Steve is a rare combo of likeable and respectable. You cannot figure out what he did for a living by looking in his house, so his kids are not burdened by his success. Wow. If I were him, trust me, you'd know everything that I did in my career once entering the front door. He's a better man than me.
Steve Young is a treasure. "I don't want to burden my kids with that." It can't be easy being the kid of a famous person, and he gets that. Good for him.
Yeah, it’s gotta be tough living in a mansion, being set for life, not having to ever work, and your dad being worth $250,000,000. So tough, I’m sure you’d hate that. It’s always better to have it work for a living and worry about having enough money to afford things.
I've been lucky enough to meet Steve a few times and he is as advertised. So approachable and thoughtful. He's had a great career, but I'm more impressed with him as a person.
Lefthanded QBs in the past 30 years: Steve Young (1985-1999) Michael Vick (2001-2015) - Played for the Falcons, Eagles, and Jets Boomer Esiason (1984-1997) - Played for the Bengals, Jets, and Cardinals Todd Marinovich (1991-1993) - Brief career with the Raiders, though he falls just outside our 30-year window Mark Brunell (1994-2011) - Long career primarily with the Jaguars Chris Simms (2004-2009) - Played for the Buccaneers, Titans, and Broncos Tyler Palko (2010-2011) - Brief stint with the Chiefs Kellen Moore (2012-2015) - Backup QB for the Cowboys Tua Tagovailoa (2020-present)
As a lefty Steve is so right, no pun intended, you hear some coaches say why they hate lefty QBs. It’s because the whole offense has to get flipped, the verbiage has to get flipped as well, and the RT covers the blindside. Translation too many coaches are lazy. Oh and some WRs say the spiral goes the other way so it can be hard for them to track the ball.
Didn’t Steve get benched in that Philly game at Candlestick during the 94 SB season? They were getting manhandled by the Eagles and I think Siefert benched Young in the 4th quarter. Steve went ballistic on the sidelines.
Let’s not forget the benching during eagles game in 1994… too traumatic for his memory to remember it right away… i dont agree on Brock : it’s shanahan system that’s make him stay in the pocket. The guy is mobile and can throw on the run we’ve seen that last year His biggest limitation is his arm strength
I think most of these running qbs today wouldn't be able to do what they're doing if the rules were the same as they were in the 1990s. They would probably be able to run, but not nearly they way they do now. They'd be clobbered. 0-) e_bip
What a stupid graphic. No, Young was not a "3X SUPER BOWL CHAMPION." If you didn't play in the game, then you're as much of a "SUPER BOWL CHAMPION" as the locker room guy in charge of laundering the jock straps. Young won ONE Super Bowl.

Steve Young is fabulous 👌
Love Steve Young’s interviews, one of my favorite players of all time
Steve Young, the best analysis of the game of football--maybe life.

Steve Young is who Aaron Rodgers thinks he is: articulate, thoughtful, insightful.
I’d listen to Steve every day, kinda wish he was on every day!
This conversation was AMAZING! @Dan, thanks. I am in Bangkok, Thailand. It's 2:30 a.m., and I am laughing. Steve Young is AWESOME.
LUCKY!!!!!
This interview was GREAT!
Love DP interviews with Steve Young! Pure gold! 😂

Love how humble Steve is. That's why he and Joe are my favorites. Go 49ers!
Steve is so grounded
GO BILLS!!! love Steve Young, best self deprecating guest, wished he coached or was a QB whisperer
Steve does his best work out of the minivan in his drivway.
now it looks like he's in the hallway of his house.
Threw me off honestly when he wasn’t in the van down by the river.
Dan is so good at chopping it up.
Dam i love this interview!!!!
GREAT INTERVIEW…..love Steve….lets not forget he navigated thru ‘’ uncomfortable situations’’….he was sitting behind Montana….that was difficult
Dan, another fantastic interview.

Scott Mitchell
@@jonathanbarker2945 had to look him up, never heard of him, Marino’s back up, which explains why I never heard of him. Good call.
Always a GREAT PERSON!!!!!
I met Steve Young about 4 years ago at a book signing in Mesa. Cool guy who called me “bro” a lot.
That was.
Great thank you
Steve is the best guest ever
Dan and Steve is best in class.

Lot going on in '94
I'm a diehard Cowboys fan but I love Steve Young...could listen to him talk for hours
RG3 and Steve Young are very likeable and relateable . ESPN has made some big mistakes !
9ers should have hired Steve as GM!
10:34 DP maybe you forgot the man is blood relative to Brigham-frickin' Young, statues are so gauche
Steve can’t even scramble eggs left handed
Everyone rubs it on the way in.

Love Purdy for 45M
Darnold same story. 40M club
Steve Young has the weirdest energy but it works.
Typical white guy energy
we still have to see how Penix plays but when do we all start eating crow regards to all the criticism heaped on Atlanta for drafting him?
..... as is Dan
The snake south paw

This dude is excellent guests and analyst of football. Unlike Dan Orvlosky
