Black is hard to paint, and even if you painted it using now it still read as black, so do not worry what other might say, these black Templar look fantastic for the time invested! Congrats! 😁 I'm sure your client loved your minis!
Really simple for it, a little cork tear it up, then slap a brown texture paste over the top. Then I used some light brown pigment powder and applied it all over the base and legs! Some of my ork videos show how to get the same base!
Should be able to yes! I would get your black prime to begin and then do a dusting of a darker blue rather than a fenrisian grey equivalent. If you spray it through a can you should get the same result. Or on the flip side you could definitely use a dry brush to achieve this, if you’re interested I released a video a few weeks back “How to Paint your first miniature” that shows how to get the same black armor with drybrush and no airbrush!

I get the critique the bluish hue isn’t for everybody. That was his request so he liked it! He had given me a couple of models he had done to try and match off of, and it happened to match my preferred way of doing black armor.
