2 amps no problem, and on all it only wanted 1A, that's a big shrug from us as to why, in the manual, the gold one states it can supply QC2.0 as well.
@@TorqueTestChannel The flashlight tells the charger what to provide, if the charger can't understand it provides 2.4A or less. The gizmo just reports and passes along what it receives, think of it as a man in the middle. Anyways no big deal, it was a great video!
This is great. Hope one day you can share some data on the big name (*streamlight*, olight, surefire, cloud defensive, etc.) weapon mountable lights for both long guns and hand guns. There are so many models with subtle differences that it gets overwhelming when comparing specs. I really don't want to pay the hefty prices attached for a weapon light that isn't as good as the company says it is. Anyway, thanks for the quality content (a rarity in its own right).

@@austinmatney7591 why waste money on AA or AAA batteries when you can just get a 18650 or 21700 cell
This is awesome!! Please do more of these!!
My favorite flashlight brands are Olight, Klarus, Sunnwayman, Nitecore, and JetBeam. Have had outstanding luck with these brands.
If you're going to test Olights, please test comparatively priced lights from Streamlight and/ or Surefire, Possibly Modlite. Also, you should test failure on Olights as they've been known to catastrophically fail.
OLight - reigning world champ for most confirmed kills from a flashlight.
Good content! Lots of numbers and facts, quick presentation with a little snark here and there 🙂. Well filmed and edited too. New sub.
Great video. Btw with Olight you can just double click to enter turbo mode from any other state. Holding the button is only required for moonlight mode.
Yup
I have an Olight that has the 90 degree head and a magnet on the bottom. It also has a head band. For fixing stuff, it work great, and is similar to the one you tested. The diffuser lens works the best if you're working on something. I've found most mechanical work needs around 100-150 lumens. Otherwise the light creates too much glare.
I love this. Please do more light videos. I love flashlights and work lights and head lamps. Please tests them all. I’ll watch every one of them
Awesome stuff. Do you think you could test a phone light to provide some context for lumen counts?
haha that is a good idea, get everyone's phone who works for them to put their phone on the chamber, no need to spend any money just a little bit of time, since a 1000$+ flashlight should get you a little more than ~300 lumens :D but it would be very cool to see if any of these brands are better than just holding your phone while doing some work
Ive been using a cheap 18650 flashlight for years.
Great video. Really messed up that manufactures outright lie about their products and never get held accountable for it.
Man after binge watching a few vids I have to say BRAVO definitely deserves a sub
Please test headlamps before deer season!
Yes please! Great idea!!
I loved the technical info.. and seeing the rate at which the lumens drop off was new to me.
Awesome video, thank you.
Energizer HD vision rechargeable 400 lumen was the headlamp I was going to order..

And the only reason I know either of those is cuz of Spyderco.
great video you guys. love the channel evolving :)
This was a very enlightening test. Keep up the great work!
I am glad you are doing flashlights. I want to see my long time favorite Stream Light Protac 2L with 2 CR123 batteries.
You should look at some modern flashlights like Olight or Fenix flashlights, They also use much better batteries
I love olight. I use there pl pro on duty and it is a life saver.
I have a few olights. Not sure if it's been said. You don't have to cycle through the other modes. Just double click from off to go into turbo
Streamlight Stinger/strion next? It's all we use in the shop basically.
Heck yeah man, Streamlight and Surefire is all I use. My Streamlight looks like it's been through combat and still runs like a champ. I'll take a super reliable light over the brightest any day.. or night. lol
@@countryboy44555 Same. my Strion looks like hell, but never fails me
6:44 thanks for the shout out.
It would be nice to see some higher end lights tested. I.e. fenix, stream light, surefire, modlite , etc.
Illuminating episode.
Thoroughly done! Loved the light graph. Subscribed..
I'm pretty happy with my HF stick light for the money as a DIYer.
Regarding the Olight:
Double-Click will activate Turbo at any time - regardless of the previous setting and even if the light was off!
I happen to have a pretty decent Olight collection in case you guys want to test out more olights. I have at least 6 or 7 different models ranging from the i1R to the x7 Marauder
I like these light tests. I didn't know that I wanted an olight until this video.
Love all these tests
Keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Another great video.
Lumintop FW3A - fits in palm. 2800 lumens. $35. Can’t beat that. Emisar D4v2 4300 Lumens $45. Noctigon KR1 pocket thrower. $50. Astrolux FT03 thrower $35. These lights are amazing for the price. Much better than olight.
Your a channel I like before I finish watching. I just know I'll like it
YESSSS. I LOOOOVE FLASHLIGHTS! Wooooooooo! Thank you very much TTC! 🙏
Nice testing boys! This is Project Farm level. GREAT JOB!
I can’t believe how much time you put into all the graphs. I enjoy watching all the vids.
20:10 also I love the pointer your using. It’s a looker for sure.
Super interested to watch future light tests. So many very expensive Scuba and MTB light claim crazy high numbers.
Nice tests. I wish all governing agencies would put a stop to false claims. Forbid sale until they are labeled correctly
Great video, very thorough, as always. Thank you!
When you meassure the charge in mAh that's in 5V ish region mAh and you should actuallly only measure and pay attention to the Wh's put into the device. Then if you wish divide that mWh with 3.6V to get estimate of the battery capacity (minus charge logic losses)
Great tests! As a mechanic, I don't like anything over 200lm as it reflects off and blinds me lol.
Thumbs up for the Eric O reference!
I really doubt they are 13 000 lumen as the light would be really heavy and big at that output level
@@reahs4815 I have always had doubts on that too. But they are at least the brightest headlamps we have ever seen.
Interezting comparisons, thank you
I would love to see the microstream by stream light tested in one of these videos.
Great content, please keep up also with other test than Torque/Drill.
Subscribed!
''high torque'' flashlights loving the content !!
