MashAllah tabarakAllah for the baby may Allah bless you with a rightious child. I heard the following from Yasmin Moghad: protect all your senses as this will make your heart sick and weak either. What you watch, look at hear, what you say, what you eat the company you have etc. Recite the Qur'an consistently even if a small bit daily, do lots of istarlfirallah to clean the heart, daily morning and evening duas there's an app easily download * she goes on to say remember shaytan makes us think all or nothing. Fight this off do what you can dear sister put Allah always at the centre of you life to priority. Make lots of dua to Him. May Allah bless you
Sister, I’m curious. At what age do you think a girl should start wearing hijab? I know this is such a personal choice. My 3 older daughters started around 5 but they all have come to me as adults and wonder why they were made at such a young age to wear hijab. It’s been a stressful thing for them and affected them mentally. We are in the US and at many schools they were the only hijabis and dealt with a lot because of that. I don’t want to make the same mistake with my 8 year old.
Hijab becomes fardh when a girl hits puberty however of course it is important to have these conversations with them before that so they are prepared. In US sometimes we do feel the need to start hijab earlier because our children are exposed to so much and we do not want them to get influenced but over the years I have realized that it does more harm at times. For some people it works out but for others , when their daughters start hijab from a very young age they have a resentment towards it over time and when they get older they sometimes even take it off. I always advise parents to have conversations from a young age, to help the girls understand what is hijab and why does Allah tell us to wear it and then also model it for them. Surround them with strong women who wear hijab and are also involved in various aspects of society. This mentally prepares them for it and I have observed and experienced that they themselves incline towards it. I have a short video on this topic on my instagram page. I hope it is helpful too.
JazakAllahu khayr. This is so true. We thought we were doing the right thing by starting our girls young but just as you said it caused resentment as they got older and unfortunately one daughter has chosen to take it off. I have always worn hijab since they were born so they have had me as a role model but we don’t have a huge Muslim family. My extended family is Christian. They only saw me and occasionally my mother in hijab but that was rare since she doesn’t live close. I have been doing just as you suggested by having a lot of conversations with my youngest about when and why she must start. In sha Allah it will be easy for her. Again, may Allah reward you Sister!
I can understand the sadness one feels when a child stops doing what he or she was raised on but as parents our job is to instill the values and foundation in our children. When they get older they do make their own choices which are not always what we want but it is not in our control. One thing is for sure that if we have instilled it when they are younger , even if they drift away they eventually come back on their own. A mother’s dua is very powerful. Keep making dua and inshallah everything will work out just fine.
Asalam alakom my dear sister may Allah grant you His blessings. Allah has beautified our lives with Islam. I love how everything is set out. The age as I'm sure you know is when a female has her first period. She's regarded to wear hijab. Islam is so pious keep your life sound and safe by strictly asking world known sheikh. Asalam alakom 💕
