    I build aerial adventure parks for work and find these pants to be durable and well suited for rope access. I've got a large portion of our staff on board and would love to send a picture in with all of us in our keb trousers sky high! I just recieved my second pair, and cant wait to put them through the wringer! Improvements we've discussed would be an integrated tensioner for the waist band to limit bulk and harness wear. I've also noticed the elastic band on the phone slit likes to break away from the mesh pretty quickly with regular use. Small adjustments, but nothing to prevent us from representing your awesome trousers! Keep up the good work 👍

      Hey! That sounds awesome, I don’t work for fjällräven but if you send me the photo I’ll be sure to pass it on, I think they would be delighted to have it!

      @@TedWeirum awesome! We are currently building a challenge course in the trees. We will try to get all of us on ropes near one of the tree houses or a cool element. It may be a week or so. Were pretty busy right now. Thanks for the reply buddy :)

    Those visuals... wow... the colors are popping right of my screen!
    I really like the Keb-line of products. The trousers might be a bit more technical so to speak than I need. Not sure.
    Something about the fact you were able to do an early review makes me think you’re in closer contact with Fjallraven...perhaps maybe? If so it would be deservedly so!
    Have a fun 2019!!

      Thanks Jan! Perhaps maybe would be the right words for the moment, I’ll let you know more when I know more!
      When it comes to the trousers it all boils down to what your use case is,if you’re doing a rougher trek these are perfect, hanging around the camp I would have a look at vidda pro! As always, thanks for REALLY watching the video and noticing all the details that we work a lot on! :)

    Whoa whoa whoa Mr. Weirum! Do you realize how much of the production quality boost this video shows? You are setting some high standards for yourself and Arber. :-) As for the pants I like the fact they decided to make them slimmer. I will definitely benefit from that if I buy them. :-D The color looks really nice in your shots. I've seen it on their other pieces of clothes and it looked a bit too flashy at first sight but I am sure I would like it in the end. And of course I am looking forward to your future adventures!

      Hahaha, well that’s a big thanks from me to you, you are the one who gave me a lot of the feedback that I put in to the thought process behind this video, THANKS! As for me and Abbe we came a long way but it still feels like we’re just in the beginning, we talked a lot about this and right now it feels like we’re discovering our “sound”. Best thing is that I still learn and develop a lot and I get to share the results with you guys! Thanks for all your observations Michal!

    Your videos keep getting better Ted. Awesome stuff. I bought a pair of Tarmac Kebs over the holidays and love them except that my short legs mean they are a bit baggy, and by a bit I mean substantially. I actually just got the cinch portion moved up about an inch at the Fjallraven store and they're on their way to me now, but they are still a bit long. Never have I been more jealous of people with long legs than I have been when lusting after Fjallraven pants!! Thanks again for the info Ted and I look forward to more videos from you.

    I got these a while ago ( had to wait since there was an error in production and they had to send their inventory back to Vietnam for restitching) that aside I love them. I have them in the forest green colour, and I have the keb jacket in the same colour. The fit is amazing in my oponion. You won't sweat your butt of using them during this season either. Great overall product and well worth the spend.

    All of their trousers could do with a 'short' option such as a 30'' or 32'' leg.

      Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of comments about that, I think they should look into it! Thanks for your comment!

    • @Sebjg92
      @Sebjg92 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yes please! I'm 170cm and always have to buy trouseres that are way to long for me. The best fit is the womens Keb but then again this one is to short in the inseam. 29-30 or 30-30 would be perfect. I work at a sports store selling a lot of Keb trousers and other brands and more often than you think there are shorter guys that would love a shorter model to choose.

      yea i totally agree, i got 2 KEBs and some vidda pros they are both pretty long and im 6 ft. also would like if they can slim down just a tad bit. the butt looks great in these and if they were just a little tailored at the bottom it be a amazing asethic pair of pants for me to wait in line at starbucks while looking like i hike routinely. but overall great pants, love the 2 tone color scheme making who ever wearing these look operator af.

    I love your videos. Makes me want to drop everything and hike for a few months. Absolutely love the outdoors and the style of your editing and everything is very much that. I was wondering, what do you usually take with you when hiking? Like, what is your load out when going on longer hikes? I'm curious cause I'm going on a two week hike in Norway during the summer and am starting to prepare. Again, love your videos and I can see you getting successful off of these videos!

    Great video as always. I just would like some mesh on the side vents as it gives the bugs a way in to my tasty legs on a hot day. Apart from that i love my kebs and Vidda Pros

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks! I get what you mean, however I think it would limit the ventilation too much. As long as you’re moving you give the bugs a hard time to feast on your legs, when you stop you zip up and pull out your flamethrower and go to town! ;)

    • @futurebliss
      @futurebliss 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TedWeirum I agree. I'd prefer keeping them without bug nets, for more ventilation, better access (I'm experimenting with Northern Playgrounds' zip-longs underneath, which could've been an awesome combo, had they just included double zippers), less weight, less complexity, smaller price.

  • @deathcheatersguild4266

    Yes, FR 🦊 needs to use military grade Double Saps at the waist for better secure hold especially if one fails, just like the 2 waistline snaps on the amazing Arc’teryx LEAF Drac Pant that were unfortunately discontinued. Why Arc’teryx does not make quality hiking pants 👖 with ample pockets is beyond me 🤷🏻‍♂️. A stretchy Neoprene waist band would be a nice addition. And a large Gusseted Crotch is mandatory for mobility 🥋 and comfort!

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thought! Thanks for your comment!

    • @deathcheatersguild4266
      @deathcheatersguild4266 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TedWeirum , As a full on Arc'teryx fan, surprisingly enough ARC' do not make a true Adventure Pant with a significant amount of pockets and never have, which is quite astounding 🤯. The only thing that's ever come close is the amazing LEAF Drac Pant 👍🏻, unfortunately they have been discontinued 😤. I've been doing some research on the Fjällräven Keb Pants, the new 2019 updated fitment looks like it's going to be really cool. Big props 👏🏻 to Ted Weirum new video review. That sealed the deal for me. A gusseted crotch and a bunch of pockets is mandatory in a proper Adventure Pant! Now I just have to figure out how the new ones fit in the waist. 37" = Euro 54, or size up? I typically wear U.S. Large, I'm a 36" waist in Diesel Jeans, but everything has become so overly slim-fit today such as NIKE's Tech Fit Joggers, so now I've been sizing up one full waist size to a U.S. XL. I DON'T like apparel tight around my crotch and waist, I need some room to breathe if you know what I mean.

    Hey Ted; The Keb system totally rules. I do some mushing north of the arctic circle; and like the stretchiness and breathability of the keb system. and use the jacket all seasons, and in winter. But the pants dont really work for me in the winter. What would really rock would be if Fjällräven could clone the Keb-pants and the Särmä TST M05 high waisted winter trousers; into a stretchy winter pants setup. And a Keb anorak no. 8 would be awesome to. Just a thought Thanks in advance

    Great vids! My only question is have they figured out a way to work out the pant lengths when it comes to shorter people (i.e. < 5'8"ish). Everything in the Fjallraven line fits perfectly on me, but the trousers are really hard to judge. These pants seem like they come in a fixed length (not raw) so hemming them will be a problem with the re-design of the boot hook and straps. Also, if someone can manage to hem them, the placement of the knees will inevitably be at the ankles. This seems to be the main issue with any Fjallraven, fixed, pre-bent pants. I feel like shorter people are left with (1) Greenland and (2) Abisko lines. The Kebs, although functionally the best, appear to be (size-wize) the hardest to get right. I wonder if anyone from R&D has an answer! :)

    I bought a pair, after less than 40 days mountain wear both bottom seams have holes in them. In my opinion tje bottom of the trousers are too heavy for the normal material, not worn crampons with them or done anything apart from normal Trekking. I am in my 50s and have never had a pair of trousers fail so quickly. Sent away 18th December still waiting for any reply from Fjall Raven a month later. So far poor quality for what they are and the price charged.

    I just wish they would put some kind of butt pockets on the back and zippers on the front hand pockets similar to the Abisko trousers. Except the pocket should zip down from the top instead of up. That way you can have them zipped down to secure items and still have your pocket knife or multi tool clipped on.

      @@TedWeirum Butt pockets. Please no. It already has big, awesome pockets in the right places. Butt pockets risk the content (easier to crush when sitting, easier to loose something and not see it before it's long gone, easier for thieves), are uncomfortable, and would add weight, complexity, cost, and take away from ventilation.

    Here is what I think about Keb trousers. They do not shrink except for the g1000 portion. A Vita Pro (is completely g1000) that is a 54 for example will shrink 1/2 a size becoming a 53 after washed in warm. Additionally you have to be accurate in your Keb size because if you lose weight, the material on the front will crease and look bad, not also true with Vita Pro. Overall Keb is the best looking and most stretchable trouser as long as it fits correctly. I have Vita Pro's that are 7 years old and still good. The colors are amazing but ofcourse the most recent fashion is camouflage lead by Canada Goose.

    2. That is a bad idea 1:03 - Boot hook is better the old way. It will never come loose by mistake and is much easier to fasten and unfasten.

I understand that you can use G-1000 pants at winter and apply wax for greater insulation and waterproofness, but can you use them as well on the other, and hotter seasons? I have the current version, which will last me another decade. So I am not interested in upgrading to this version. Unless maybe there are plans for a gaiter zip off version? These are perfect for the colder 3 season use, but not ideal for the summer.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would also be interested in a gaiter version, I hope that they can expand the “hole” where you zip them off, I find it a bit small when I sit down, thanks for watching!

    Hi Ted. Please can you do a review for the Keb TOURING trousers? Will they be an overkill for hiking the Laugavegur Trail in Iceland in July? Or will it be too warm? Why should I choose them over the standard Kebs?? Thanks

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say that they will probably be too warm if you intend to move around a lot. it's better to use layers underneath or over if you will be in a colder situation :)

      Thanks Mattias! We were out on a somewhat chilly day, Abbe had his long johns on but I decided to go without and it was just fine, they hold the warmth good, my biggest concern is actually the other way around, letting the extra heat out and there I think they do a great job!

      Ted Weirum Yes i understand your concern, just wondering if these pants are somewhat all season or 3-season. Are these available in stores right now? I'm going to Gbg tomorrow so it could be an idea to have a closer look at them.

    • @TedWeirum

    I'd suggest some sort of mosquito mesh in the vents like most trekking pants with vent options.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a lot of people would like a solution like that, I don’t know though, wouldn’t it get stuck and also reduce ventilation a lot?

    • @d1rtbag35
      @d1rtbag35 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I met a couple wearing the "tru spec 24/7 expedition pants" and asked them those exact questions, as I was also concerned. I was told they vent very well and the zipper never snags on the mesh (and they also never got bitten). Of course they didn't let me try them on, so I'll have to take their word for it.
      Myself, I seem to have a particularly bad response to the enzymes and/or proteins in a mosquito bite, so a slight decrease in ventilation or ease of opening/closure is personally a sacrifice I would make in order to reduce my dependence on deet.
