That was pre edwards really ascending pre peak salley pre peak rodman and pre peak dumars and aguirre wasn't on the team...dantley was a shiv on d that playoffs
Worthy’s basketball talents are only surpassed by his humbleness. He was one of the very best college players I ever saw. Watch the TH-cam video of Tarheels against Georgetown in 1982 championship game. Worthy scored 27 points (in an era with no 3 point shot and against Patrick Ewing).
As great as Worthy was in the pros, I remember him most for his NCAA tournament performance when NC won the championship over Georgetown. Everyone remembers Jordan's shot, but it was Worthy who got 'em there. He went through that tourney like a buzzsaw. Bird had a similiar tourney run. As did Johnny Dawkins and Andre Miller.
Not even 3 minutes in, and already a Jordan question 🥴 come on Dan, this is a top 75 all-time player in one of the greatest small forwards in the history of the NBA. Is it really freakin necessary to bring Jordan into the conversation?
It is ridiculous. He once interviewed Byron scott, fresh off of coaching the lakers. Dude played with showtime. Coached Kobe, Chris Paul, Kyrie and played with Kareem, magic, and worthy. Why did the entire interview consist of Jordan questions?
A "Hot take" I've had for about the last 7-8 years or so is that Big Game James is TOp 30 all-time and very few have argued or disagreed with that. The man had game, no doubt about it!
Every player from that era gets questioned about Jordan and Bird. Every single one. And he leads them into saying how much better they were. Like they must bow before Jordan and Bird. 🙄
As a Wolfpack guy, I’ve tried to big a Worthy hater, but seriously, how could I? That Carolina team, given 4 or 5 years to season in the NBA, could have beaten a goodly percentage of the teams then in the Association.
He said it was tough in the West in the 80s trying to get by Utah, San Antonio, and Houston. LMAO. Whatever, James. The Lakers had a cakewalk to the Finals every year while Boston and Philly had an absolute gauntlet to get to the Finals in the East.
Are you kidding me? Houston in ‘86, Dallas with Aguire and Harper, Utah with Stockton and Malone, Portland with Drexler and Porter, Denver with Alex English, Seattle with Ellis and Chambers… just to name a few… not exactly a cakewalk
2:54 - Not the first time Big Game has been on the show....and yet, asking him the same questions you've asked in the past? Why? Strive to be different Dan
James. As a Laker fan since the 70's, I love you, but you cost us the 84 championship. Man, I miss those days. If you lived in LA or Boston in the 80's, there was a tremendous vibe going on throughout the cities at the time.
Of course joker is best my god how they want Luka to be...but sorry not sorry... Jokić for 4 years is, and he will be BEST IN THE WORLD for years to come....❤🎉 James Worthy know ball fs!!!
I hate the Cowboys, Lakers, and Pistons!! Having said that Worthy, Ackman, Irving and Joe Dumars are fantastic post careers with commentary and interviews!
Big Game James Worthy 💜💛💜💛
I've not heard "Big Game" much... great interviewie....sharp, honest, doesn't stutter, nor say I mean every sentence...👍👍👍😁
On the Lakers network before and after every game. But that’s here in LA on spectrum television which is the lakers channel
Im a long time Laker hater but I watch some Lakers network just to hear him speak.
This is why this is a great show. Great interview of a great player and person. James Worthy!
from about 1984-1989 you couldn't stop James Worthy
This is an incredible interview
36 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists in game 7 of the NBA Finals against one of the greatest defensive teams of all time. Legendary.
It helps he had magic kareem scott a.c. cooper around him
That was pre edwards really ascending pre peak salley pre peak rodman and pre peak dumars and aguirre wasn't on the team...dantley was a shiv on d that playoffs
Inflated stats
@@pfunk1992 Yeah, right with all those other hall of famers around him. If anything, it was the other way around.
@@razkable that was a Laker team with a ton of miles on them. If they has played a year earlier the Lakers would have crushed them
My favorite basketball player. Class act
What a great player, seems like a great person.
Unbelievable player.

My favorite. Worthy.
Great interview!
James IS worthy indeed !!! 🙂

He played with mj so
It is ridiculous. He once interviewed Byron scott, fresh off of coaching the lakers. Dude played with showtime. Coached Kobe, Chris Paul, Kyrie and played with Kareem, magic, and worthy. Why did the entire interview consist of Jordan questions?
...and James has been on the show before and basically answered the same questions
That was great !!
Awesome interview, just a normal conversation with 2 ppl
That are anything but. As a Cavs fan- I would've like to see how that played out!!!
Great interview. Get Laimbeer on the show!
Respect to Big Game.
Love listening to him
Underrated

The
Man who lived up to his nickname big game james.
Big Game ...... Good interview .

Lakers aren’t trying to win they’re just trying to cater to lebron. You can hear it in worthy’s voice he’s tired of it but can’t say it.
💯🤷

Damn, this guy knows his ball.

Damm. Big Game sounds really disappointed in this Lakers franchise as of recently. At least that’s what I’m getting from the tone of his voice.
Of course joker is best my god how they want Luka to be...but sorry not sorry... Jokić for 4 years is, and he will be BEST IN THE WORLD for years to come....❤🎉
James Worthy know ball fs!!!
@2:55 REALLY?!?! lakers legend. 3x nba champion. played with two of the 10 greatest players ever.
dan:"how awesome was michael jordan?!"
It will never change 😂😂
Played with 3 actually
MJ
Magic
Kareem
Typical Dan
He played with all 3
It's ALWAYS Jordan and Bird with every player from that era 🙄
#42🧏🏾♂️ *BIG GAME JAMES*
NO exaggeration❗😏
took 3 minutes to mention jordan loool
Kevin Mchale could never cover James in the paint, especially with his spin move. It was epic to watch!!!
James certainly couldn't cover McHale so there's that.
@@TruthHurts58 I saw both in the 80's and James was better in the Playoffs.
@@markbeavers5747 I saw them in the 80s myself and there wasn’t a player in the league that could stop McHale on the block.
@@TruthHurts58 he was good but the Lakers exposed his lack on defense in the Finals.
Dan only talks women’s bball when it involves CC
Worthy aint ever thought jordan was better than him
He has said 3 weeks after Jordan showed up many times. It is also highlighted in The Last Dance.
I hate the Cowboys, Lakers, and Pistons!! Having said that Worthy, Ackman, Irving and Joe Dumars are fantastic post careers with commentary and interviews!
Didn’t ask him about the two women before the game 😂
Was expecting an opinion on the Finals. Very disappointed.
didnt have enough time. had to get in those jordan questions though.
You look like sleepy joe in the Mercedes entro
Lebron wants his son on his team, but is going to blame the Lakers for why the team stinks during the season.
Gastonia
Tar Heels!!

Laimbeer was a dirty player.
He thrived on hurting others.
Bronny James is no nba player
