    Those had traps that are lingering floodgates should just not exist. Droll, shifter and lancea are the most toxic hand traps in the game after maxx c obviously. Hand traps should trade one for one not lock you out of a whole game mechanic. I don't care if they are format dependent, such cards should be banned.

    • @LS-qs9ju
      @LS-qs9ju ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The problem with one for one trade is that some deck can plus non stop, for example Mannadium. You simply lose if you can't draw blowout handtrap like Droll, Shifter, Lancea, or Nibiru. Even Nibiru isn't always a guarantee because they can set up Baronne before 5th summons. If you draw no handtrap and they have an average hand, Calamity will says hi in the next turn.
      I think the solution is to create more deck like Tearlament/Labrynth who can play on turn zero. Instead of hoping on blowout handtrap, let's just trade blows with main engine. Those deck are awful when they're the only deck who can do that, but if many deck can do the same, the game will be more interesting.

      I'm not totally against shifter.
      Not a fun card to face, nonetheless it's a kind of evil which serves to gatekeep out so many extravaganzas you might find in a high competitive environment.
      You really need this kind of crap, at least during testing you can say "ok, this bunch of decks are boned so hard by Arise and Shifter that every player knowing what he's doing won't bother consider them".
      I know it kinda sucks, but what else do you want to do in a non-rotational format?
      Also, consider how when a banish focused deck achieves a tier 0ish status good players immediately move their shifters to the side rather than not playing them at all.
      Cause in mirrors it is so ass.
      On a local scale banning shifter doesn't save you from from dudes enjoying playing whatever other random floodgate they like and which coincidentally hoes your deck no matter if Shifter is legal or not.

      @florinalinmarginean1135 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Shifter is fine as a concept because too many decks use their graveyards to generate advantage, ignoring most other hand traps. Similarly to Droll, it's a "fuck that mechanic" card that helps keep in check degenerate strategies.
      Unfortunately, some decks cannot play at all if one of these mechanics is turned off. But that's yugioh for you: you either shut down your opponent's entire first turn through hand traps or you won't play the game at all.
      I think Konami should just ban all the generic extra deck omni negates so we wouldn't have to run these shitty cards just to get a chance at playing the game

    • @mistriousfrog
      @mistriousfrog ปีที่แล้ว

      @@florinalinmarginean1135 I mostly agree. Handtraps are at their most interesting when they trade one for one in order to block a combo line from going off. But Shifter turns off an entire zone of the game which most decks use because archetypes in this game are designed with the assumption you have access to the graveyard. Its way too high impact for a handtrap. Droll is similar in that respect, but preventing draw is less egregious compared to locking off a zone.

    • @ivanmaterazzo2631
      @ivanmaterazzo2631 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@florinalinmarginean1135 agreed. I believe omni negates are not that big of a deal rn. Mass tribute removal became a keystone of this game both as a side option and as featured in main deck slots.
      Also most of the oppressive decks we have seen recently do not feature omni negates (yeah maybe Cryme, but that card is played more for its extension capability).
      Lingering effects are no fun, but as long as Konami releases archetypes in which almost every card serves at the same time the roles of:
      -A starter;
      -An extender;
      -An advantage generator for follow up/floodgate...
      those cards are so necessary.
      And even with them around, so many Kash's hands shit on Droll, Ishizu Tear played around Shifter quite well and so on.

    • @ydontubegray
      @ydontubegray ปีที่แล้ว

      1.Shifter was made before kash was created.
      2. You cant search it and your grave needs to be empty to even use it.
      3. You can play crossout designator to kill it. If you are running called by thats an additional protection for you.
      In event they shifter you during their turn and you have zero counter, your best option is to save as much res as possible. They cant open shifter every game, and even if they did, its just how rng works.

Waited 30 more minutes. Drove home. Went another day got blown out by psy frame, left again. Now toons is not the best deck but I'm hoping to get one monster or spell out. They will then have a friend some by and clean you up pretending to be a Good Samaritan, but they are actually there to pickpocket you or say "now pay for the tissues". I've been busy moving to a different city, so no locals for the past 2 months. I visit my parents for a week, and I told myself "why not? Locals could e fun". All my cards are in my new apartment, so I borrow my brother's HERO deck, which isn't entirely optimized, but is still quite strong.
    First match : I go second, my opponent sets up his Kashtira field, I have outs in hand so I'm thinking I'm fine right ? Wrong. I out Ariseheart, start my combo, "Activate Nibiru, response?" Ok so second game I go first, start building my field, stop with DPE, Cross Crusader, and Vyon on field with Dark Angel in hand. I could stay at that, but I got greedy, what are the odds he has Nibiru in starting hand twice in a row? So 0-1 start.
    Next 3 matches I face Purrely, which I wasn't too familiar with yet, lose 1, win 2.
    Fifth match I go up against Noble Knights. I'm thinking this is at least a third win if I play it right. I go second as I lost the dice roll, he sets up his field. I start my turn, normal summon Stratos, activate effect, he chains Contact C.... Game 2 I start, Activate A HERO Lives, summon Shadow Mist, activate effect, he chains Contact C...
    On the bright side, I pulled a Crimson Dragon from the one and only pack I won from the tourney, so there's that.

    In the next banlist shifter needs to get banned along with arise heart or something that makes the deck harder to make it. Shifter was fine when it was a part of a few rogue decks, especially when we had gamma as an out but now it can be in so many decks (kash, spright, swordsoul, floo, madolche, vanquish soul, etc) that it is just as toxic as mystic mine was a while ago and it makes you either play those decks or lose to it and that is super toxic to have hts that make you not play decks that would otherwise be meta viable. Droll and nib you can make different boards when they happen but shifter a lot of decks auto lose and that is dumb

    My first game was against Kashtira.
    And I'm wondering if paper play is even really for me when I can't feel good about spending top dollar just for one deck that might be fun to play but I'll still lose every match, as I have done for the past 3 weeks with a slightly upgraded Traptrix deck. At least in MD, I can lose for free!

  • @MajorCrasher
    @MajorCrasher ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Honestly kashtira itself is not that big a problem anymore. It's not doing a lot with min hacker banned and ariseheart at one. The real problem card is D shifter. It's just too degenerate to use in any deck that doesn't need it's graveyard. I also got shiftered on my first turn twice at locals by a kashtira player but the board they made wasn't even very good. They won because I literally couldn't do anything without my graveyard. Shifter really needs to be the next card on the ban list. It wins games on it's own far too often.

      @MajorCrasher ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nickhero6329 shifter is not comparable to ariseheart. Shifter is a hand trap that you have to immediately have a very specific out to or just get fucked for two turns. Ariseheart only works while he's on the field and dies to literally any kind of removal. It's a lot easier to get rid of one monster on field than it is to negate a monster effect that's discarded from hand. Not to mention that once the Ariseheart is gone, it's just gone. They're not making another one. Ariseheart is a slightly stronger dark law, I'm shocked that people still think he's broken.
