I like your method of cleaning because it's more relatable. Other grave cleaning videos are using that expensive sprays that I could never afford to buy, let alone so much off. This one looks like a method I could actually do. Thanks for this.
The expensive sprays are D2 and Wet and forget which do not harm the gravestones and are approved by Arlington Cemetary and Veterans groups. Other house hold cleaners can stain or cause the stone to age really bad. If you don't clean a grave properly, dont do it!

Absolutely! And in the case that family cannot be located you can get permission from the cemetery. In the case of this video many of these stones belong to my ancestors.

Ok, so you through me off with that D2 container since I know you clean first with Orvus then D2 to finish up. So my question is, is the D2 container always filled with water or do you really pour D2 on from this size container? Some times, all the time...never?
Have you thought about cleaning with D2 and rinising with water? From my experience, you’d get a lot further with the D2. Great job though and yes, it’s addicting.
I used to clean with only D/2… but why would I want to apply d/2 to a stone, rub it around, then rinse it off? By using Orvus paste I remove the heavy growth and soiling then rinse and apply D/2. The thing with D/2 is that the longer you leave it on the stone the more it will work. If it rains it reactivates and works more… so spraying D/2 on the stone just to rinse it off is a waste. And Orvus paste is cheap
@@Headstoneman It still works after you rinse it. Plus you can lightly mist it if you want to. But the first rain will rinse it. Where do you get that soap though? I am open to try different things depending on conditions and stone type, etc....
On that note… I just don’t see how it makes sense to apply D/2 just to scrub it and rinse it off… seems like a waste of the product when you could really just spray it on and leave it… dwell time is key with D/2. That’s why I do the washing with something much cheaper and effective then spray with D/2 for maximum dwell time afterwards
I’m an EMT and I worry about your hands and long term exposure to chemicals, or infections leading to cellulitis from cuts. Please wear some nitrile or chemical resistant gloves hon. We want to protect you at all costs so we can see more of your great work. ❤
This can say Jan 30,2022- but you’re not in a Michigan cemetery -snow on the ground with blizzard predicted this week. (although wearing shorts year round 🤪)……
Be nice with the little dialogue about what you are doing and why and getting permission from the cemetery in order to do that but they're looking good good job

What are you using in the water to clean the headstones? Sure is making a big difference.....
First I scrub with a mixture of Orvus paste and water. Then I rinse with clean water and treat with D/2 biological solution

Nothing I use is harmful. And I don’t really worry about cuts much. Been getting cuts all my life.
