i remember meeting bill walton at UCLA couple years ago when I visited....instead of getting an autograph, i simply asked him for life advice....he told me "no matter what, work to be 1% better every day at any craft you love and aim to master....each day you're one step closer to greatness......there's no greater satisfaction than being great at something you love to do"...RIP B.W

I live in San Diego and was walking around my neighborhood about 6 months ago. I saw Bill Walton shuffling along on a walk. His body looked rough, that height and pro ball took a toll on his knees. I was on the phone with my Mom and had never seen Bill in person before. I stopped, asked him if he was Bill (dumb I know), but he flashed that smile, said “yes I am”, i said, “you’re awesome, you always put me in a good mood when I see you on TV, thanks for everything you’ve done” and he said “I’m glad I could a put smile on your face, I hope you have a great day” and he shuffled on. It was so brief as a moment but it was awesome and you could just feel the warmth this guy radiated to everyone around him.

Yup, I saw him here in SD a few times and that positive energy he just always seemed to have. We talked one day for just a moment about how beautiful it is here and how he never got tired of it and that’s why he loved riding his bike around here so much. Such a genuine dude

Moved to SD in 85 courtesy of USN. I first rented in Hillcrest and when the new (at the time) Ralph’s supermarket opened I saw Bill there fairly often. The first time I met him I was truly speechless because he was unmissable. Poor guy’s legs already looked like a road map of scars. Having the honor to meet both he and T Gwynn several times, San Diego might be cursed in the championships category but more than blessed for having those two great men be a part of our community. RIP Big Red.

These men just brought tears to my eyes and a whole lot of respect! Lifelong Portland Tral Blazer fan since day one in 1970 and watched Bill as a college player and wouldn't you know, the Blazers had the first pick in the draft in 74 and picked Bill. He was injured a lot in those first couple of years but, then came the ABA dispersal and Portland got Maurice Lucas and then hired Jack Ramsey as coach and a year later, we were the Champions of the NBA!!! I saw Walton vs. Kareem twice that year, live in the Memorial Colosseum!
I visited my wife in the hospital today and wore my retro 77, #32 Walton jersey there and put a smile on a lot of faces. Bill is an Oregon treasure!!!

Outstanding Tribute. Each and every part of this segment is a great tribute to one of THE greatest centers in Basketball of all time and a Super human being that enjoyed and embraced life like none other - the one of a kind BILL WALTON. Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Draymond Greene, Kenny Smith, and surprisingly Shaq, whose biggest blemish was picking at Bill, made up for it in this segment, by acknowledging Walton as one of the 5 greatest centers and in the "alliance"/pantheon that includes Wilt, Russell, Kareem and himself. I am a Bruin alum. Of course there have been MANY great Bruin athletes, some of played pro ball but many did not. Regardless of a Bruin's college experience, ALL Bruins from ALL decades are deeply, deeply hurt by the passing of Bill Walton. His athletic skills were first rate but so was his personality. He brought honor and pride to all UCLA alums, teachers, students and fans. God Bless you Bill, I will miss you VERY much.

Bill Walton and Marv Albert were the Voice of the NBA from Prime Jordan, Reggie, Kobe and Yes Shaqs championship days. He was a part of my childhood a Big Part. Later learned how dope of a player he was and a Blazer legend cause he was way before my time and I'm a Blazer fan so I had to do my homework. But when Shaq played he would cheer Shaq on as Ernie said "Put it down Big man" or call Shaq out " come on Shaq Don't Brick another one" He was fair and had a brilliant level of basketball iq. I have always wondered why he never coached. And so poetic in his commentary. I remember getting mad at Luke for missing a shot back when he played on the Lakers and yelling damn it why can't u be great like ur dad. Mind u I'm a Blazers fan mad as hell they were losing so bad even Kobe couldn't save them in this game. Sue him and Kobe are sharing great stories. Many before my time have said he was like the next coming of Kareem once Kareem left he was that good. Darn those injuries tht robbed him. Such a great spirit. Rip NW Legend.

This video was so touching, especially with what stories that Ernie Johnson, Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley had to share with us. I believe these three a little more than I do the others. But all of them are a great team when put together. It's too bad that the show will end pretty soon. What a great 22 years it has been though. But 2025 is the end for the show, at least with TNT network.
Also, it looked like there was a pyrotechnic haze from fireworks or fog machines or something, it was clearly in the air near the ceiling of the arena background behind the set. Look at 0:00 for reference on what I'm talking about, if you think I'm crazy, hahaha.
