"Diming" the master and using channel volume as a master is a myth. This is a solid state amp, not a tube amp. That "tip" is nothing but an imagined effect that's been perpetuated for a while now.
My gosh, katana or a gtx ? I really don't know
Get the Katana! The tones are just better imho. Much more variety and everything just sounds closer to the real thing.
