- In this one I go over my experiences with the HWK adventure motorcycle pants and the HWK armored pants. I wanted to give you an honest review and compare the two of them so you can be the judge if they'll work for you or which one will work best for your motorcycle adventures. We are not affiliated with HWK but we have been using their gear for over a year now and think it's pretty good especially for the new person wanting to get into the ADV riding hobby. Great review Greg! They seem to be good riding pants for a good price. I have the ARC pants and overall they are good to go. I am surprised the HWK adv pants do not have a liner behind the zipper for over the boot. Spot on about the Palmetto ADV Rally! Going to be Epic!! It would be great to have more guys attend.
Thanks. I don't know why they didn't put a liner behind there. It would have made more since to make both pair the same. Maybe they'll see this video. The ADV Rally is going to be a good time. I think they have almost sold out of tickets. Which is a great thing.
I have the ARC pants too, they are really quality gear for the money. Too bad Rocky Mountain discontinued them.

I prefer over the boot too but inside has it's advantages sometimes. The ADV Rally should be a good time.

I got a pair of the armored pants, and do a lot of dualsport riding. They're worth every penny. Very comfortable. For low speed crashes, they've held up very well.

I bought a pair of the HWK armored pants a while back. The main zipper broke and the company would not stand behind them. The offered me forty percent off on the next pair. There wont be a next pair......;o)
Dang I hate to hear that. I've never dealt with their customer service and it doesn't sound like I want to. This day in time nothing a company does surprises me really. They want our money and to be done with us.
Good Review. These are cheaper options compared to the Motoport pants I was looking into.

I Have The DEFY version of the Hwk , and also Great !! The Only Little Negative is The waist Button are weak , but easy fix
GRUMP !!!! - I have the black pair - and I love them. They are 100% wind proof and I also feel they are 100% water proof - As I have tested mine in those conditions. I will say, for me, they may be designed for "over the boot" - but with 13 EE size feet / boots, they do NOT fit over my boots. I will try again, just for fun, but so far "no bueno" (That's Spanish)...
I will say that I absolutely love my HWK pants, and for around 60 bucks - you can't go wrong.
I also have the HWK jacket - for around the same price, and it's my favorite jacket of the 3 I have. I think they are great products for the money.

If I have the black pair unzipped at the bottom the fit over my tech 3 but the gray ones will not. You have big feet so that neither of them probably would 😂. Me and Timmy have the jackets as well. They make decent products and you definitely can't beat the price. As always thanks for watching and commenting. I look forward to reading your comments every time.
@@TheBeardedGrump GRUMP - You are very kind. I may cut that "condom" at the bottom - That may allow my boots to fit through - Having to take off my boots to put on my riding pants is not that big of a deal, but would be nice just to slip them on - over my boots & jeans....

I have the black ones and they do a good job for that price point...These days almost everything has doubled in price...Looking forward to some warmer temps for the 23 riding season...thanks for another honest review...;-)
I know man everything is getting higher and higher as far as price goes. Luckily this stayed the same. It's been raining so much here that riding opportunities have been far and few between but spring is right around the corner. Thanks and thanks for watching and commenting 👊

Thanks for this review. I've always just ridden in Wrangler's but do wish I had been smart enough to have some knee protection recently. These pants look like a good option and I have always been impressed with the HWK value.

I burned a hole in my ARC pants as well. I was not pleased and I only paid $99 for them. I would have been pissed for weeks if I put. A hole in $600 Klim pants! - Frank
Yeah with my pipe if the pants don't have suede or leather to protect that part I'm going to burn them. That's why in a way I like them inside the boots because that's what the boots are designed for.
Hi Greg, I have the HWK ADV pants, I like them.. although admittedly I often just wear a regular cargo style pant. The HWK's defiantly inspire safety though..good value riding pant for sure.

I came and watched your video. I own the all black pair. I have a 32 inch inseam and got them and then got 34 inch which work better. Wear shorter inseam during warmer days. Got the Alpha ones too. I own 20 plus pairs of pants. Want the Adv white pair for the appeal of the look. Great video. I own about 14 HWK items and they say they are water proof, they are not. Jackets and pants. None of mine are waterproof as stated. Still for the price, I kept buying them
Thanks for watching. I buy them a size big too. I like to have room in case I need to layer underneath them. The gray ones are cool looking and I'm starting to like them more as I wear them more. I have the white pair of these pants and surprisingly you can wear them as in the boot pants and they’re fine. I haven’t had them for very long but I agree with the over the boot issue because I also wear Alpinestars Tech 7 motocross boots for the same reason of protection because adventure boots are a waste of money, if the bike falls on your leg which it WILL happen they aren’t stiff enough to take that type of crash. Also adventure boots are mainly for 80-90% on road and not meant for harder off road kinda for the BMW GS guys. I have a Husqvarna fe350s that’s a “dual sport” but it’s really a dirt bike with blinkers and a horn. Anyways, the HWK pants are a great value for the price and I recommend them to people in a cooler climate, I live in Arizona so they’re far too hot but I’ve used them in the mountains and they weren’t too bad but still too hot for the type of riding I do. They will come in handy during the fall and winter time with or without the waterproof/wind proof liner.
They are hard to beat for the money and you're right they definitely are hot in the warm months. I prefer the black ones because they fit over my boots better and they are made just a tad bit better. You're definitely right motocross boots are the only way to go if you're going to be riding off road. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it 👊
I have a HWK jacket. I don't wear it much because I have about 20 other jackets stuffed with my wife's 20 jackets in the coat closet. It seems fantastic for the price, but I heard one TH-camr say that his fell apart fairly quickly. Heck, it looks and feels great and was only ~$85. I'd be willing to try the pants.

I've had the jacket and pants for over a year and a half and haven't really had any trouble with them. I burnt a hole in the pants but it was my fault. The jacket still looks brand new but I don't wear it all the time. I think it's definitely good for the money. I never heard another TH-camr speak so I was wrong 😁 which isn't the first time. The biggest channel there was Moto Photo Adventures. I don't think anyone consider any of us "Big" 🤣. Thanks! We're pumped about it! Now onto 3k!
hip armor is under rated, i have crashed a hyper scooter a few times and 2 times i thought i broke my hip but just bruised it

Had the adventure pants for 2 years. For the money they are great. Going to buy the other kind to have another pair and test em out. Kinda wish they werent black but oh well.
They are definitely good pants for the money. The black ones fit over boots better and I like the way they are made better than the gray ones.
I have the light color ones as well. My biggest complaint is that I have to buy the ones long enough for me but then the waist is way too big and has to be cinched up. I had to fold and rig the sides because there wasn't enough velcro overlap to get tight enough.
Timmy has the same problem. Skinny long leg people what can you do? 😁😂
Biscuits and gravy may help. Start with a Monday through Friday regiment. If need be, add Saturday and Sunday. - Frank

Pretty much basically the same with some added features and some removed features. 😂. Also, you’re living on the edge lately…no gear, now your hands not on the handlebars.
They really should have made both of them the same but different colors. Don't know why they didn't. Living on the edge and I can't keep myself from falling living in the edge 🤣

I own an HWK adventure jacket and the black riding pants, they are NOT waterproof (in a moderate rain you'll be soaked). I contacted the company and they admitted the first generation had issues with the waterproofing and sent me one of their new gen spider jackets no charge, the new jacket fits much better but I haven't confirmed the waterproofing yet.
Yeah the waterproofing isn't great but for the money they're still decent products. It's good to hear that they took care of you and sent you a replacement. Hopefully you'll have good luck with the Spyder Jacket.
Thank you for the review! What I can't seem to find anywhere is whether that flap that covers the vent on the leg comes completely off or if you're supposed to roll it down and tuck it in. Can you shed some light on that?
It's supposed to roll down and the Velcro holds it down

I tried a pair and sent them back. Crotch seam was ripping. Velcro pocket closer stitching was ripping and even the stitching on the waistband. This was after 2 hours of light off road.
The gray ones or black ones? My gray ones ripped like that and they sent me a pair of the black ones back. I prefer the black ones
@@TheBeardedGrump the gray ones. I went with those as they had the large mesh vents. I replaced them with a pair of MSR NXT Air pants that were not much more on clearance than these.

The pants are for more cool weather or moderate weather riding. Aka not hot weather as they are hotter than hell in that weather.
Also they don’t fit over motocross boots very well.
Yes they are pretty hot in hot weather. The black ones fit over my Alpinestars tech 3 fine. I wear the black ones every time I ride even in hot weather.
I do not like spending much money on gear. Tourmaster was my go to brand, even they are getting a bit pricey

I'm with you on that. I try my best to keep riding as affordable as possible. HWK has been pretty good especially for the money.
I typically wear 36” inseam. I can wear 34” if the pants are on the lengthier side. Do these run on the shorter or lengthier side of 34” inseam?
I would say the shorter side in length and bigger side on waste.
I wouldn't care if I crashed in these vs a Klim. I will just buy more for a tenth of the price.

Really comfortable and nice features. Unfortunately mine started splitting at the seam in the seat area (no, they are not too small. Disappointed because I liked them.
Did you have the gray ones or the black ones? My gray pair started splitting at the seams too but the black ones are still in good shape. I reached out to HWK and they replaced my gray ones with a pair of the black ones at no charge. Their customer service was great.
Also have the grey ones and the stitches near the seam around groin are also splitting.
I paid $50 CAD for them brand new so I really can’t complain . Used every ride for 1.5years still useable. Might try to stitch them up seeing as to buy another pair is $140+ now for some reason.
Yet the black pants have stayed at $75 forever
how tall are you and what size did you buy? im considering these but im 6'4" and i always have issues with gear being too short if i buy the correct waist size for me.
I'm right at 6' 180lbs and I've worn a large and medium. The medium fits best.

Do you wash them? If so, do you wash with a normal cycle and generic detergent or something different?
I wash them off with the garden hose. I think my brother has washed his in the washer but I'm not sure. They say they are machine washable so I would think it would be ok to do so.
Have to admit I bought both of those for the price. Went down on gravel road doing about 45. They instantly shredded after looking the stitching is a joke. Wear at your own risk
Fortunately I've never gone down at speed in them. To be honest I don't know if any textile pants would hold up too well in a 45 mph crash on gravel. I hope you healed up well and thanks for the info. Thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it.

No problem. I can't bring myself to ride in jeans well when I'm actually going out to really ride. I've always been a big gear fan even in my motocross days. If I could afford it I would have multiples of everything so I could always wear something different lol. These pants are pretty decent for the money and get the job done.
