Mister Joan Francois and Misses Madeleine, both born in 1918, they were best friends for their entire childhood and they fell in love during college, they where seemingly made for each other. After college, Joan Francois and Madeleine decided to get married and make their love eternal, as a wedding present Madeleine her parents gave them the wonderful manor we see today, only a couple of months after moving in Misses Madeleine was Pregnant from their first child. But unfortunately world war 2 was just around the corner and Jean Francois was at the right age to fight for the country, … With all pride, he fought for his country but sadly he passed away during one of the brutal battles. Misses Madeleine became a widow and lived in Greave for decades, she also had to take care of their child on her own, later on, in life, she met her second lover Maurice and she spend the remainder of her life with him. They continued living in the wonderful mansion she got as a present from her parents and even decided to get a child together at a later age. She ended up being the last one surviving and passed away at the beautiful age of 95 years old.
Their memories live on forever in their abandoned house, today we will take a peek inside and document their forgotten lives…

This brought tears to my eye's. I lost my best friend the love of my life my world my everything my boyfriend of 15yrs to a hit & run 2 miles from our house. The accident happened exactly 9 months ago today & 2 day's later I held him as much as I could with all of the tubes & ivs slowly rocked him rubbing his head while I sang our song At Last in a whisper in his ear as he slipped away in my arm's. We'd been together since we were 20. I can't believe it's been 9 month's because to me everyday feels like I just lost him the day before. I completely understand her grief & heartbreak. It's not something you ever get over. Grief is the hardest thing anyone can go through. She figured out a way to make room for it I'm still trying to figure that out. This is an amazing video. Telling their story & showing us how they lived in a way brings them back to life.

@@dozenrosas2136 thank you so much I really appreciate it. I'm struggling. I'm struggling bad. All I do everyday is just get through the day. I miss him so much it physically hurts like my heart feels like it's going to explode out of my chest. I'm not at the point where I can think of all of the good memories & not break down into tears. Hell I broke down in the middle of a Walgreens thinking omg I'll never walk into a Walgreens with him again. It's truly the smallest things you miss. I know it's been 9 months & people always say time heals all wounds I'm still wondering when that'll be because the sadness the complete & utter heartbreak feeling so lost & alone everyday for 9 months wares on you mentally emotionally & physically. We had just celebrated his 39th bday exactly a month before. I always think omg he'll never turn 40 we'll never get married & we'll never be able to try to get pregnant again. All he ever wanted was to be a dad. I got pregnant when we'd been together for 7yrs but when I was 3 months along I was diagnosed with a brain tumor & I lost our son Aiden at 5 months. The only thing that gives me any semblance of peace & comfort is that if there is a heaven he's there & he finally got to meet his son. So he's being the dad he always wanted to be. Just never ever thought in a million yrs I'd have to say goodbye to him so so soon & not in that way. Sorry didn't mean to make this so long but again thank you & I hope one day I will be able to be happy again to live again to thrive again & to not just exist like I have been. Hope you're having a awesome day so far. Much❤&✌

Hi Leslie. That guitar instrument is a mandolin. Interesting pictures and images. It appears based on some of the pictures she was a teacher. Perhaps theatre or arts and crafts. The picture where she was talking with a microphone looked like a talent show as she was standing on a stage with instruments. The sewing machine may have been used to make costumes for her students. What a story and what a house. If those walls could talk. She lived to the age of 95 so amazing. Thank you for sharing their story. Safe travels. ❤️🙏

I am absolutely FASCINATED by these Homes. At first, I kept wondering , if People simply went and removed all the Beauty and History. After, contacting some of the people, who do the Shows. The dolls are Greek and the mandolin may be a bouzouki

    • @Dragonflyte1
      @Dragonflyte1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I agree that it may be a bouzouki. (sp) Mandolins have 4 pairs of strings. I didn't get a close look but it looked like it may have only had 6 tuning pegs which means 6 strings. I don't know how many the Greek instrument might have .

I'm totally addicted to Leslie's tours, so fun to walk through these places and imagine the lives of the people who lived there. like peeking into other people's behind-closed-doors worlds. dumb question though, why is the paint on the ceilings always falling down even when the house has only abandoned for a few years? whether in a hot or a cold climate, they are all falling down. wonder what causes that to happen.

Pieces of a life, what a beautiful house her family gifted her :) The houses look so charming in France. I have to say that I liked the recessed cabinets with her knickknacks, reminds me of family:) The dolls were nice to see, but the clown was eerie :) poor little guy. The phography was great to see also. I am impressed that the lady of the house was able to stay and enjoy her home for so long with a little ingenuity. Those unusual touches with the feeding trough and horse collar in the dining area were very unique. Thank you for sharing your adventure and stay safe.

If I was young again and
had lots of money, I would restore theses homes. Most of the expense would just be
too reproachable with years of damage. My only pet peeve is your not putting things back in place as you pilfer through each thing. Please just shut the door on cabinets or trunks like you found them.

Hi Leslie, the German mug on the shelf was amazing, I have one that looks just like the one you showed us. Awesome when you see something that you have too. Wish I could explore these places. I see how passionate you are about these artifacts and it makes me wish that I could be apart of the discovery with you. Be safe and take care.
    Your friend,
    Bonnie

Another fine home because of you we get to see. Living a long time she must have had a good life. I hope so anyway. Im glad to see after her husband she found a person to shair her life with. I think no one should ever be alone even though so many people do. Theres not much to say about this home. Looks like to me this place is another home thats not going to come back. Thats the sad part to see. Time moves on. Stay safe and I will be watching for next weeks show. Thanks

I had watched a different explorer visit to this home. Leslie, your visit offers a wonderful level of detail and emotion, it makes us feel like we are meeting the former owners. I appreciate your thoughtful way of storytelling. Great job!
On a sad note, I noticed that the white door in the downstairs bedroom, to the left of the bed 26:05, had several large locks/bolts on it. This didn't look original and made me wonder if the older lady felt uncomfortable living alone in the house. A weird thing was the graffiti on the refrigerator in the kitchen. Someone wrote "ne pas guurire meric!" This is not spelled correctly and possibly they meant to write ne pas guérie / guérir (don't recover or get better) merci. Perhaps she had to leave the home because of poor health and stay in a medical facility, and detestable people broke in to vandalize it or squat there. Old people are treasures and deserve to live in peace and respect.

No, That is not Charles De Gaulle. Look at a picture of Charles De Gaulle closely. He has a very large nose... the picture of this man does not. However, De Gaulle wore a hat similar to the man in the picture.

I enjoyed this so much! The decor, China, and Crystal reveal that she was a loving family person. I can just imagine the friends and family gathering there for the weekends. I’ll bet the house smelled devine with foods cooking. It reminds me of homes that I went to when I was young. Thanks so much for focusing on her “what nots”! Most were probably given to her as gifts. I don’t think people gift each other beautifully decorated, glass, delicate objects anymore. Seeing this lady’s items brought back precious memories to me. 😊

Hi Lesley, it is wonderful how you are preserving the history of these people and their homes. The youth of today may get an insight into the lives that were lost during WWII and the sacrifices that people made for their country and for Freedom. You can see Madeleine's ghost, she starts at the lamp in her bedroom and moves across the bed and is also seen in the mirror. The spirit starts at 26.18 and is obvious as i saw it 3 times. It is a shame that nobody even emptied the fridge. Old people keep so much stuff and have a hard time throwing things away especially if they lived through a war.

At about 22:13 not a typewriter, but looks like a form of vintage knitting machine. 🧤🧣🧦 Also remember in these old homes not all the bedrooms were for family members that lived in the home. They would have extra bedrooms for visitors as back then it would be a long carriage ride for the guest to travel. Even if they just held a dinner event they needed rooms for guest to sleep over.
