There's no such thing as a junk pile on a farm, it's just a pile of stuff waiting for a job.
I've seen tyres used to stand a grain or water bucket in to stop stock knocking them over, I've seen car tyres used as swing seats called tired horse, but that's the first time I've seen a tired trough.
Love your ideas for a drain away, that's when you find the ROUNDTOIT. Or are you saving it for Ron. LaterRon. Thanks for posting got me smiling and reminding me of my uncles farm, he ploughed with horses, up in N.Wales, UK.
If only there was a place to get a rubber mat to put down on that soft spot by the drinking water tank. 😂
Try tractor supply🤑🤒
Now that is some good old farmer ingenuity. Doesn’t get any better than that. Great job.
thanks for showing the finished mineral feeder and thanks for the content in general
Farmer Fix. A bunch of used stuff and some wire and it is done. Nice job
I grew up on a farm in OHIO and watched these types of repairs daily, stuip half-assed repairs that worked, Sir you are a 100% American Farmer, but Dad and Grandpa would have cleaned out the bottom of the tank and let the water flow until it cleared up, there just cows, but they would like clean water for a while P.S. Sir I believe it was your son mentioning selling Jerky, I've wanted to try some good hand made beef Jerky from American Farmers, the price is always reasonable, BUT the cost of shipping dashes all of those hopes when you pay half as much as the product
Man I need a telehandler just for digging out beaverdams up here. That telescoping boom is handy.
Great video Matt!! Man I love watching your projects and you got cows that you don't even know! I remember when you tried getting some cow's to adopt some calves and they didn't want em, probably knew their mom's! Haha! Man it would be fun to tag along with you all day!
The tire watering systems we use have the inlet and outlet running up thru the center of the tire . The outlet discharges away from the tire as far as you like or to another tire. Eliminates float. Also helps with freeze ups depending on where you are.
Yeah... use a stand pipe.... it's a lot simpler.
Would have been a good time to dig all the crap out of the tank.
Why didn’t you clean out the water tank when it was empty? Aren’t cows going to drink out of it? Excellent work reusing old supplies to McIver
Forgot my shovel 😂
Cow drink out of ponds, creeks or rivers all the time that don’t get cleaned up for the cows to drink out of. 🤷♀️
He could have brought a gas trimmer to clean up the brush around the tank to make it easier to install the new floats and piping. Again… 🤷♀️
I flushed a line last spring by blowing air and letting it run. I put in a T to have a good air connection. I also had my 500-gallon tank, which had about 150 gallons of mud. That was a fun week.
A year later, and all is great! I put in an air needle and allowed the water to spray up all winter. It just made a bunch of ice.
Being out on the left side of the country you get used to knowing where you are by what mountains you can see. Every time I'm in the Midwest I always feel like I'm lost with nothing on the edge of the valley to tell me what direction I'm looking. At least the sun is still always generally south of me.
Watching this wishing I was there to help you!
That beef jerky sounds delicious
Even though it's "wagyu," not "wagu," lol. It's a very interesting Americanization, honestly.
Greetings from a crop farmer in North Dakota.
I cannot believe the color of that dirt ! And how lucky (?) you are to have been able to put those pipes in without hitting rock !
How would you like to be made to drink water out of an old tire?
!
Turned out great!
Hey thanks for commenting I have been watching you for awhile now. Give me a shout out I’ll do the same.. if you get to South Dakota your always welcome 👍
Great job Matt
That is a nice tractor man!
Great video...used your brain, your brawn and whatever you had in "inventory"........I enjoyed watching!
I once owned a cow who played the harmonica on Tuesdays as Tom went to town the buy beans but Bentley backed Bunyan because Benny beat Bob back before Beatriz believed Benny bycivoristed both Bob and Ben.
I wanted to see the spring it self
Great video Matt
That was another awesome video Matty you done a great job on that water tank but a couple of cattle maths around it and it would be perfect Theirs a fella named Dane that dose awesome cattle maths Link in description 😂😂
Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
water tank.... You mean tire? That has got to be leaching chems into the water. Whatever is drinking that is also getting a good dose of them. Why do this?
Difference between a good engineer and a brilliant engineer
Good engineer does a great job for $2k
A brilliant engineer does the same job for zero $ Simples 🤷♂️🤷♂️
👍👍
I disagree with the "satisfying" assertion in the title. Having said that, I do believe you did some excellent work and got a whole heck of a lot of it done in very little time.
Using Wagyu Beef to make jerky is like using Northern Bluefin Tuna to make cat food. What a waste.
Definitely want to try some of that beef jerky my friend
Stay tuned
Nicely done 👍
Does the spring ever dry up?
Is it good potable water that can be used for yourself?
Nice work! Handy as a shirt pocket.
as my da used to say close enough for government work
And then when it came to what something looked like he would say we arnt working on Miss May/s setten' room.
If it works good enough was another.
Im a farm buy from Australia, Ive never seen anything as bad as that. Whats wrong with a long trough and a auto shut off valve and float.
Those dogs shouldn’t be walking around that Rusty metal
By gloiy you did a pretty awesome job with 1 leg shorter than the other 😂
"configure-out" like it, short-hand saying for figuring out a configuration.
Why didn’t you scoop out all that crude at the bottom of the tank? Great work brother! I want a farm one day.
You gone mess around and get good as Cole one day.😮😊😂😂😂
I subscribed to your channel today because I enjoyed your content. I follow several other farms/ranches but most are in the Northeast. I’m from Miami Florida but I’ve retired to Panama City Florida, USA. I don’t know where you’re located but I assume you’re in the West somewhere. I will look at your home page and possibly see where you are.
I did find out you’re in South Dakota, been there several times and you have the best State Park in the United States. Custer State Park, it’s magnificent.
Why didn't you clean the s*** out of the tank before you put water in it
I too would have had to tell myself to move the tools so I wouldn’t have to crawl back in also 😂
All he really needed to do was just hook the overflow pipe into the tank. No float or valve needed for that.
I think you either need to sharpen your hand saw or buy a new one, that looked very dull sir
Very interesting video Thank you 😊 🙏
why not funnel them in next to the overflow pipe so they waller out a permanent tank
Awesome looking Matt’s Dane
10/58 WHY DROP OFF CUTS OF WIRE ON THE GROUND AND I,N THE GRASS / BAD NEWS FOR CATTLE. CHEERS
Good eye what was edited out was me throwing scraps down the pipes I just pushed . I have lost cows to hardware’s before 👍
Oi 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What? You didn't bring some food with you! Less time wasted is more time being productive!
have you ever heard of rube goldberg
I had a friend that I worked with in a mill. He was a farmer. Cattle and hay farmer. He could build some of the most creative things to solve problems. Went to his farm and if it wasn’t for baling wire or twine and scrap wood or metal, nothing would be standing. 😄
NICE
So ya were clearing the spring the other dayyyy. Just thought he sounded a bit like Wayne from Letterkenny.
I would bury at least 60 foot of 4 inch sewer and drain plastic pipe to take care of the overflow from the spring. Water will seek its own level. You have a nice extendable loader perfect to did a shallow ditch with.
Son you need a woman to help you I was always out helping my husband do this stuff
A man with a farm can't trust a woman that isn't the mother of his children not to screw his kids over when he dies. Heck and half of the ones who are mother of your kids will too
Hey I'm new I don't have a clue what you're talking about youngster
I would love to get some Wagyu Jerky problem is I live in New Zealand.
You’re going to have to hire a ranch hand. Now that you lost Dane to Ms.Greasy Face.
Where are the chain saws
It will clog up again!
Can we just agree that American Wagyu isn't a real thing?
Ok sodak Wagyu 👌 cross?!??😂😂😂
Why dont you just shut of the water with the float ... no overflow ... then when the cows come to drink youll have some head pressure built up in the well and more gpm when the cows are all there at the same time
yes please JERKY
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
I don't think you need the overflow. Let the float shut it off an eliminate the mudd. Nice video
Good ole spring water.. Nothing like it. We have 2 artesian wells. Blessed with water.
You can put charcoal in the water. Keeps the water clean and is beneficial for the cows.
Harvesting spring water to fill up a livestock tank is revolutionary.
Awesome 😎
Very ingenious! What is the bottom of the tank made of and how is it sealed?
We're in the midst of building a mini hydro electric power plant to feed into our solar fed power system. Love your channel.
@@EjwiiiMoviesLowvilleNY nice good luck 👍
Try putting a gold fish in there and see if it’ll clean up the water trough
What is the brand of solar power electric unit you use
Love how you fix everything with spare parts! You are so creative
great video it amazes me how u get a lot done with very little supplies
Looks like the kind things I have to do to keep my father's cattle station running in Australia. Very innovative, using what you have. More power to you!
Thanks mate!
Not gunna lie, going to start using “comfigurout”😂
Haha! I was just wondering about that!
Just out of curoisity, specifically where in the coteau are you. I was raised in Hecla and my family had a cabin on Roy Lake.
Right on the hillhead road 👍
Looks like you need a DF cattle Matt
cover that overflow up with a matt
Looks all too familiar 😬😆👍
Nice wild pot field
Jack of All Trades !!!
Nice Video and Nice Place.
Good spring brother
Why have the overflow, just let the ball cock turn your spring off, as the trough level drops it will drop and fill again, or is there a reason you need an overflow, seems to me you’re wasting water
You don't know what a spring is??? It's free flowing water that comes up out of the ground naturally. You don't turn them off. Lots of them in my area.
@@stevewilson1388 mate it’s been blocked off for fucking months, hence he had to unblock the poly pipe, so just letting the ball cock stop the water running won’t make any difference
Google how to tie a cob and Co knot, they are as strong as a weld, for tying wire
Thanks will check it out
Please reconsider using this due to the possibility of chemicals from the tire leaching into the water, especially when exposed to heat and sunlight 😬 Exposed steel wire used in the tires construction if ingested, can lead to the potentially fatal hardware disease. The wire can also cut or poke the cattle.
Can this tank water the whole herd out on the pasture?
No there is a flowing creek 👍
Thanks
Thanks 😊
You fix things like I do 😂😂
Ya thanks been watching your videos also👍thanks
@@Ranchingsodak I will have to come visit next time I’m up in SD, how far are you from Mitchell?
@@Therippranch 200 miles north of Mitchell 👍
Talk about jury rigging! You are the winner.
That tire will cause a lot of internal damage to animals drinking out of it.
Love your videos! Originally from Dimock SD! You got an email address
In my description. thanks for watching!
