Dedicated to preserving, honoring and recovering our history and giving names and stories to those that have been forgotten!
Michigan Heroes Museum in Frankenmuth Michigan is by far the best museum experience I have ever had!
Take a few minutes to walk through a small part of this museum and hear a few stories of these amazing men and women who fought to preserve democracy not only in our country but abroad… some of the stories I heard today are amazing, heartbreaking, and sad but most of all worthy of sharing and recognizing.

Construction adhesives are NOT the answer

Construction adhesives will hold for a very short period of time but are never long lasting… it’s better to use materials that are strong, bond well and have longevity.

This grave marker was found broken, buried and dirty… now it is well on the way to being upright and whole again!

We're you able to fill in the holes and open cracks?
Oh yes… I did do an initial layer of infill on this one to seal it up… I still have to finish it though.
@Headstoneman Sorry. Texted to soon. I seen it at the end. Great job.
What if several ghosts rise out of the graves?
What kind of paint should be used on marble? Thank you :)
He used an oil based (or enamel) paint titanium oxide white, and acetone and q tip to clean up. Make sure you give the surface a good clean before painting
Very impressive did you end up doing the bigger letters
You should not paint marble.
No just the ones in this video
What is the address and web address of this museum?
It is in the first 5 minutes of the video. The web address is MIheroes.org but I don’t know the address off the top of my head. It is on Weiss street in Frankenmuth
I love military museums and the memorial to the Korean War vets, like my dad. Thanks for the video.
Wow! I’m 2 hours away and had no idea that was there. I always think of Frankenmuth as the Christmas town of the mitten ha. I definitely will be visiting that museum. Thanks for the video. Cheers from southwest Michigan.
I think that museum is awesome, every state should have at least one.
Incredible
What an awesome experience.
What can I use instead if cuttlefish?
What kind of soap? I can't understand what he's using.
The other cause of sunken markers is the mowers the use now are heavier than 20-30 years ago and they mash the headstones down into the ground. I noticed that the also knock the headstones off their bases and they never get straightened back. I spent many days straightening rows up once only to have them messed up the next time they mowed…city maintained cemeteries are the worst.
Sei un grande! Sei una persona con una grande spiritualità! I morti meritano rispetto e memoria! Ti abbraccio con affetto ❤
There is a long forgotten cemetery in Irondale Missouri, very old. I only know what's there. Cause I found some headstones in the fence line between it and the Railroad. Tracks. when I was a kid.
I’m the last one in my family to care for our deceased lone ones. I’m sure when I’m gone nobody will continue my care or take car of my final resting place. What kind of epoxies do you use?
I use knifegrade epoxy called Akemi akepox 2010 or 5010
Beautiful work! Thank you!
It could be that one of hers or her husband's relatives lived in Midland... The reason she would be buried there.
Great lesson, using the best product for any application can help insure the best result.
Absolutely!
Could I use black paint? My dad is also there in black and want them to match.
Oh yes… any color you like
Interesting, but I’m confused. Standard recommendation for basement wall repair is injected epoxy. However, if there’s still water or moisture intrusion, recommendation is for injected polyurethane adhesive with better resistance to moisture. This is conflicting with the data sheets you showed. I wonder if the epoxy from Germany is ultra expensive which shows the German epoxy being much stronger after water emersion, not like the $7-$12 10oz landscape adhesive you’re comparing against.
This comment is comparing apples to oranges… the two materials are made to do two different things and only one of the products is capable of doing what the other one can do effectively… it’s not the construction adhesive
Hi, I was wondering what you think is the best material for grave markers?
As far as the material the tombstone is made of? Granite by far is the best. Most of the industry has moved toward granite only now
Good video buddy. Im going tombstones and fix some more tombstones.
Cool 👍
How much do you charge for 4 stones like that?
You can send me an email at Pastpreservation1@gmail.com if you would like information
Good info. I use PC Products masonry epoxy. It is a two-part epoxy specifically designed for repairing broken masonry and is not a mortar. I repaired a few monuments 4 years ago and they are holding strong. Let me know your thoughts on this product.
Hard to tell, all the testing on the technical data sheet was done on anchor rods… no stone to stone bonding tests. That being said the cure strength is a little lower than the epoxies I use but probably sufficient
I gotta ask have you ever heard a voice say thank you ?
Nope never
Very nice of you to do this. 💛
Thanks!
Brilliant! The puzzle ones are my favorite to work on.
Mine too!
That's one of my favorite things to do is restore tombstones and Graves at old cemeteries. Awesome 👌 buddy thank you for everything you do I deeply respect your work 👍 👏.
Mine too!
Great job! It's nice to know a little bit about the people whose memory your work is helping preserve.
Yes! Thank you!
Awesome job Cuz
Thank you Cuz!
What do you charge the family for your services?
It depends on what it is or what needs to be done. Paid jobs are pretty few and far between anymore.
Can those cuddle bones be reused on other stones?
Yes they are multi use
I enjoy watching your work.
I appreciate that!
Well done 👍
Thank you 👍
Do you have to ask permission of the cemetery prior to beginning work?
Good rule of thumb is yes, always… but I’m not sure they could stop you if it was your ancestors
Thank you so much for your caring work to preserve this stone! : ) What adhesive did you use to glue the pieces back together?
Akemi akepox 2010
1860? Wow
Yes! It’s an early one!
That’s showing respect
Research can be hard
For sure
Good job!
Thanks!
Impressive! 👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
I’m doing some restoration in an overgrown cemetery. What do you use to probe the ground for markers?
Ive got a ground probe I use, sometimes… but most of the time I can tell there is something there just by the grass growth
Love this
Impressive way to spend time before work
My product is approved by the VA. It is in use on bronze nationwide. It is for bronze there is no claim anywhere that it is a stone cleaner.
Absolutely zero mention of your product on the VA website or in the NCA cleaning protocol. Also… you’re right… your cans no longer say bronze and granite cleaner on them… but somewhere at home I have one that I used a black marker to black out the words “granite sealer” on the can. Also the things you told me over the phone about the VA wanting something other than D/2 to clean headstones with has not proven to be true yet. Honestly you really should look into changing the way you restore bronze… it can be done totally non abrasive with products that don’t harm the bronze. I feel ashamed that I ever took your advice on restoring bronze… and I’m glad I have found a new way.
Can you please scrub in circles
No, I do things the way I like to do them. The direction of scrubbing makes no difference
Couldn't see last product for words....of course. What was it please? Eant to restore several old headstones on a mountain i live on.
D/2 biological solution
Nice work! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
You've done a beautiful job on this headstone. Thank you for your care and attention to each detail of this work! ❤
Thank you very much!
Fresh cut flowers! How interesting! 🎉
