I know this video is five years old but I just found you because I literally developed foot drop out of nowhere about two weeks ago. I’ve had numbness and tingling in my feet and legs for a few years but one day I went to get up from a chair and I couldn’t walk. I actually have it in both feet but one foot is better than the other. I’m going for some testing to see if it’s a MS or something else but this video for the foot drop is exactly what I need. I’m gonna look to see if you’ve made additional videos. I’m a very active person and the fact that I can’t walk or do my yoga because of this foot is something I am not willing to accept. I am going to do everything I can to overcome this.
It took me 5 years of doing his videos. everyday but it paid off and I'm so thankful for these videos. It's not going to happen in a week it's not going to happen in a month and I know that because I have Ms. I didn't see progress until year four and everything changed at year 5. My foot was paralyzed. Couldn't feel it My toes curled. You got to want it everyday and things will happen.
I am so thankful that I discovered your videos! Having recently been diagnosed I have been feeling frustrated and now at least I can work on these concepts.
I really love your enthusiasm and encouragement. As part of MS Awareness Month 2018, I publish a blog post every day of the month containing suggestions, advice, research and personal findings concerning living with the disease. So thrilled to have discovered you and your MS Gym. Thank you for devoting so much energy to improving the MS life.
Thank you my friend very much, this was very helpful. even though I have difficulty to reach to my foot, but I’m pretty sure I will get there GOD bless you 🙏🙏😊
These exercises are definitely beneficial. I'm seeing some improvement in just three sesssions. There is one other problem I need to address and that is my right leg tends to hyperextend to the right which throughs me off balance. Do you have an exercise to strengthen the leg to take care of this issue. Thanks so much. Your videos are the only exercises that have helped me so far. I'm so happy to be able to see some improvements and will continue to do the exercises.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I have been looking for something therapeutic to help my legs so that I can balance and move a bit faster. Thank you!
I have MS and use a cane. Thank you so much. Taking magnesium and taking magnesium mineral salt baths or epsom salt baths also helps a lot along with massage.Yoga and Meditation work wonders as well.
Think so....bought an aerobic stepper today so that should help...will be getting addicted to your great videos...a healthy addiction indeed! BTW, I thought I heard you mention on one of your videos, that you have MS as well??
Hi Khuloud, I help Trevor out with the TH-cam site. The answer is Yes. I personally use a Purewave massager on the bottom of my feet. You can use your thumbs or put a tennis ball under your foot and roll it under your foot seated or standing. Same for your knees.
My one leg attacked I am having hip replacement in the right leg I am having foot drop in the right leg. My operation held on 12.4.2023. I am having physio therapy daily. Thank you for your guidance.
Should I stop exercising if my healthy knee started to hurt heavily after doing them (the affected leg feels fine)? I have HEMIPARESIS (OF THE LEFT ARM AND LEG) FOOT DROP in my left foot which I got due to the hemorrhagic stroke undergone 10 years ago.
Thank you so much for your lovely work. I found just now those kind of specific exercises for my MS. I’m from Italy. In this kind of exercises for foot drop, I am not be able to move my toes up and down like you say. I’m just able to move my toes a little, down. But I’m not able to move them up. What can I do?
Hi Trevor, Excellent vids, huge thanks from Israel. Can this be done using TEMS device? I have some difficulty with my right hand as well (would love a vid for it), but for now, want to start with my feet for now.
hi i started practicing now with u am dramatically increased from remiting to to secondary MS so now i can't sit down from my back as straight i have to throw my heavy over something
this just started happening out of no where to me. I dont know for sure if its foot drop but i cant lift my photo upwards and from my shit down all the way across the top of my foot it feels numb with a pins and needles feeling to... I did nothing for this to happen was casually resting with my legs up on my desk fell asleep. woke up and this happend and im scared shitless.
Hi Treveor, found this first set of exercises amazing. Got some feed back from my foot after 20 years of nothing but pain. I cannot find the other youtube exercises to carry on. I would appreciate if you could send me a links to them so I can continue.... Or if anyone can help me locate I would appreciate your help. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I just got back from my second session of physical therapy feeling frustrated, as the exercises I'm being taught have nothing to do with foot drop, which is why I was referred to begin with. I was told that there are not exercises to help with foot drop, only exercises to help prevent muscle atrophy. This video makes me feel optimistic. Even if it doesn't give me magical results, I can't do nothing. Something has to be better than nothing. I'm getting a brace to help with it as well. Do you think that will negate the effects of these exercises?
Hi Evie, glad you are finding help here. You CAN counteract foot drop. I have success stories sent to me daily about how much better people's feet are moving. It takes time but is possible. You can use the brace when walking or exercising to help you balance but try to now use it with these exercises. Also, if you are interested in a PDF version of this Foot Drop program check out" www.ExerciseWithMS.com
Will definitely not be able to do any type of on-the-floor exercises. Only able to step up 1". I am 5'4", 120 lbs., fairly strong from the waist up, but disabled. I use a scooter and I'm not as mobile as the other commenters. Hope there's something here for me.
I have SPMS, and right foot drop. Almost no independent rt. foot movement. Can I do these exercises passively? I have an FES device, but without that stimulation, zero ability. So if foot motion is absent, are these possible AND benefical by external massage and pausing?
Okay, so I have not been diagnosed with MS, however I've been suffering greatly with what the orthopedist said was "hidden sciatica"! 🤔😡 I've been dragging/swinging my leg because there was no other way to get around & I know it's damaging my body more. My hips/back would get sooo tight within seconds of trying to walk. I just did these & OH MY 😲.... I'm actually able to kinda walk "normal".
They may just not know... you have a home now Bodil. If you haven't checked out the MS Gym on Facebook, click this link to join: facebook.com/groups/themsgym
Have you watched the video got foot drop? Try this…. Try improving ankle mobility by doing ankle circles using a strap around your ankle to assist you in the movement
I have MS & DROP FOOT I am so so at the of my ROPE WITH THIS AND HOW IT CHANGED EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE I HAVE A 6 YEAR old single father I never expected my life to change SO MUCH IN EVERYWAY I WILL GIVE THIS A SHOT and oil hope it help I AM SO SICK OF BEING MARK!!!
Mark Ciotti we have LOTS of fathers just like you who have fought through foot drop after years of it affecting life and their ability to be an active strong dad.
Ms is tough I've been doing shockwave therapy offered by a MD and a strict diet still dont feel 100 percent but i feel 85 percent and i can live with that..the shockwave is for tight tendons .
Lisa try it and see what you can do. Our bodies are amazing at adjusting. It's all about you. Don't compare or compete. Just try it as much as your body/brain will allow. It maybe frustrating at first, but keep at it.
Hi LisAnne (is that what you go by?). Glad this helped you. I have worked with a lot of TBI clients over my 15 year career. These exercises are great for you too. If you want more, please Subscribe to this page and let me know how you are doing! Happy to have you.

Moved from there 2 Pilates THEN yoga! i cONTINUE TO sTRUGGLE w/ BODY...QUIRKS; BUT I survived a 4 month coma: MY Philosophy: 'ONward & UPward (MY Ataxia kicks in when I think too much: OFF 2 Zumba ;)
Yes LisAnne, keep practicing movement and it will help a ton. If you are interested in more exercises like these, head on over to my closed Facebook Group called The MS Gym and ask to join, Here is the link: facebook.com/group/themsgym
I may have missed it but I didn't see how often you recommend doing this. Is it once a day, or more or less frequently? Also, thank you for posting this. I look forward to my increased stability :)
People that have drop foot won't be able to do these exercises, and people that don't have foot drop don't need to do them. If one thinks that doing these will prevent him from getting foot drop, wrong. It will not.
I'm no expert but I do have MS and for me it's just pain.. no physical break or anything so if I can tolerate it.. I just keep going. It's about the pain for me and whether or not a given muscle group works like it's supposed to.. i.e. moves when I tell it to and where I tell it to. I think every bit of exercise I can accomplish can only be good for me.
melissabaines18 they did but I got a second opinion and the second doc advices me against it because there’s a risk it can completely paralyze me and the only benefit would be a slight increase in plantar flexion. I recommend you get another opinion my friend. And I know the coping is the hardest part but stay strong!
I had gbs in 2009 my whole body was dead except neck and eyes after 1 year I start recovering I was in hospital for about 2 and a half month in ICU on ventilator now my whole body is recovered but still foot drop is left in my both legs from then ! So I want to ask can it be recoverable now? Or is it permanent
figen figen I realize that. Every person starts at a different place. I recommend starting with the beginning of this series to address foot drop or check out our free exercise guide for foot drop at www.exercisewithms.com
Thank you for these exercises sir. I have downloaded them on my phone. Furthermore, what can I do to strengthen my toes? I have weak toes on both feet . My toes can't hold a slipper (my big toe and the small toe are kinda widely apart from eachother. I have like a wide space in the middle between them). When I try to walk with a normal slipper, my feet just slide out of them and I end up walking barefoot. Thank you for the reply Sir@@TheMSGym
All the best people have that toe gap Trevor - I call mine my yoga toes as on strong days they give me greater contact with the floor so I can try and be a 'tree'.
It important to me to educate MSers about how the body works and the why behind the what. I believe 30% education 70% education is a pretty good split. Thanks for watching

What if you can't lift your toes?
Tracey's Tracks I need a answer to this also
I think you have to move them w/your hand and then try to conect this motion w/the foot..
I needed to see this when I was younger; now it may be too late for it to help.
Lisa try it and see what you can do. Our bodies are amazing at adjusting. It's all about you. Don't compare or compete. Just try it as much as your body/brain will allow. It maybe frustrating at first, but keep at it.

Are there any people with different types of MS exercising with you in these videos?
Hi Lynne, these videos are me educating you how to exercise with MS. I do not use subjects in these videos. However, I do in other videos.
Thank you! Is that link right?
Hi Angela, the link was correct and live but TH-cam had to approve the URL so I had to remove until they approve. What can I help you with?
You are already helping me! Following you on Faceobook x

What can hurt your knee with MS, bursitis
with foot drop you cannot lift toes or foot
figen figen I realize that. Every person starts at a different place.

Please remove the text. Its hard to see the exercise.
Wish all these people will talk less...and tell only the most needed.

Is it odd that when I try to do the toe lifts, my pinkie toe shoots out to the side? O.o
Morbid Little Girl I have MS, but this made me laugh soo much. Because it happens to me as well
Thank you so much
I have an injured knee. Can i have this exercise?
