But the thing is, the old seasons weren’t only great for the jokes. They had great storytelling, interesting characters, fun plots, and were more grounded. Instead of throwing in annoying weird facial expressions every 30 seconds, and having these weird songs playing in the background that have been reused for 10 seasons now, just make a more grounded show and make better background music. Ambient, relaxing noise, grounded and realistic characters. Good jokes are just a bonus at this point. Can’t they just emulate what season 1-3 did so well? They have the blueprints right in front of them.

The nostalgia bait isn’t bad by any means… it’s just another example as to what I don’t like Vincent Waller’s run of SpongeBob. He stated that SpongeBob has no continuity, yet he frequently makes callbacks to old episodes as well as retconning things, which goes against the callbacks. It’s more like Vincent, doesn’t have consistency when it comes to SpongeBob. At least with Paul Tibbit’s run on the show, there were plenty of consistencies.

Mr. Puff is either Mrs. Puff's husband or one of his direct male ancestors. Puff is Mrs. Puff's husband's name. I don't think we knoe Mrs. Puff's maiden name.

I sure that's why a lot of people are complaining
@@bibrixi Yes, I just see it like this. The writing, jokes, plots would be trash anyway, and without the references there would be 0 aspects I like about modern spongebob. Sad what happened to that show lol but it is what it is.
Spongar And Patar are completely different characters in the episode Ugh while the ancestral version shown back in SB-129 is Primitive Sponge and Primitive Star
This episodes makes the nuclear theory more plausible. The main flaw of this theory is that we see the characters way before nuclear bombs even existed. But now we see how an anchor suddenly apears in what is supposed to be prehistory. I think their prehistory is happening right after the nuclear tests and would explain the anchor. The reason they're so developed now when only 40-60 years passed is because maybe time is diffrent here. Think about how 1 human day is 7 dog days. Maybe something similar is happening here
The sad thing is that this premise isn't even bad. If you want to make an anniversary episode with lots of callbacks, the history museum seems like a natural fit for that. If they hadn't forgotten to put actual jokes in there and make the references make sense in the story (and also if they hadn't made a whole season full of references without context), it could have been really nice.
I saw a bit of Rock, Paper, Scissors! on TV when I was at camp, and let me tell you, the show is awful. All the plots could easily be done in the Loud House and the generic calarts art-style is horrible (it's bright, bland, and they even once used an inanimate PNG of a Dodo, which makes it look way more lazy and lifeless than if it were hand drawn). Look, I know mixing art styles is a cool idea, but in this show it seems to be done more out of laziness than creativity, and there's no freaking way a billion dollar company would greenlit a show that looks this bland. Even as an 8 year old I put more effort into my drawings.

ITS A SPECIAL YOU GOT TO BE DUMB you're so nostlgia blinded that you'll think Grandmas kisses is good that's how blinded you are you should really look in the Spongebob wiki of the episode research it up then prove me wrong.
Tbh no matter how stupid these nostalgia episodes are, What I really wanna see is a band geeks sequel. Then the show can die
Watch Hello! Bikini Bottom, there is your sequel.
Don't give them ideas, they'll ruin it too. They'll probably put feet in the episode and Squidward will DEFINITELY not succeed.
Seriously with the modern writing? You would actually want that. The nostalgia wouldn’t even be worth the bad episode.
You do realize it would be absolute trash, right? The modern spongebob writing is so bad it would ruin the original episode
@@_Doctor_14 That is true. Knowing them they'd probably turn it into a Squidward torture episode
I actually kind of liked this episode. I thought the references to Ugh and SB-129 were well done and not too forced.
It’s in my top 5 of the season even though I didn’t like it very much. I agree about the references for the most part making more sense than some of the other recent ones
Isnt the cowboy scene is reference too?
@@awespongebobThe least bad season 14 episode so far is BassWard IMO. There are a couple jokes that are actually funny like the window gag on the train, but it kinda starts to run its course once they reach the hotel.
@@koko_sponge Oh yes, it did take some influence from Pest of the West. I thought that reference was done quite well also.
I think the milk might've been a reference to Have You Seen This Snail? when Patrick ate that curdled milk. Looks similar to the milk from that episode
Bro they need to study old episodes of Spongebob and just take time to see what made them episodes the best
The worst part is that so many fans have studied it. Just type something like: "What made old SpongeBob so great", and you'll see over 10 videos talking about everything that made the old seasons so peak. The writers are the only ones who haven't noticed yet.
Spongebob is doing nostalgia cutaways now? What is this family guy?
Even Sandy's starting to sound old now 😭
Because her voice actress is getting older
Mr. Puff is either Mrs. Puff's husband or one of his direct male ancestors.
Puff is Mrs. Puff's husband's name. I don't think we knoe Mrs. Puff's maiden name.

Thats not how these rocks work?? They work like cars and not like horses if im not mistaken.
Exactly, the original rock in Pizza Delivery was solid and stable. This rock doesn't even feel like a heavy rock.
I swear the modern writers actually don't know anything about Spongebob, Bikini Bottom or its characters.
ts funny af “what was that line” “did they forget to put the joke in” 😂😂
I like ugh as SB-129 and even ugh has better jokes than hysterical history
Honestly idk why everyone is complaining about the nostalgia aspect, it's literally the ONLY thing I like and appreciate in modern spongebob.
I think bringing back old references is great, but its literally to a point where its the only thing that's being put into the episode. There is genuinely little to no effort put into the jokes, writing, or even the plot of the episode because apparently nostalgia makes up for all of that. I sure that's why a lot of people are complaining
@@bibrixi Yes, I just see it like this. The writing, jokes, plots would be trash anyway, and without the references there would be 0 aspects I like about modern spongebob. Sad what happened to that show lol but it is what it is.
Anyone else think that sandy looks shorter?
Spongar And Patar are completely different characters in the episode Ugh while the ancestral version shown back in SB-129 is Primitive Sponge and Primitive Star
Caveman Spongebob meme is back
Nah the biggest nostalgia bait episode is Friendiversary.
Idk why but the Hoops/Old Man Walker villain part reminds me of the unused ending to The Nightmare Before Christmas
Maybe something similar is happening here
Erosion is a reference to when Squidward reads science digest and laughs at it. (Also did you just say you didnt know what erosion was)
I think Mr.Puff is Mrs.Puff’s father-in-law or something.
Off topic but SpongeBob just sounds so tired. I think Tom Kenny has really strained his voice over the years.
Bit of a correction: SpongeGar and Patar are from Ugh, the SB-129 Spongebob and Patrick are just called Primitive Sponge and Primitive Star
Yeah this episode was bad but has a nice callbacks to some previous ones.
I actually cried when i saw Kevin in modern spongebob
I mean, what else would you expect from the same network that would unironically put out a show centered around fucking rock, paper and scissors?
I saw a bit of Rock, Paper, Scissors! on TV when I was at camp, and let me tell you, the show is awful. All the plots could easily be done in the Loud House and the generic calarts art-style is horrible (it's bright, bland, and they even once used an inanimate PNG of a Dodo, which makes it look way more lazy and lifeless than if it were hand drawn). Look, I know mixing art styles is a cool idea, but in this show it seems to be done more out of laziness than creativity, and there's no freaking way a billion dollar company would greenlit a show that looks this bland. Even as an 8 year old I put more effort into my drawings.
season 3 episode 14, (ugh) is my favorite comfort episode.
