Your "cold start" exhaust comment is spot on. I took delivery of my VB two weeks ago, this coming Monday. That cold start "groan" first thing in the morning inside the garage, is something I was unaware of, and certainly didn't expect. I've always been intrigued with the WRX, but felt they were a little too "boy racer" looking (i.e I'm an old guy, and wanted something a little more "refined"). So, when this one came out, I jumped on it! Mine's a WR Blue Premium with some options and a manual transmission. So far, I'm loving it!

I love my 2022 wrx premium wrb pearl with moonroof/hk package. Did some cosmetic mods like window tint, side sill protector, window visors, vortex generator, interior led light upgrade (plate and trunk light as well). No problem with the cold start, I feel like it takes 2-3 mins max until it heats up and settle down. Scuffing on side modlings (even before I bought it was there which I thought I can just easily clean but not), the headlight also has this wierd line/shape that it reflects due to the styling design. None of those bothers me as much as the MPG we get especially driving around city which I wish could be better but depending on your commute. I also noticed that the apple carplay disconnects every now and then, causing the infortainment system to restart so hopefully you don’t get lost white waiting for the maps to show up again. This also happens when you just have your phone connected via bluetooth. I just hope it also came with wireless carplay to go with the laggy but nice infotainment display. Almost hitting 7k miles and counting. Love it (sometimes hate😂)

I have a remark axle back on and the cold start are super loud even when the car is warm…it’s different from my 2017

Yeah the VB cold starts are for sure louder than the VA's!

Good video, I hate the eye sight, I hate the dimming of the dash when going through tunnel, I
Hate 0w20 oil, I hate cvt, I hate how low it sits not much road clearance for off road, gas mileage is not that good, I hate the small digits inside the odometer. Btw the exhaust doesn’t do much besides create noise and it only provides horsepower if you replace the whole exhaust like headers, down pipe, catback exhaust, intake. You will create noise by only installing catback and it will draw Cops attention and all the thieves and unwanted attention!

I don't know man these issues seem so minor. I just got a 22 premium and I've never owned a nice car before so to see someone pick out little issues like this seems ridiculous to me. The car performs and drives great.

Sorry for the long comment, but I love my '23 WRX Prem A (non-HK audio/no sunroof), and hopefully there's something helpful for others here. That said, I hate the things I hate because I love my WRX so much. Before my list, one thing I'll say is, I prefer mods the factory should have done. I don't necessarily want a "personalized" car. HP is good. Sound is good--when I was a teenager, I wanted my car to sound like this one. I want my car to be the one that people will say, "That's how it should have come." This is also in case I ever sell it--I'm not trying to hock something that people think I dogged the hell out of. I want to keep that resale value.
    1. The cladding. This is a non-issue for me because I bought magnetite grey and it blends beautifully and it's the main reason I jumped to buy my particular car (plus $500 below MSRP). The fix for any color that clashes with the cladding (if you don't like the clash) is to get a carbon fiber hood scoop; it balances out the color of the cladding so perfectly with the rest of the car you'd think Subaru had a good idea and it came like that. The pictures I've seen almost make me wish I had gotten a different color, but I'm older now and don't want the attention.
    2. Shift slop. For that I've got the Perrin Shift Stops for horizontal and vertical slop on their way. I want getting into 2nd to be smooth and otherwise just be more confidence inspiring.
    3. Audio system - I have the non-HK, but there's no reason to spend the extra $1.8k for the HK if you can just spend the same or less for better quality. Regardless, the non-HK system has the worst speakers I've ever owned and will be replaced. I literally hate them. I will likely go with the full OEM Audio + Reference 500 system, made for the 22+ WRX. Yeah it's $2k, and yeah I'll probably pay for install too, but it's worth it for that custom-built sub that fits in the corner of the trunk.
    4. No full-screen Android Auto or wireless - They better come out with an update or I'm going to have to buy the CarlinKit AI Box that can do it. I did buy the Motorola AA wireless dongle and it's so much better than the unreliable wired connection. But the empty bottom section of the infotainment is just laughable. What are Subaru thinking?
    5. Brakes - They don't feel up to par, and others (SavageGeese) who have done performance testing confirm, which really bothers me.
Things that just annoy me: the turn signal stock and the associated blinker sound; trunk is a bit smaller (-2 cu. ft.) than my old 10th Gen Civic Si; no right turn signal camera, but the visibility almost makes up for it. I can't fix these, so I don't dwell. I completely agree, this car is almost perfect. It's much easier to state the reasons you dislike something you love than to try to encapsulate the love without gushing, so I'll keep the gushing to myself and end the comment here.

brakes need a pad upgrade for sure. Carbotech is the way I am going, just has not hit top priority yet. Compared to my GTI, Subaru WRX brakes are underwhelming. Almost to the point of dangerous. They will get fixed, eventually.

the headlights drive me crazy also driving through a forest at night. The only time i feel safe with not hitting a deer is with the brights on

  • @truckinguy92
    @truckinguy92 ปีที่แล้ว

    1. Mine came with the STi Performance mufflers dealer ordered and the drone is pretty bad but I’ve learned to live with it.
    2. The headlights aren’t that bad especially with the auto high beams. I drive to work at 3am and encounter a lot of deer and have no problem seeing them.
    3. Everyone complains about the brakes not being good enough. They’re not Brembos for sure but they feel adequate for me. The Brembos I had on my 21 GT PP Mustang were even worse with the dust but would stop the car on a dime. I don’t drive my VB as hard as a lot of you young whipper snappers do (I’m 53), so my opinion may not matter. I do get on it once in a while and the brakes have been fine for me.
    4. I’ve scraped the side skirts with my shoes several times. It is what it is, if it wasn’t my shoes it could possibly be something on the road. It’s plastic not much you can do about it. I will admit it’s a little extreme and shouldn’t stick out so far.
    5. Everyone is still having supply chain issues except for maybe the car manufacturers. But they’ve got a lot more money than the aftermarket.
    6. My biggest complaint is the hood flex. It flexes with every single little imperfection in the road. I’ve tried adjusting the little rubber bumpers up front, but it didn’t help. It did help to close the gap between the latch and catch of the hood. Before I adjusted them there was a good 1/4-3/8” gap when you pushed down on the very front of the hood.
    7. A not so big of a complaint as it is an annoyance is the cold start idling. This thing takes for ever to kick down the idle speed, which wastes a lot of gas and lowers the fuel economy quite a bit. If you start driving before it drops, it makes it hard to shift property 1 and 2 it takes longer to drop. Not only that but if you drive a short distance and shut it off, the high idle cycle starts all over again.
Other than that I love the way the car drives and corners. The AWD system is spot on and this is my first AWD vehicle. I recently came home from a 7 state, 800 mile road trip and it was fairly comfortable except for maybe the last 100 miles. On the way home I came down the Sawmill Parkway in NY, a fun twisty type road and the car never skipped a beat and was a blast to drive. I did manage, even with some very spirited driving to get 31.5 mpg, which isn’t bad for this type of vehicle.
Sorry for being long winded but I felt it important to address all of your dislikes. Great video!

Legit issues. The side rocker scuffing makes me ill but I can't blame the wife when I've done it too. The aftermarket supply chain is driving me insane right now. Looking at you Aeroflow.

Hey, I like your content. I’m not sure why you’re saying that there’s aftermarket parts availability issue all the time. There’s other TH-cam guys that have these vehicles and modified them from top to bottom from Suspension, exhaust intakes, intercoolers, etc. etc. and all way available for them. So why are you having these issues I don’t understand.

I'm in Japan and hopefully my new S4 Sti will be ready to collect in October. I have the ETS CatBack arriving for it on monday from the US but unfortunately COBB don't do an Access Port for the JDM version (and also tell me there are no plans to do one either). I cannot find any alternatives either so we're screwed over here for any kind of performance upgrades. That includes getting rid of the 112mph speed limiter.

    Total exaggeration in this video.
The brake dust is the same as a Corolla. Noise level at warm up is loud but not as described in this video.
Also, is not wise to lean on headlight assembly.

Anyone deal with a ton of jerking of their steering wheel when on bumpy roads? After i had my summers put on in the spring after winter, my steering feels much heavier and my car jerks around when hitting bumps and being on uneven roads. My steering WAS NOT like this when i had my summers on before last winter. Its almost hard to even maintain the lane and drive straight on bumpy roads.

@@colejackson3968 But wouldnt that mean the wheel would drift when im on smooth roads as well? When im on a smooth road or smooth highway my car stays perfectly center. Its just on bumpy roads the car jerks around.
