Aftermath of hurricane Helene in the upstate of South Carolina. We didn't get anywhere near as much damage as western North Carolina and Tennessee. Please keep all the people affected by Helene in your thoughts and prayers.

Georgia Traverse/SM500 | We Almost Gave Up
มุมมอง 1.8Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Day two of riding the Georgia Traverse and Smokey Mountain 500 on a Suzuki V-strom 1000 and KTM 990 Adventure and it was a struggle once again. We got rained on again and had a hard time finding a camp site. The good thing is adventure motorcycle riding and motorcycle camping doesn't always have to be planned out. Some of the best adventures are ones that go wrong.

Moto vlogging with just the Insta360 X4 and Cardo Packtalk Edge using Bluetooth connection for the audio. I lack confidence in myself when it comes to technology and new gadgets. At least the KTM 990 Adventure did well lol. It felt good to ride again and I can't wait for the next motorcycle adventure. #adventure #motorcycle #ktm

What a great day of adventure motorcycle riding on the Kentucky Adventure Tour! We visited Natural Bridge SP and got to see a lot of wild horses. All in all the KAT is a great route with lots of good riding and things to see. It's harder than the Smokey Mountain 500 and probably harder than a lot of the BDRs. I highly recommend checking it out. Oh yeah my KTM 990 Adventure R is a freaking beast...

Thankful you didn't have much damaged. Bless you!
Thank you 🙏
Subbed from Oklahoma. Know it or not, YOU are the media getting the real news out, now. The MSM is refusing to report on the true devastation, and the Fed Gov is not only refusing aid, they are actively hampering private rescue/aid efforts. Praying for you guys
Thanks. I don't get involved in politics and it doesn't surprise me one bit that the government isn't helping. Something needs to change in this country before it all goes to 💩. Thanks for the prayers 🙏
Having a storm hit at night is hard! Yeah, cleanup is going to take a long time.😐 Be safe.❤
Yeah that definitely makes it a little bit worse. Thanks. 🙏
Just curious what kind of bike are you riding
2012 KTM 990 Adventure R
Glad everyone is safe down that way. Unfortunately there are areas in the mountains that have been geographically changed by this storm and will take months or years even to get back to normal. Lost a car to an oak tree but everyone is safe and no damage to the house so all is well. Good luck to yall thanks for the video
It's heartbreaking to see all the damage in NC and TN. We have family up there and thankfully they are safe. I'm glad to hear that you are safe. 🙏
Thanks for the ride! What make/model is it? Praying for you all! Keep looking Up, Jesus is coming soon! All who call upon His Name, shall be Saved
It's a 2012 KTM 990 Adventure R. Thanks for the prayers 🙏
@@TheBeardedGrump nice bike! Subscribed for more rides 😀
@@gloriacartenuti6763 thanks and thanks! I usually post videos every Saturday. Lots of ride videos from various areas now. Check them out whenever you get a chance 👊
Thank you so much for reporting since communications are down.
No problem at all 🙏
Nice place ❤🌸🐦⬛🐨
Thanks very much for your excellent video tour. I have friends in western TN, eastern NC and upstate SC and haven’t spoken to any of them. While the fallen tree damage and power outages are serious in your area I was glad to see that you all don’t have the devastation that other areas received. Stay safe, hope you get help with that huge tree! 🥰🐅
I hope all your friends are safe and doing well. We were very fortunate not to have the damage that they have in western NC and east TN.
Now'd be a great time to go into the firewood business. Start stacking cords and wait for them to dry. It'd be a really nice vacay in a couple years. 😅
I would but I'm still recovering from a broken back. Just getting my yard cleaned up was a task lol
Prayers from Florida, if I had the money for gas I'd be up there helping, no shame in you guys being scared of something like this, especially when you guys don't typically get these kinds of things. Absolutely sick how FEMA isn't helping you all, glad private citizens are stepping up the efforts and hoping you all can get back to normal pretty quick.
Thank you very much. 🙏
Halloween is so ruined . . but you got the HORROR

Awesome! I appreciate it
This has happened before. Do you not remember Hugo?
I was 9 then and I don't remember it being bad in the upstate but I was 9 so I probably wouldn't have paid much attention back then
Nice video, but please put gloves on. If you fall🥲
Uhm, YES WE HAVE!!! Hurricane HUGO. Became a Cat 5 after landfall and went right through here.
I was 9 then and I don't remember it being bad in the upstate but again I was 9 and probably didn't pay attention back then
Every hurricane is different. Hugo did it's main damage with wind but lacked Hellene's intense rainfall.
Man you have nothing to deal with compared to Western North Carolina and Upper East Tennessee.
I know we are very fortunate. I have family in east Tennessee but thank God they are all safe
Looking hard for a blessing, firewood for everyone.
Wow
Where where you during Hugo? 1989. Lancaster SC..my grandparents were still alive and were living there. Got hit pretty hard
I was 9 and don't remember it doing much around here but then again I was 9 and probably didn't worry much about it
Hurricane Hugo in 1989?
I was 9 but I don't remember it getting real bad in the upstate of SC then.
Thank you for sharing your story. I know it will help others see that there can be light on the other side. Glad you made it through.
It was a difficult video to post but I always hope that by sharing my struggles it helps someone else that might be going through something similar
Thank you and I’m so glad your home is safe. I hope you all get power on soon. Stay strong!!
Thank you 🙏
Carnage!!!
You were blessed!
Definitely 🙏
Here in the western Virginia mountains/hollows we’ve had about 8 days of soaking rain, with yesterday being the driest. Our middle river is at flood stage 1/2 mile from our hollow. Our house sits on a ridge on the hollow. This morning we have large bull pine on our roof. A live tree with roots pulling out of the ground. We’ve got 100+ year old white pines all around our house. If they b/c unstable we’re screwed.
I'm sorry about your home. I hope the other trees stay upright. 🙏
The cars on the road look apocalyptic
I'm from Asheville. I live in Winston Salem now but my mother and siblings are there. One sister lives near Mars Hill College and they had power and water yesterday but still no cell service. My mother is west of Asheville and nothing is on, only near downtown but still spotty. My nephew's wife is a nursing supervisor at Mission and she said 4 pick up trucks full of bodies were dropped off at the morgue Saturday night. There is no describing the devastation.
Man the part about the trucks is hard to read. My heart is broken for all the people in those areas
Dam..take care. I grew up there. Living IBX NC now. We got a little weather here. Prayers to everyone. Still have plenty of friends and family in upstate SC and NC.
Thanks. Hopefully all your friends and family are safe
This just blows me away! I've lived just outside of Charleston in West Ashley for 5 years now and work right on the peninsula. Rain didn't start till about 2pm on Thursday, it got heavy at times but not serious, and winds didn't start till early Friday morning, but again nothing serious. I saw some branches down but no trees. Lost power Friday morning while getting ready for work, but it was restored by the time I got home. The sun was coming out by Friday afternoon.
I'm glad it didn't get bad there
It's almost like hurricanes are getting worse due to climate change! Who would have thought it?
Weather manipulation..since the 40's
what is your ride you used in this video?

I’m sorry for all the loss of life and damage. I live very near Galveston. I fear every storm that brews near us. I hope you and yours do well.
Thank you. We are blessed not to have any damage to our house but the folks in NC and TN and dealing with major damage.
Lived in Fla on the coast all my life and seen 70 mph winds a few times. Its definitely no joke. We're all praying for y'all.
@@donaldhersey1529 thanks 🙏
We got nailed east of Asheville. It's so bad greg
I'm sorry Jake. I'm praying for you and everyone up that way. 🙏
@TheBeardedGrump we appreciate it. We got hit bad but Asheville got it too and they're trapped
You’re driving awfully fast without knowing what’s ahead!
@@ruthmaier755 that what my wife said but the camera just makes it seem that way
@@TheBeardedGrump just be careful. That’s all I was thinking.
Ive gone through Hugo. This was no different. I saw 36" of rain fall in 2018 Florence event. I rode that one out on the job. That hurricane lasted 3 days before it cleared out. Helene moved like a speeding freight train. Nothing worse or special about it comparing to the past.
Tell that to the people that lost everything in NC and TN. It doesn't matter if it's different or not. Have there been worse storms maybe but that doesn't have anything to do with it at this moment
@@TheBeardedGrump I can. Stop building out of sticks in flood zones. Dont bitch to me about getting wiped out every time the storm blows. Part of my family owns a stone build house next to a small mountain river and got flooded more times than I can remember. Every time this happens they dry their stuff out, pump out the basement and go on living. Their house was build in 1901. In America You build quick and that makes it cheap. Show me a dwelling that is 300 years old today and I will show you not a single 2×4 holding it up but a real wood timbers and stone masonry.
I was born in Greenville lived at Paris mt then moved to Myrtle beach in the mid 80s. I have been through so many storms with Hugo being the worst. I have since then prepared for any storm. We built a concrete room onto our house with 8 in walls and 7 in ceiling. Roll up metal doors. We have a liquid cool 25 kw generator that feeds the whole house that runs off a LP tank buried in the ground. I learned after Hugo not many will come after a storm to help. Our power was off for two weeks. We were not prepared for that. Now I have enough food and water to last two months. We have 4 chain saws and we only store enough gas like 4. 5 gallons cans to run anything that runs on gas. It’s just tragic with this storm Helene the devastation to families. Hope and pray it gets better soon.
@@freegrazer yes it definitely a good idea to be prepared and it sounds like you are well prepared which is awesome. 👊
Biden won’t help
I had a Facebook friend in Asheville, NC who commented that she "moved to the mountains so she didn't have to worry about hurricanes" when that tropical storm warning went out last week. I thank God that she's safe but her beautiful neighborhood is all but destroyed by falling trees.
@@catfishcooler1566 no one was expecting the flooding and destruction to be as bad as it is. I'm glad your friend is safe 🙏
I’m in Clover still no electricity but I’m thankful for everyone being safe and praying for the people further north. My daughter is stranded in Asheville but was safe as of yesterday but no cell service
We still don't have power either. I'm glad your daughter is safe 🙏
Any word on Landrum/Tryon?
I think they are in about the same situation that we are here
@@TheBeardedGrump I'm worried about friends there.
@@LorenaBobbittForPresident I hope they are ok 🙏
Get used to it because this is going to be the new norm.
Oh, you can predict the future, lucky you. The last tropical storm to hit upstate SC was in the early 90s, the wind was not as bad, but the rain was. Every 30 years is ok, I probably won't be around to see the next one.
I spent many childhood vacations in the beautiful Smokies. I’m not making fun of you. I’m heartbroken 💔 for you. I live in Florida now. The worst of it missed my area plus we know where we live & what to expect. You had no idea what was coming. I am so sorry.
The Smokies are a great place and my heart is broken for all the people in western NC and east Tennessee. Thank you. I truly appreciate 🙏
What a mess. Counting our blessings this time around. October 2020, Hurricane Zeta came up through Georgia and dropped a massive pine tree through our house and almost killed my mother as she was sleeping in her bedroom upstairs. This time around I was SO paranoid... I kept waking up when Helene was coming through and making sure she came downstairs to camp on the couch. It didn't hit too badly here, and it's heart breaking to see all the devastation elsewhere. :(
It was definitely scary and I'm happy to hear that you and your family are safe.
Thanks for posting. I'm up here in VA mountains & so fortunate that we didn't get hit nearly as hard as ya'll and NC. Has anyone confirmed if Asheville road access is completely cut off? I've heard that there's a state route road that is still passable but not sure.
I just saw that Asheville has a way in and out.
We're in Marietta SC
I hope y'all are doing ok
Crazy the damage you got up there. I live in Florida and experienced several hurricanes. I did get some winds from this but under 2 inches of rain. I didn't lost power this time. I was kind of shocked. In the past I have lost power for 8 days so I can relate to that. Praying for all the lost lives and people effected by the storm.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it 🙏
Butt be puckering up😂
That's when you know you're scared 😂
No sir, we had a gust of 140 in Spartanburg.
